This year's card. Brought to you by my mother's collection of Santas (you can see a very, VERY small sampling of her grand collection here), and Millions of Cats - Wanda Gág in 1928 (Great children's book, one of my favs)

Anyone new to my list, this is a tradition I've been doing for a few years now. I draw up a card, mail out a handful of them to family and friends.

Where is it you go to hide? What do you hide? Something, somewhere, someone? Behind something, or out in the open, but so normal no one notices...

ZOMG! Can it be true? I actually did some artwork?
Well, sorta...



So this was a collaborative work between myself and the artist Amado Pena (http://www.penagallery.com/). I was lucky enough to be sitting to his left when (after 20 minutes) he had everyone in the seminar I was working at to pass thier work to the RIGHT. ZOMFGWHAT? He looked at the design I made (pencil sketch) and said... "I don't know anything about sea turtles," making my heart drop into my stomach. I already had the entire composition planned out and here he was gonna SCREW WITH IT? An hour later (of very determinedly NOT looking at what he was doing to my piece) he hands it back and says... "I hope it's okay." He had done the ENTIRE background. Now, originally this was going to be an experimentation of blues and greens without any other colors... but I think he just blew this one apart. I would never have thought to of use reds, yellows and whites to make the blues and greens pop the way he did. Shows what I know huh? XD

Anyway, just wanted to share...

Hola peoples!

Quick question before I go chew down some food... I was thinking of giving this place a kick in the butt so if I started up the monthly 'themes' of things to create to (check out the memories if you're curious)... would this be something people were interested in?

if so, comment with some ideas, and I'll start putting out themes again :) Did a few a looooong time ago and had a good handful of pieces being posted.

And another thing... tutorials/walkthrus, please post them here if you have them! I'm going to be doing a small step-by-step one of scans I'd done while doing a commission in the next week.
