Attention duelists! My hair is shiny. :O

This one's name came from "Blade" being a very common name for Scyther/Scizor, and a joke from DodgeBall in which Ben Stiller introduces his teammates as "Blade", "Lazer" and "Blazer". XP

With some masterballs kindly donated by ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) ladylegsdarkrai and a slightly confused DS clock I had another go at attacking the swarm of Beldum. I managed to get up to 40 again, except that this time I came away with ten shiny rotters before it broke. Next time they swarm, I'm definatly going to have another shot. I didn't want to make an entire post just for that so I'm tacking it onto the beginnging of here.
Recently, my boxes have been filling up with all the spare pokemon I have managed to accumulate over the past few months, so I figued it was high time I tried to trade some of them :D
Because I'm too lazy to list all the pokemon I already have, instead I took some pictures. They're generally all listed in order of when they were caught or traded, if anyone's interested XD

I'm normally up and about most of the day and a large chunk of the night (although I didn't realise how long it would take me to type that all out and it's kinda late now .___.;;) so I can normally catch people regardless of time-zone :D

My two recent additions to my shiny collection... *drumroll*
Wobbuffet and Vulpix!
Both of them are female. I haven't nicknamed the Wobbuffet for lack of anything fitting, but the Vulpix is named Alice. :D
I was meaning to continue on with my Vulpix chain to catch more, but it broke on the shiny because it was in a corner and I didn't notice (it's kinda late where I am x_x). But still! A shiny Vulpix! I'm happy to have even one, considering shiny Ninetails is one of my favorites.
The Wobbuffet, on the other hand, scares me a little. It's female, so it has that weird lipstick thing going on. XD |

After my successful Trapinch chaining on route 228 a few days ago, I said that the next time, Beldum turned up as my swarm I'd try and chain them. And that just so happened to end up being today!
It took me about three hours to chain the rotters up high enough. I accidently switched from flecky grass to the normal type part way through, which made it even harder to see =___= but after a lot of patience, this fellow said hello.

I'm running out of time at the moment, but I'm determined to try again so I *might* change the clock back to this morning. I've not time-travelled on this game at all (unlike AC where I broke the clock by doing it so much >___>) but does anyone have any tips for catching them if I manage to work up a chain again? I had it asleep and was using Dusk balls until I ran out of them and switched to timer ones, but still no luck :/
If all else fails I might try and clone that last Masterball I have rolling around in one of my boxes >____> |

Incredibly low chains give me super strength. But that's for later.

As a GBA Inserter... he WAS. I only got two shinies out of this chain.
And finally...
This Abra appeared on a chain of TWO. That's right, it's happened to me now too (sadly, the chain broke at 5)! No idea what her name will be but she's going straight to my friend, because I couldn't be buggered hatching Onix anymore.

K, so I got bored yesterday and decided to go on a catching spree to try and fill up my ranch. ^_^" I decided to go chain some buneary, because I've been planning on training one anyhow, so I started chaining...

Chained her a few months ago, then went into something of a chaining slump, due in part to Smash Bros finally coming out here.
Then:

Finally realised a long-term chaining dream yesterday when I got sick of trying to chain Shuckle (I'll manage one day, though; at one point I had them chained at 34).

A couple of days ago it was one of my friend's birthday. She plays pokemon a lot, so I told her that if she chose a pokemon that was chainable I would do my best to try and get a shiny for her :D the first couple she named were all safari type ones, but eventually she decided on Trapinch. And then I got home and discovered that it was on route 228 in the sandstorm.
I figured that I might as well give it a go anyway. It took a while to find a Trapinch to start, but I kept going and chaining and then at 39 I saw a sparkly sparkly shake!

Hey all! ^_^
Would any of you be interested in a wifi battle tournament of some kind? Say, battling using only shiny pokemon that we've caught/traded? If need be, we can cut it down to teams of four, since I know some people don't have a lot of shinies to use (myself included).
Also, if you are interested, let me know if you have PBR available or not. :) This is just so I can decide whether it'd be held over DS or PBR.
Prize would likely be a shiny pokemon or two...right now the only thing I've got to offer are a couple of shiny skitties, and some normal legends. |

So, after catching a shiny shinx and a shiny ponyta, I decided to head to route 210 and chain some bagon. Bagon is only present in Pokemon Pearl here, not in Diamond. I managed to get the first chain up to 38, but no sparkle yet. Any tips for chaining this particular (fairly rare in my version) pokemon?
If anyone happens to have a shiny bagon laying around, I'd trade massively insane things for it. My boyfriend specializes in dragons, and I really want a shiny Salemence for the intimidation factor. |

I had this really crazy dream the other night, where Ash was using the pokeradar (which looked like a metal detector) to chain sentret. He was also sitting on one of those things that you use to slide underneath cars, and everytime the radar went off, he'd get pulled to where the sentret was hiding (there were metal rails running through the grass), and then he'd catch it with a really big green and black pokeball and his pokedex would say "52" and so on...
I was kinda hoping that'd mean good luck in chaining sentret...but no.
And now I want to write a fanfic about chaining pokemon with the anime characters... |

So, I found out about chaining and how to do it on Sunday, and then, yesterday, I caught a shiny Ponyta. Today I caught a shiny Shinx. I couldn't be more please. What should I chain next? Maybe Pichu, or Buizel? I can't decide!
I'm also curious; what canon (or fanon!) explanations have people come up with for why some pokemon are "shiny," and why it is so rare? I know the story of the red Gyrados, of course.
Edit: AND I managed to get 'em both inoculated w/ Pokerus... last semester, my boyfriend gave me a bidoof that had it, and it's spread from there. |

| Too many Ponyta |

I think I may have overdone things @___@
A couple of days ago I was chaining Ponyta, got to fourty and then left my DS to charge while I messed about with some Pachirisu on my sister's game; she's gone on holiday and left her DS with me, so I can chain on her Pearl at the same time as my Diamond. I'm bored and have very little to do at the moment >___>
The Pachirisu went okay, I caught two so there's one for me and one for her when she gets back, and so I set back on my Ponyta.
So far, I've caught about twelve shinys. That's kind of an estimate because I wasn't really counting, but I've been getting captures-in-one with dusk balls, and I've used nine of them and have another three shiny Ponyta in my party that were captured in other balls.
I stopped resetting and started chaining again after about eight because I'd feel bad about breaking it intentionally, but it doesn't seem to want to die XD I had the same issue the other day with Zubat and ended up with more shinys than I really needed >___>.
I'd keep going, but I'm going to one of the Darkrai events tomorrow so I need to break my chain at some point to get that DX.
I'm hoping to trade away a few of my spares then, but if anyone wants one of these Ponyta, just let me know and I'll keep hold of it for the moment :D I have a big bunch of spares at the moment too, so I guess there'll be some kind of trading post in the next few days XD

Hello there,
I've been watching the community for a bit, trying to gather some information on shiny hunting. I've tried several techniques, but for the past 6 or so months, have come up with squat! The longest chain I've managed was 48 on Dunsparce (They're pink and yellow - cute!) but I broke it when I accidently ran into a wobbly grass bit. I did catch a shiny in my Emerald one day, just by accident. It was a Whismur, but I didn't like it at all (the Exploud that the TV woman had made me hate it) and I traded it to a person who helped me out a bit online.
I have a favour to ask of the members here:
If you have one, could you please post a picture of a shiny Chingling? Just so I know it's possible to catch one. I'd love some inspiration to keep trying. I think shiny Chimecho is adorable. :)

| Random shiny encounter! |

I've been chaining for about a month now, and the only thing I've managed to successfully chain is Shinx (got 5 of them from a chain of 46 a few weeks ago). My other chains keep breaking - the most annoying was Ponyta at 35.
So this morning on the way to work, I was hunting Shinx (EV training my Torterra) - not chaining them though, just running around in the grass randomly. Imagine how far my mouth fell open when a yellow one appeared out of the blue. I've never had a random shiny encounter before. Would have been nice for it to be something other than the 1 shiny I have managed to chain, but oh well, shiny Shinx are cute.
This one isn't for trade since it's my first random shiny encounter, but I do have an impish male (I think) left over from my chaining if anyone's interested. |

Wow.
It has been a LONG time since I have posted here ^^; Sorry about that! I go in and out of chaining. However...I recently have been chaining a lot...and Thanks to what happened today....I've come to finally make a post about it...
Members who have been around here for awhile may remember me saying how I was trying to get a Shiny Drowzee...But kept giving up because I realllllly hate chaining in the rain. (It makes your eyes go wacky xD)...Anyway....So I basically gave up on him...until today.
He was my swarm and I figured I'd give it a shot because today was also the last day of my summer session class (evil Trigonometry T_T) and I figured..."Eh, what the heck...I'll try again"
After many failed chains I was ready to give up, again, but then...I got a good one going...and some how managed to get to 40 without going blind. (my previous best chain for him was 21)
So...I started to reset..........and reset.....and reset.....for a very.very. very. long time. I think for a couple of hours or so I was resetting on and off....until FINALLY....a shiny patch appeared O_O! I couldn't help but squee!
So...He...rather She (I wish it was a male xD)....inspired me to finally make an updated shiny post.
This includes the Drowzee I got today and he other shinys I have caught since the last time I posted here.
However...I decided not to go picture crazy and post a picture of *every* single one (an example, I caught 2 Shiny Minuns, but I am only picturing one) So I just put the info page for the Shinys I got and below when I caught them and how many etc...

For the first time in a while, I decided to try chaining again. Since I had my FireRed cartridge in, I took my chances with Growlithe. I got a shiny on chain 2, but accidentally broke the chain after that. Ah well, it's a shiny I had worked long and hard for several months ago and always broke my chain on 38 or 39, so I'm happy.
Plus, I got two pretty blue Voltorb from my chaining in my Pearl game :) |

So I started messing with my oft-neglected Diamond version (I don't have the heart to delete my friends' old save file, plus he used a shark on it to get 999 masterballs >.>;;) to chain Aron. I realized I wanted an adamant one, so first I went to catch a crapton of ditto using those masterballs, and wow did I get to 50 quick. I've caught each ditto, and one so far has been shiny (caught in a non-sharked repeat ball). I'll keep going until this chain ends, and hopefully I'll have at least one adamant ditto to breed with a synchronizer.
So, anyone want a shiny ditto? XD I've actually been sucking at chaining Starly, so if anyone has a spare with a neutral or attacking nature (Adamant, brave, lonely, naughty), let me know!
Edit: Chain ended with no other shinies at 56. I got -one- adamant one, so I'm happy! XD |

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! OMG!
I ACTUALLY HAVE A LEGIT SHINY! A SHINY ZANGOOSE! THAT I CAUGHT!!
Sorry, I just had to get it out. I'm still trembling from the rush. I've been lurking in the community for a while, learning about the tricks of chaining, then taught it to my girlfriend, and occasionally giving it a go when I felt lucky.
So imagine my surprise tonight, while hunting for Pokemon to fill up my Pokedex, searching for a Zangoose. First I used the PokeRadar a few times to scan for one, got it. Then afterwards, the bush next to me sparkled, and I FLIPPED. OUT. Sooooo awesome~ ♥
See, my littlest brother started playing Pokemon, with Pearl being his first game a few weeks ago. Not even a day's worth of playing, he caught a shiny Geodude. My brother and I, who had been in the fandom and into the games when they first came out were suuuuuuper jealous! We started calling him "Mr. Shiny" just because of it, haha. XD
Anyway, I just thought I'd share my exciting story with you guys. (And kinda be like, "Hi, I'm new!" all intro post-like.) I read about how people play seemingly FOREVER to get their hands on a desired shiny - heck, even just ONE shiny - but I wanted to cheer you on and say never give up! It can really happen! :D |
