Telling HerAngel paced impatiently as he waited for Buffy to arrive. He knew Dawn was angry with him for meeting Buffy instead of letting her do it, but Buffy was going to be angry and he was simply better able to deal with an angry slayer than Dawn.
Dawn was certain Buffy wouldn’t hurt her, he wasn’t so sure. He may have loved her once, but he’d seen her temper too many times to believe she wouldn’t hurt Dawn just because they were related. That’s why he had fought his feeling so hard from the day she’d shown up at his door, he didn’t want to put someone he cared for in danger again.
But then ‘cared for’ became love and he couldn’t deny it or fight it anymore. So he had insisted they not tell Buffy until they had to…and that was tonight. She was in Los Angeles, she wanted to see her sister; they couldn’t keep it from her anymore.
He wanted to go home, just walk out, Buffy was late anyway, and go back to Dawn. They had fought all day about his coming here…and then him coming unarmed, he wanted to go home and talk to her, but he’d wait. He wasn’t going to run.
“Angel.” He looked up at the familiar voice and frowned.
“I told you I’d do this alone,” he pointed out. “You were supposed to wait at home.”
“I’m not sitting home and waiting, this is as much about me as it is you,” Dawn argued. “If Buffy’s going to be angry, we should both be here.”
Angel sighed, it was too late to argue now anyway. Buffy’d be here at any moment. “You said she wouldn’t hurt you, why did you bring a crossbow?”
“I don’t think she’d hurt me, but I’m not stupid either,” Dawn responded, sliding into the booth next to him, “I’m not going to piss her off this much and not be prepared for a fight.”
