What is Simhaven?
Sim Haven was created in an effort to give new Sims Story Writers a place where they are able to discuss both technical and creative issues when it comes to writing a sims story.

It is also a place where those who have been telling sim stories for a while are able to post articles, tips and tricks and general knowledge on how they maintain their stories - their creative process as well as how they keep boredom at bay.

How do I join?
First of all, please just read through the rules.

The next thing you will need to do is click on the 'join community' option on the homepage for the community. All join requests must be approved by a maintainer/moderator - this is mostly to make sure you are joining because you have an interest in the Sim Storytelling and not because you're a spambot. If you don't have any interests listed in your profile that even vaguely come close to what this community is all about, I will probably assume you just clicked the join button by accident.

If you only want to keep up with what is posted here on your f-list, you can always just watch this community instead. Everyone, including non lj users can join in the discussions by leaving comments in posts, but the community is set up so that only members are able to make a new post.

Community Rules
There are a few rules you should be aware of before posting to the community.

1. All tutorials, fiction, images and machinima posted here remain the copyright of its creators. All rights reserved. If you wish to repost any images or text on another site, in part or in their entirety, please contact the creator/poster and obtain permission first.

2. This community is a discussion forum, not an advertising forum. If you want to advertise your stories, I suggest finding a community that allows advertisments.

3. Feel free to post questions, tutorials, links and anything else you think might be of interest to the community, just please make sure you tag your entry. This is a PMBD and cc file sharing friendly site, so add links to the booty, sims cave, re-hosted files and Coconut's blog when appropriate.

4. In addition to the monthly challenges, you are welcome to post other short stories and machinima here if you wish. Images or video created from any version of the Sims games are welcome.

5. Whilst discussion and debate (to a certain extent) is fine, do not cross the border into flaming. Those posts will be deleted and you will be banned from the community.

6. Beta Reading. If you wish to post a chapter of your story to the community for beta reading, to ask for opinions or feedback, please be prepared to get them. Whilst I ask those giving feedback do so in a constructive, polite and diplomatic manner (Writing "You Suck" will get your comment deleted), also be aware that when you ask for beta reading and someone provides feedback and pointers, they are doing so to help you not attack you. Keep that in mind. If you are posting a story for Beta Reading - you must place the entire story behind an lj-cut. In your main post you should write what you want and make sure to tag it as Beta Reading.

7. Whilst the staff are not opposed to stories posted to other communities or your own journal (they are your stories after all), it is preferred that stories written for the challenges are posted in their entirety to the

simhaven community. If your main storytelling journal is not on LJ, you may post a teaser pic, along with any warnings and a link to your story. Please make sure you note that the link will take readers to another site.
