ABOUT THIS COMMUNITY This is a LiveJournal community dedicated to Yamashita Shoon. It was created in July of 2006, and it's an international fan community moderated by a Spanish fan nicknamed Irea (puppeteer8 @ LJ), who also blogs about Shoon and his former group, Ya-Ya-yah (Ya-Ya-yah Obse-shoon). WHO IS YAMASHITA SHOON? Yamashita Shoon (山下翔央) is a Japanese idol who works for the talent agency Johnny's Entertainment (JE). His name is Shoon, and his surname Yamashita, but in Japan it's custom to put the surname before the name. Shoon was born in Tokyo on 20th December of 1988, and joined Johnny's Entertainment on 21st January of 2001 when he was 13 years old. In the Winter of 2001 he became part of a 7 member group called Ya-Ya-yah. The name was formed with the initials of the members surnames: Yabu Kôta, Akama Naoya, Yamashita Shoon, Ayukawa Taiyô, Yoshida Hiroki, Andô Yasuhiro, Hoshino Masaki). In 2002 two members were removed from the group (Yoshida and Andô), and until 2003 it was a 5 member group (Yabu, Akama, Shoon, Taiyô, and Hoshino). In 2003 a new member was added, Yaotome Hikaru, and after the Summer of 2004 Naoya and Hoshino were removed from the group. Ya-Ya-yah thus became a 4 member group (Yabu, Hikaru, Taiyô and Shoon) until September of 2007, when Johnny's Entertainment announced the creation and debut of a new group, Hey!Say!JUMP. Two of the members of this new group were Yabu and Hikaru, which meant the disbandment of Ya-Ya-yah. Taiyô quit shortly after, while Shoon decided to stay. Currently his future within the agency is unclear as his status is somewhere between that of a Johnny's junior (synonym of "un-debuted idol"), and that of older and more "established" idols like Ikuta Toma, who was left without a group too and hasn't debuted, but has continued to work for the agency with a solo career, mostly doing stage plays, musicals, and television series. |
