Welcome to the city of Sigil.
You have appeared here out of the blue, nobody can tell you why you were chosen to live in this city for the following months, or even years.
All you know is that when you opened your eyes you had a serial number carved in your hand. It doesn't hurt, it doesn't disappear, it's just there. You're wrong if you think it's just a meaningless tattoo!
The city of Sigil has two different parts.
You appeared in the residential zone, full of houses, all looking the same; there's nothing there except for the big pool everyone can access.
Each building has a number and two floors.
Each house/floor has space for two people to reside, which means:
2 people per house ---> 2 houses per building = 4 people reside in the same building.
First floor will receive letter A, and second floor letter B.
When you opened your eyes you found a strange key in your hand. Use it to open whatever door you choose. If the house has some available space for you, it will accept you as its owner, and your key will get attached only to that house. If it's full, then the door won't open; go find a new one where you can reside.
If you want to go to the center of the city where all the shops and interesting things are, you have to walk across a haunted forest. 'What's in the forest?' you may ask, but nobody can give you the answer, as everyone sees different things there!
Someone said once that that forest made you face your worst fears - perhaps that's why everyone's got a different experience crossing it... You'll have to try it yourself to check if that's true or just a fairytale.
Now you might be thinking that life in Sigil is calm and peaceful, but you're wrong.
Several times a month, curses are casted upon people.
What kind of curses? Anything you can imagine!
But they will not effect everyone. There are two different kinds of curses: those which effect only those with an even number carved in their hands, and those which effect only those with an odd one.
