I've decided to close sheps_toaster. I'm not going to delete the comm, so if you want anything from here, it still will be available, but I won't be posting here from now on.

I still hope to make graphics (and possibly resources, etc.) from time to time, but I'll be posting at my own journal, eirenealetheia from now on. You are all more than welcome to friend me over there if you wish to see my work, and I will keep graphics posts "public".

FINALLY sheps_toaster has a new layout! LOL! Yes, one that didn't randomly decide to break and thus look really bad. I should have changed it sooner, but never quite got around to it... *sigh*

This layout is built on the "Flexible Squares" theme, and features the actress Alison Lohman, who stars in the movie "Flicka" (among others!).

Hope you enjoy the new and un-broken layout! :D

Usually I'm pretty lax about this. I gather most people do the right thing by those who make graphics and do give credit for icons/layouts/etc. they take. But when I discovered someone using an icon of mine without crediting or commenting on the entry it was taken from, I started to question if people really did a) know how to do the right thing, or b) cared if they did! So, here I bring you the "Dummies Guide to Etiquette when using Someone's Premade Graphics". Now no one can have the excuse "...but I didn't know what I was doing was wrong!".



Dummies Guide to Etiquette when using Someone's Premade Graphics:

1. It is the courteous thing to give credit when you take an icon/layout/moodtheme/etc. Please do it!

2. Makers always like to know that people like their work. It encourages them to make more for you. So if you like what you're seeing someone make, COMMENT on the entry they're sharing their icons/etc. in and TELL THEM! Hey, even a comment to say "I'm not taking this but wanted to tell you it's really nice!" occasionally is also really lovely. :) But PLEASE comment if you're taking something from a post. That's just the right thing to do...

3. Don't hotlink. That's just nasty. If the maker of the graphics is paying for webspace, you're actually stealing their bandwidth which THEY ARE PAYING FOR. Even if they are using a free site for hosting, a lot of them have limits on how much bandwidth they are allowed each day/month/whatever...

4. More to the point, don't redistribute someone's graphics WITHOUT PERMISSION! Usually graphics makers DON'T want their icons/wallpapers/etc. shared in some public gallery on a website, usually where no credit is given to the person who made it!! But don't even post someone's icon or wallpaper on your OWN journal and say "Hey, look at this! Isn't it pretty?". If you want to share someone's work with your friends, link them directly to the entry where it was posted.

5. Do not edit someone else's graphics! If you download a layout from someone and want your name on it, ASK THE MAKER! Or if you have a textless icon you want to put text on, JUST DON'T! Textless icons aren't bases (unless stated that they are...).
