sherant11:57am: FANART: Snape/Draco & Harry/Draco giftarts!
(Hey, I'm not dead!)

I've let my paid account (and all it's shiny features) expire but I managed to keep all the sherant_art icons, since that's pretty much all I'll be using LJ for. However, that also means that my LJ-hosted images (the mature ones) are likely to be lost in time like tears in rain :B. So plan accordingly if you care about that stuff, and hey, it's been stolen and posted in so many places it doesn't really matter anymore -who cares about intent anyway? *snort*

Ack. I promised I wouldn't be bitter. *bites tongue*

And why would I want to be bitter when I've received some wonderful holiday gifts! In the spirit of giving (or whatever) I was compelled to do some thank-you sketches for my as yet still anonymous gifters. Please enjoy...

My first-ever [info]merry_smutmas gift was a wonderful Snaco fic which really whet my appetite for the possibilities of the pairing, which I had previously been curious about. Plus, I'm just so amazed that fic writers can take my strange and sparse prompts and create such a great story!

The scene I chose to illustrate is a pivotal scene in front of the Dark Lord in which Draco is subjected to Snape's Legilimens...

Draco looked up into Snape's face, and knew immediately what he was going to do: Snape didn't know what Draco was hiding, but he knew how to get to it. )

This was my second year participating in the [info]hd_holidays exchange and it was fabulous! My gift was a wonderful epilogue-compliant (*gasp!*) fic that was free of spousal evilness and chock-full of H/D goodness! :B

This scene is from the beginning (the September 2002 section), when Harry first runs into Draco after the war...

But by the time his robes are charmed dry and his firewhisky ordered, and Harry finally notices the stunned pair of gray eyes staring at him in the mirror's reflection behind the bar, he has no interest in going back out in the rain. )

And btw, the gifts I created for [info]hd_holidays and merry_smutmas will be posted here (f'locked, as usual) once the Secret Santas are announced. For now you can peruse all the art and fics and take your best guess at the creators!

On Saturday, July 28th, I participated in Blogathon 2007 to help raise money for my chosen charity, the Duck Rescue Network. My goal was to work on some HP art, and while I didn't complete as many pics as I hoped, I did manage to churn out some fun ones. Here is all the art without the rambling commentary and spam! ;)

Created: July 23, 2007
Rating: G, kinda shmoopy
Warnings: Implied alcohol consumption and deep soul-gazing looks. ;)

I took nyghtinggail's theme suggestion of "imbibing/imbibed" and her listing of Draco/Ginny and sort of ran with them. It was a lot of fun to work on; this pairing is really interesting and I love all the possible visual contrasts. I kind of had an end-of-term common room party theme in mind, but couldn't bring myself to draw other people around them reacting -I just wanted to focus on these two in their little moment. Hopefully it isn't too shmoopy or silly or... not to her liking. It was a lot of fun to work on, and I hope you all enjoy it!

sherant9:51am: FANART: 3 Harry/Draco giftpics for hd_holidays
Characters: Harry/Draco
Media: Photoshop
Created: June, 2007
Rating: G & PG(13?)

Created as a gift for [info]aoifeic in the latest round of [info]hd_holidays.

For these two pics I took the prompts of "post-Hogwarts" and "aurors" and just sort of ran with them. I liked the idea of Harry and Draco as Aurors having to work together, and my mind rambled over all the mysterious and compromising things they could get up to. Of course, once I thought "mystery" I thought of the Hardy Boys and the first illustration is a heavy pastiche to the genre -I even added a line of "dialogue" to the pics so they looked more like book illustrations.

I hope you enjoy!

Created as a gift for [info]tifsuz in the latest round of [info]hd_holidays.

For this pic I went with the prompt of "boys in lingerie," and well... yeah, that's what it is! Well, one boy anyway... ;)
I liked working on the lighting for this -it still didn't turn out exactly as I hoped, but it works alright.

Enjoy!

Shhhh... )

Sorry about the images everyone, they should be viewable now!

I had them in my friends-only lj gallery because I wasn't sure Pbucket would allow them, and I didn't feel they were "bad" enough to make the entry friends-only. Hopefully Pbucket won't mind them -but if they do I'll have to f'lock this entry (like the other mature ones).

Thanks for your patience!!

sherant12:10pm: FANART: Rockstar Harry for Serpentinelion's "Secrets and Wishes Fest"
Characters: Harry (with Goyle, Draco, and Hermione)
Media: Pencil sketch & Photoshop
Created: April 28, 2007
Rating: G/PG

For the S&W Fest! I couldn't resist this prompt when I first read it -great fodder for the imagination!

This was the prompt:
25. Harry saying up yours to the Wizarding world and becoming a rock star (Muggle or Wizard, your choice). Louche, skinny-hipped, kohl-lined Harry. Hermione as a groupie. Goyle as taciturn kick-ass guitarist. Grudgingly!smitten Draco. Would like it to be zany, off-kilter, sweet.

It didn't turn out exactly like I hoped, but it was still a ton of fun and I hope you enjoy it! :D

sherant10:28pm: [very] RETROSPECTIVE: "Some Cats Have it Bad"
I've been meaning to look for these old childhood drawings for a long time -mainly because they're of a few that I can actually remember drawing, and also because YAYE OLD ARTZ! As I had to look through some old paintings tonight, I rummaged a bit more and found this treasure. :B

I can't remember how old I was when I drew it, but I'm guessing between 5-8...

sherant4:20pm: Quick-Color Tutorial (and bonus old art layers)!
So way back in July '06 I had a coloring workshop at Lumos entitled "Luminous Art: Coloring Secrets from a Muggle." To my delighted surprise people actually attended! :O In lieu of the promised hand-out I told attendees that I would post the info in color on my LJ. *cough* Several months later I am delivering. :B

sherant10:17pm: Original: Dragonling
For the Seventh Sanctum's Monster Madness Contest...

The random "Dragonling" generator produced this:
"This harried female dragonling has beady, slit-pupiled eyes the color of wild grass. Her silky, curly, obsidian hair is worn in a style that reminds you of a devil's horns. She is very short and has an amazonian build. Her skin is cream-colored, with yellow scales covering her neither regions. She has prominent wings and a concealable tail. She has webbed ears. Her wardrobe is artistic."

Eh, got some of it. A couple hours of messing around, it was just for fun. I like the randomizers. :)

sherant7:11pm: First HP Slash Art (and development of OTP)
Characters: Harry/Draco
Media: red pencil
Created: October, 2003
Rating: PG (for boys almost kissing)

A milestone in my development as a slash fanartist, lol!

I kind of came into HP fandom through slash -I had read and enjoyed the books, but I wasn't really interested in being a huge fan of the books as-is (at least, not in the beginning). Perusing Japanese artist's sites led me to HP fanart, and a good chunk of it was slash (mainly James/Snape). It was thrilling; it made me giggle and was really quite moving and beautiful.

I wanted to draw some slashy stuff and decided to have a dedicated "adult" sketchbook that I would always use my ped pencils in (I inherited a huge box of red pencils). Only two finished sketches ever came out of that book, and this is the first...

...so close... )
sherant7:02pm: Website R.I.P
Well, my website went belly-up this past week and I won't be fixing it any time soon. :\

It's about time I got a proper site, so I'm going to take this crappy situation and turn it into a motivational learning experience. *is determined* I'll be posting art here with more frequency as it will build my library of information (and therefore make the site-building much easier and better!). This Fall I'm also signing up for an online course in basic web design so I will actually know how to do things the right way.

I apologize for all the crappiness, please wish me luck!

P.S. I was looking through my Photobucket account today and everything is red! XD LOL, I need a new favorite color...

sherant2:25pm: Commission Info Updated
I've updated my commission info page.

Not the best news, but please check it out -particularly the bottom section if I am forgetting to list someone.

I picked a bad time to start up this community. :\ Things are very hectic and all my media resources seem to be plotting against me. Even the very fabric of time seems distorted...

But I will persevere. I'm hoping that by the 22nd (or the end of the month, at the latest) I will be able to do some every-other-day art posts in order to make this place worthwhile. I'll do my best. Thank you all for always being so kind to me, I appreciate this fandom more than you know. *hugs*

sherant12:26pm: FANART - Harry Potter: Daily Prophet
Characters: Harry
Media: pencil
Created: August, 2003
Rating: G (all ages)

Here's a classic -my first-ever Harry Potter fanart!

*sigh* It really takes me back. All the way back to August of 2003 (wow, has it really been that long?!).
Back then I had a read-only blog, and hardly any art. Anyway, this piece was the result of re-reading all the books in preparation for the release of Order of the Phoenix (which came out in July). It's not really a direct scene from any of the books, but more of a feeling of a continually running theme...

Fame is a fickle friend...  )

Characters: Harry, Hogwarts students, a bit of McGonagal
Media: Photoshop CG over pencil sketch

This piece is my submission for the first round of the [info]hp_art_project (please ignore the incorrect watermark), for the seventh chapter of the first book; The Sorting Hat.

As far as I know, only one other person has seen it, so let me share it with you! :)

The last thing Harry saw before the hat dropped over his eyes was the hall full of people craning to get a good look at him... )
