Or, at least, the past few entries have been too angsty. I'm not disregarding the angst, but really, I'm a much more cheerful person than I come across here. In fact, I'm really weird. I don't think I've expressed this weirdness very well in this blog the past couple of weeks.

Ebbeh. It's not even done yet and it's amazing. The first part is up, and the two other parts will be up in the next few days. darkangelhair has blown my socks off again.

I say. I mean to say, I say. It's a Jeeves and Wooster fic, crossed over with Jack Dalliard.

That is to say, it's exceedingly dark, and might not be right for those who like their J&W safe and happy.

It's been a week since I've left DC. Yes, I missed DC constantly, but now as I'm sitting here, typing this entry, I ache for it. This is the first time since I've come home that I actually got tears in my eyes while thinking about DC (the place, the people, the experiences, the memories). I felt a surge of sadness, probably because I not only miss these people but also everything that made up my time there. It's not coming back; I can't recreate it. That previous sentence was not written with angst; it's just a statement. I'm surprised that I'm reacting this way, so intensely, but in the end, however, I'm an extremely sentimental person. I dwell on things and people. I imagine.

So this post is going to have some summer 08 youtube memorabilia, because it brings good memories:

Something else that's contemplative:

My dad mentioned to me today that in college, I suddenly became crazy about Asian American advocacy stuff. I think his exact words were: "You suddenly became an Asian American." ( uh huh? )

The polls are now up for Second Quarter 2008 at the Inuyasha Fan Guild, and that means it's time to hand out the Official Nominee Banner! In order to qualify for this banner, your fic had to make it through the ranks of firsting and seconding and onto the polls. Congratulations, Nominees!

Every quarter, it's inevitable that some fics get dropped for a variety of reasons, but in an effort to elevate this minor indignity to the level of achievement, I always make an Unofficial Official Dropped Banner. It's a tradition! These babies are highly collectible, so if you've earned it... claim your shiny and keep smiling. In order to qualify for this dubious honor, your fic has to have been DQ'd by the CC... and you can keep the banner even if you manage to make corrections, appeal, and have your fic reinstated in time to make it to the polls.  Enjoy!

My third anniversary as a fanfic writer is coming up on Sept 10. I know I haven't written very much lately, but I'd still like to thank everyone for reading my fics over the years, so I'd like to open up drabble requests. I'll take requests through the end of August, and then post all the fics together on Sept 10.

* Drabbles will generally be 100-500 words, unless the idea runs away with me. Some of these turned into oneshots last year.

* One request per person.

Hmm.

Would anyone be interested if I created a writing community in the style of drabbleaday only active and with my own twists?

It's basically a community where once a week I post a set of prompts (word/picture/etc) and then those who want to write a piece (preferably short, but long is fine) and post it. There'd be enough prompts for the week, so hopefully you would write something everyday. Or a lot of somethings and post it all at once. No big restrictions, really.

Now, the twist that would make it mine is that I'd add a side of concrit to it - I would get myself and other people to comment to your short pieces and give feedback. How to improve it, make it shorter/longer, etc. If you wrote something, for instance, you could make a note requesting a certain kind of feedback, or requesting no feedback, or whatever you wanted.

All fandoms and original fic would be welcome, of course.

Would anyone be interested, or should I scrap the idea?

Again I am looking for more to read. I don't care what fandom it is, only I want fics that have politics as a background. Like Corridors of Power, an HP fic wherein Draco and Harry work in the English Muggle Government. Or like the Man From U.N.C.L.E. AU, The Wonderland Series. (scroll down to see it) It's got more realistic Russian reactions to Illya joining U.N.C.L.E. and oh is it good.

Either way, I'd like fics similar to those, or just political and well written. Any fandom, please.

This afternoon (Monday), I leave for Richmond, BC for a week. (What's up, BCers on the flist!) Will be there Monday evening, leave Thursday afternoon. Just to get a little bit of training and insight pertaining to my job.

I'm nervous about going. It's the first time I've traveled anywhere without family of some sort. I'll be traveling with a coworker (and it's the only reason why I'm going for training now instead of later), but still... I HATE being apart from Husband for too long :( That, and I'm broke. People at the Richmond office are supposed to feed us, room and travel are paid for, cab is paid for, but still, I am broke, and am feeling VERY nervous about traveling with no money. Also, I'll be swamped with fall catalogue stuff when I get back. I'm worried that I chose a bad time to go for training--that I'll be too overwhelmed with catalogue stuff and will regret ever going in the first place because of it (but dammit, I could really use the overtime pay!)

Otherwise it'll be nice to see the Vancouver area. That and coworker has never seen the ocean, so I'm hoping we'll get a chance to show it to her before we leave. I'm looking forward to meeting the staff at the head office in Richmond. I'm looking forward to relaxing in the Marriott hotel (paid for by the company, of course :D). I'm looking forward to getting out of Alberta for a while.

We'll see what happens! *deep breath*

Oh, and I remembered my umbrella :P
