What is Simgenix?
Simgenix was created as a sister site to

simhaven. It is in short, a place where members are able to post Sims 2 photoshoots that they create and participate in monthly 'theme' challenges.

It is also a place where the more experienced 'Sim Photographers' can share their tips, tricks and pearls of wisdom to those new to Sim Photoshooting and Photography. These include tutorials specific to:

+ composition
+ lighting
+ colour theory
+ set design
+ costumes
+ creating atmosphere
+ Useful Animations
+ Post Processing of Screencaps

How do I join?
First of all, just read through the rules.

The next thing you will need to do is click on the 'join community' option on the homepage for the community. All join requests must be approved by a maintainer/moderator - this is mostly to make sure you are joining because you have an interest in the Sim Storytelling and not because you're a spambot. If you don't have any interests listed in your profile that even vaguely come close to what this community is all about, I will probably assume you just clicked the join button by accident.

If you only want to keep up with what is posted here on your f-list, you can always just watch this community instead. Everyone, including non lj users can join in the discussions by leaving comments in posts, but the community is set up so that only members are able to make a new post.

Community Rules
There are a few rules you should be aware of before posting to the community.

1. This community is for posting sims photoshoots - pictures taken with any version of the Sims games are welcome. These can be any random photoshoots you have done, as well as those created for the monthly challenges. Some basic photoshopping to enhance the colour, composition or add something for narrative effect is fine, however I do prefer that your pictures are not heavily edited and your sims are not frankensimmed - the whole idea is to get the most you can from your game, not from graphics programs.

2. All posts should be tagged with your username to make it easier to find shoots done by a particular member. If you are new, the mod will make you a tag as soon as she remembers.

3. You may post as many shoots as you like, however we do ask that you limit to one post per a day.

4. You may post a teaser picture 450 x 300 outside of a cut. All other images must be placed behind a cut. Also provide warnings if necessary.

5. Feel free to post questions, tutorials, links and anything else you think might be of interest to the community, just please make sure you tag your entry. This is a PMBD and cc file sharing friendly site, so feel free to add links to the booty, sims cave, re-hosted files and Coconut's blog where appropriate.

6. Do not advertise on this community. There are many other communities out there for promotion/advertisements.

7. Whilst the mod is not opposed to photoshoots that have been posted to other communities or your own journal (they are your pictures after all), we do ask that you post your entire photoshoots to this community as well.

8. Please treat everyone here with respect.

9. All tutorials, and images posted here remain the copyright of its creators. All rights reserved. If you wish to repost any images or text on another site, in part or in their entirety, please contact the creator/poster and obtain permission first.
