Isn't it great that Shonen Knife announced their 2009 Tour?! I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm curious - how many long-time fans are out there? I've been fortunate to catch most of their US tours - the first one going back to 1994. Every tour is great in my book. They are by far my favorite band. Can't wait to see them live again!

What does everyone think of the idea of having a shonen knife forum? The forum would be for discussion of shonen knife, obviously. Yes, I am very aware that this community is a forum for shonen knife, however, there are more people interested in shonen knife out there that are not on livejournal. If I get enough heads up for the idea, I will make the forum. If I don't get many replies to this post, then I will NOT make the forum.
I am thinking of using proboards or invisionfree for the forum provider. If anyone is interested in helping me out with the forum: layout, ideas, or being a moderator on the forum, Please let me know by replying to this post. Also, The forum will be discussed outside of livejournal, so if you really want to help out, please leave your email address in a reply to this post OR you can email me. Shonen Knife is in a new compilation called "Thunder Tracks", it is a japanese AC/DC Tribute Album. Shonen Knife covers "Who Made Who". If anyone gets this mp3 please let me know! also I am still looking for "Picnic" from the "Rock For Baby" compilation. I have tons of shonen knife mp3's and am willing to trade!!! =D arigatou gozaimasu! and wake up shonen knife freaks!! Me o Semase!!!

Oh my gosh guys, I'm so sorry I've been so lazy about updating this! But there is tons of Shonen Knife News to report!!
1.) New Album! Yes, a new Shonen Knife album called Fun Fun Fun! was released on July 6, 2007. And for once, somehow I have not secured a copy yet. What is wrong with me? I am slipping. I need to get in gear and order it.
2.) New Tour! Shonen Knife will be touring the USA again finally! Yay! Coming soon!
3.) New MySpace! Shonen Knife finally has an "official" MySpace page. Please add them! SHONEN KNIFE'S MYSPACE PAGE.

ok so i dont know if you've all heard but this is the news i recieved toady!!
Shonen Knife expect to be touring in the U.S.A. in the month of November. Good news for fans, surely - as the #1 Question we get here is "when are they coming back again??!!" The tour will start on the East Coast around November 18... move to the West Coast and back to the East Coast again, ending in December. Looks like a great tour, Fans! The support bassist for the tour will be Tomoko Abe, who is now playing with Shonen Knife at their shows in Japan. She is very good and fits in well with the style and music of Shonen Knife!! No information on a U.S. Release of "Fun! Fun! Fun!", as yet - but many of the songs on the initial Japanese release (see the following) are in english, so it is recommended that U.S. Fans secure a copy of the Japanese release!! (You can add the U.S. recording at the time of the tour, should it be released here.) All tour information will be updated as received... this is the first announcement.

ok well i got a question though:
I found this song from shonen knife on the internet. And I never knew it existed and i'm trying to find out what it is off of. It's called "Osakana Daikoushin" which translates into "Big Fish March". when i downloaded it, it already had some info, under album: "Pretty Little Baka Guy (Japan)" Track: 11
I've seen alot of versions of the plbg album but i never seen one with that song in it. it's usually with live in osaka or with a live version of riding the rocket and kappa ex. it's a pretty cool song though.
anyone have any clue?

Hey everyone,
This community has been verrrrry sleepy over the last few months so I thought I would give a random update so casual browsers know it's still alive!
First off, some late news:
Shonen Knife.Com not-so-recently reported Atsuko's marraige and hiatus(?) from Shonen Knife, owing to the fact that she's moved to the USA and is away from Naoko. Anyway, a new bassist, "Kaori," has been brought in to fill the spot at performances, leaving Naoko as the only original member of Shonen Knife. However, news is unclear as to if this is a permanant situation, or if Atsuko might continue to tour with Shonen Knife in the USA. More news is expected soon.
Secondly, the Heartfriends of Shonen Knife Year in Review 2006 has been up for some time, so if you want a review of last year's Shonen Knife happenings, I humbly suggest you check it out.
