AboutWelcome to SHENNYRULES!, the one and only Shane/Jenny shippers community here at LiveJournal! This community is home to fans of the relationship (friendship and, hopefully, more in the future!) between the characters of Shane McCutcheon (played by Katherine Moennig) and Jennifer Schecter (played by Mia Kirshner) on Showtime's hit series The L Word.

THE Shennyrules! RULES:
1.) No Sharmen fans. - WE DO NOT SUPPORT THE SHARMEN RELATIONSHIP IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. It was abusive and unhealthy for Shane. We'd much rather she got involved with someone who would love and accept her for who she really is. And, no, you can't be a fan of Shenny and Sharmen at the same time. The two relationships are complete opposites. Being with Carmen was extremely bad for Shane. If you're a true Shane fan and you really care about her character, then you'd want her to be with someone who treated her well and made her happy, which Carmen never did. In season five, Shane said she didn't believe she'd ever been in love -- there's a REASON FOR THAT!
2.) No Carmen fans/apologists. - We have no big love for DJ Bigmouth around these parts. If that offends you, oh well. You are not welcome here. Period. If it's discovered that you're a Sharmen or Carmen fan, then you will immediately be banned. No second or third strikes, no exceptions, no second chances. Should have read and followed the rules the first time.
3.) No Tibettes allowed. - Y'all are just annoying as hell. You've taken over every other forum and community with your empty-headed blathering. That will not be tolerated here. This community is for Shennys and Shennys ONLY. No exceptions.
4.) No comments/posts/gossip about Kate or Mia's personal lives. This includes 'are they gay in real life?' and ANY and ALL comments in regards to their weight or insinuations about their health vis-a-vis their weight. If you wouldn't ask the question to their faces, then don't ask it here. Got it?
5.) No character or actress bashing is allowed here. We're all fans of Shane and Jenny equally and individually as characters as well as fans of them as a (currently) unconventional ship and Kate and Mia as actresses. If you don't like Shane or Jenny then what the hell are you even doing here?
6.) No copycat topics! If you'd like to post a question or a discussion topic, please do double-check and make sure that it hasn't been discussed before. If it has, just go ahead and reply to the most appropriate post. If it hasn't been posted before, then post away. Just make sure it's ON-TOPIC, otherwise the post will have to be removed!
7.) We love fanart - feel free to share yours! If you have a fanart rec of some sort (vid, fanfic, etc.), then be sure to post it/embed it so that we can all share in the goodness. However, please make sure to note the original creator's name, if you can find it. Oh, and kindly don't try to pass off someone else's work as your own. That's just tacky.
8.) By all means, share photos of our two favorite girls, but DO NOT HOTLINK! Hotlinking (ie. directly linking to images hosted on someone else's server) is basically stealing, as it leeches bandwidth away that the person hosting the image has paid for. Also tacky. And gross. Save the image to your own hard drive and link to it using tinypic.com or photobucket.com or picamatic.com. As for videos, don't hotlink to those, either - post them on box.net, youtube.com or another live-player type site so that we don't suck anybody's site space dry.
9.) Shenny is NOT the ship of last resort! If your only reason for liking Shenny is 'because they're hot' or 'umm... because all my other ships have sunk'? You might wanna consider giving this comm a pass. Most of us here have been supporting Shane and Jenny getting together as a couple as far back as season one. For us, this isn't a passing fancy, the flavor of the month or some kind of silly fad ship that's gonna die out. This comm is for hardcore Shennys and people who are leaning towards becoming hardcore Shennys.
10.) Keep us in the loop! By all means, feel free to share any info and updates about our favorite girls that you might come across! If Kate or Mia have any appearances upcoming in movies, magazines, on tv or on the stage somewhere, then please do give us a heads up! If you're a big Mia Kirshner fan, then we NEED YOU! I'm good with keeping up with Kate Moennig's comings and goings, but I'm not a Mia expert by any means and, in the spirit of keeping everything balanced between the two of them, it'd be really great to find someone who could keep us up on what's going on with Miss Mia!
11.) The more you know! If you don't understand Shenny, but wanna learn more about them? Then feel free to join and let us share with you the beauty of this unique and tender friendship. Just try to keep an open mind and don't post here just so you can tell us that Shenny's not gonna happen. Your post will be deleted and you will be summarily banned from the comm -- well, after we've pointed and laughed at you, of course.
12.) Link to Shennyrules and spread the word! Feel free to link to this comm using these graphics - show off your Shenny fan pride and let other Shennys know there is a safe place for them! Use them anywhere and everywhere you can! Let's get the word out that this is the safe haven for Shenny fans. The Tibettes and Sharmens have taken over everywhere else, but that's not gonna happen here. This is our space.
