I'm new here, and I've owned Shimotsuma Monogatari for quite some time.^^ I've seen screen shots before it was released in the states. Then few months (years?) later, I saw it at the video store and freaked out.  Probably scared a few people nearby, but it just shows how ecstatic I was to finally get my hands on it. Strangely enough, I can relate to both main characters--Momoko and Ichiko. In public I'm very detached like Momoko, though when I'm angry I'm more like Ichiko.^^;;; It really depends... I'm fortunate enough to be in Japan, but sadly cannot afford Baby's brand. It's way too expensive. >___< Though for those who are interested in purchasing something from this brand, I wouldn't mind sending stuff over as long as you pay.^^; It gives me reason to explore the shop more without feeling guilty by not buying anything. So message me if you're interested.^^v

"Novelist Novala Takemoto arrested for cannabis possession"

Japanese novelist Novala Takemoto was arrested for violating the Cannabis Control Law after being stopped by an officer in Tokyo's Kabukicho district, police said Monday.

The 39-year-old, known as the author of "Shimotsuma Monogatari" (Kamikaze Girls), which was adapted into a film of the same title, was arrested for possession of cannabis. When questioned by police, he reportedly admitted having used the drug.

Investigators said Takemoto was found in possession of cannabis on a street in the Kabukicho district of Tokyo's Shinjuku-ku on Sunday evening. An officer reportedly found the cannabis after spotting Takemoto walking alone and stopping him to question him.

Takemoto was born in Kyoto Prefecture. He gained popularity among young women for his "Soreinu" essays in the Osaka subculture magazine "Hanagata Bunka Tsushin." In 2000, he published his first novel, "Mishin." His works "Emily" and "Lolita" were nominated for the Yukio Mishima Literary Prize. (Mainichi)

That's why I never could find the floral dress Momoko wears in the Nobility Forest! According to this site, it wasn't a Baby design, but especially designed for the movie ;_;

I thought of translating the texts but it's really a bit boring ('this is the dress she wears in this scene, this is the dress she wears in that scene') but if anyone really wants me to translate it let me know yeah? :)

I am planning on making a Shimotsuma Monogatari fansite soon, and would like to compile stock pictures and screencaps of each of Momoko's outfits. I can do the screencapping myself, but I need help with the stock photos from BTSSB and other brands. I used to have several of them saved to my harddrive but it was recently wiped. :/

Please post any of the stock pictures of clothing that Momoko wears (or owns, we get a glimpse of her closet in one scene)! I would really appreciate it, and Shimotsuma needs a good fansite!

I bought the novel several months ago and loved it. And then I got the DVD as a birthday present. And also loved it. Then I convinced my Great Films/Great Books teacher to watch and she loved it too. And then she showed it in class. I think half of my classmates' brains broke. XD;

And, erm, just wondering, is there any website I can go to that happens to have a load of screenshots of KamiKaze GirlsShimotsuma Monogatari? I decided to analyze the movie in a powerpoint presentation as a final project for said films class.

That and what is the name of the song in the Anna Tsuchiya PV that came with the DVD?

Hey all :) I want to have my hair cut like Momoko has (well, I want to cut it myself, hence the question.) It seems just basic layers but before I take the scissors to my (eep! waistlength) hair I wanted some more input.
Has anyone of you had their hair cut like this? Or any input on the style? It seems just layered with shorter bits of hair in the front (like, a not very neat hime cut). Can anyone confirm?

there's a part in the movie near the beginning where momoko is talking about the yaki (gangsters or whatever they are) in her town and one part is where this guy is selling fake brand name stuff and he says, "hora! hora! midateyai midateyai yasuide yasuide YASUIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

i was just wondering what the "midateyai" relly was because i'm not that good with japanese so i don't really know what he was saying but i heard "midateyai" can anyone confirm what he is saying?
