~About the Community~


This community is, basically, for the posting of any kind of Sorcerer Hunters fanfiction. There are currently other communities for various areas of the fandom (see the related list at the bottom of this userinfo) but a lot of these are based around yaoi and if you do happen to write a general fic or a heterosexual fic or a yuri fic (has anybody even done that yet? *pines for ChocolatxEclair*), it seems that there wouldn't be many places to pimp it around other than your own journal...

~What Can Be Posted Here~


If you're new, feel free to post an introduction. Who are you? How did you get into Sorcerer Hunters? How long have you been into Sorcerer Hunters? Who's your favourite character? What, if applicable, is your favourite pairing? Etc. It lets us know who's who and, basically, I'm interested ^^

Obviously, fanfiction can be posted here. Any kind of fanfiction; yaoi, yuri, het, gen, crack, angst, whatever takes your fancy. Feel free to post any ideas you've had here if you're willing to share them and maybe want some of us to help you expand on those ideas (though try to refrain from one-liners of "I wanna write a fic where Chocolat and Eclair go shopping! Help kplzthxbye"), just try to keep your posts at least a bit substantial.

If you have any ideas for related challenges or competitions, feel free to post them so we can see what we think about them. More on challenges down below.

As long as it's related, I don't mind it. If you've got a rant relating to fanfiction or elements of the same that you'd like to post, go ahead. If you've written a thesis on how you feel episode 13 affects your creativity as a viewer (or something), go ahead, I'd be interested in reading it. I know they're not strictly fanfiction, but if it's something decently long and Sorcerer Hunters-y that you put effort into writing, I don't see why it can't be posted here.

If you've got problems writing something, feel free to ask us for help, too. For example, if you want to write a fic about Eclair but you don't feel you've seen enough of her from the manga to judge her character right or so; ask and certainly someone or another (even if it's only me) will be willing to help you on the matter~

Also, if you have a fic you wrote a while ago but still want to pimp, I don't mind that. Or if you want to plug your new (or old) fanfiction archive (as long as it's on-topic). Or even if you read a fic by somebody else that especially moved you, tell us about it~ fic recs are always good too.

If you really want to post something but aren't sure if it's allowed, feel free to ask me about it beforehand.


~How To Post~


Please LJ-cut. http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=75 is the page of Livejournal's FAQ regarding how to LJ cut; if you have a Livejournal client, you'll probably have a button that does it for you. Isn't that lucky?

When it comes to posting fanfics, please use this setup for posting your fic:

Title: Title of fic
Prompt: Only in the case of the prompts (see below), but if you were inspired by a prompt, please mention it here.
Pairing/Characters: If it's based around one character or a pairing or a few characters, tell us who here so we have some idea (so if we're biased and just want to read about one character, we can). If it's a general fanfic, feel free to just put 'general' or 'everyone' or just miss that line out if you want. If it is a fic with a pairing in it, please please mention this though.
Rating/Warnings: I'm not picky about ratings because I'm an awkward brit who can never figure out whether her fic with non-explicit but definite deep exploration of sexual relations and themes should be R or NC-17. Rate it if you like, but I'm okay with you just warning us for explicit sex/gay sex/mention of sex/fluff/angst/death/whatever. Just so that we know what we're dealing with. Oh, spoiler warnings would go here too.
Summary: Give us a brief idea of what we're about to read. Try to refrain from spoiling the whole thing in the summary.
Author's notes: Is it definitly based in one particular continuity? Is it a sequel to a previous fic you wrote? Are you just proud of some technique you pulled off while writing this? Let us know here.

LET'S MAINTAIN A SENSE OF ORDER. Feel free to substitute [Fic] for [Help Request] or [Fic Rec] or [Fic Plug] or whatever. You're clever, you'll figure it out~. If it's something you wrote in response to a promps (see below), mention this in the subject too - [Prompt #37] or whatever.


~Rules~


Basically 'don't be a moronic idiot' really, but let's see.

1: No flaming
I don't mind mature discussion. If you have reasons against a particular character or pairing or whatever I don't mind if you raise this in a sensible way, then we can all enjoy a good discussion on it. I like discussion. If, however, you feel the need to pick on someone because of basic reasons ("OMG CARRTZ UGLEH OMFG MARRONZ 2 PRETTY 4 HIM") ("OMG MARRON AND CARROT ARE BROTHERS THIS IS DISGUSTING AND YOU ARE DISGUSTING") ("OMG WHAT THE HELL CARROT AND CHOCOLAT!??! CARROT AND TIRA'S ONE TR00 LOVE IS SO PURE AND TRUE AND I KILL YOU FOR DESTROYING MY PERCEPTIONS OF THE CHARACTERS") without much background reasoning then I will have to, I'm afraid, use my powers of Godly Modly Smackdown.

If you respond to a Glacecest fic with any variation on 'but they're brothers' then you leave yourself open to ridicule by the community and this here is your disclaimer on that. We know that Marron and Carrot are brothers. The series itself makes this quite clear. YOU DON'T NEED TO POINT IT OUT TO US THANK YOU.

2: "OMG that'd never happen!"
A slight variation on the above but I thought it could do with being mentioned. Okay, so maybe Cool Mint and Count Tartlet would never meet up being in, y'know, different continuities and all. We don't care. If you want to write us some Cool MintxTartlet then go ahead and convince us, it's all good. Pick up on spelling if you want. Pick up on grammar. Punctuation. Continuity errors. Not on 'but that'd never happen!' when the writer has obviously put effort into making the audience want to be able to believe that it could.

Of course, if it's something like "One day Salad was walking to the shops and decided she wanted to be more evil than Sacher Torte so decided to take over the world" then it would be logical to ask for a little more expansion on this. Still, I'm sure even that could be a good fic if someone put effort into it. Maybe. Okay, maybe not.

3: Quality control?
Please put even just a little effort into your pieces. I'm not saying you have to be the next Shakespeare or anything, whether what you're posting is your first Gaterron fic or your twenty-fifth piece of Eclair introspection, it doesn't matter. However, it's the little things that count - Word comes with a spellchecker, use it. If you don't use Word, write in whatever you use to write in then copy it over to Word for spellchecking. Get a friend to pore over it with a dictionary. Whatever, so long as you've taken the time to check it over for such things. Maybe leave the fic for a while, sleep on it then re-read it, that's what I do.

No matter how rabid the fans of your writings, there's no fanfic that somebody couldn't even wait for it to be spellchecked etc before wanting to read it.

If it's a matter of "I pulled this out of my arse and figured I could post it", you might want to reconsider that. Wouldn't you rather post something that you're proud of? Something where the effort paid off? If there's something wrong with your fic and you know there's something wrong with your fic, try working with it until you make it somehow right; won't you feel all the more accomplished that way...?

Of course, if you're having problems with things like this, as I said, don't hesitate to ask. I don't think I'm too scary (hopefully), I'd be willing to help~~


~Writing Challenges, Competitions and Prompts~


Both Myka and I are aware of the stunning failiure that [info]sh100 has been, but despite this, I still like the idea of regular challenges (or prompts, if the idea of a challenge scares you). Okay it's not like there aren't a million 30_whatever challenge communities out there to fulfil all your needs in that respect, but might it not help if you had something to nudge you into inspiration every month?

A new prompt will ideally be posted on the first of each month. There's no time limit on responding to prompts - feel free to respond to #2 even if #27 just got posted. A prompt could be anything - an object, a quote, maybe even a picture or a piece of music. Use the prompt however it inspires you. If it's a quote, you could have a character speak the quote or just use it as a chapter heading or something, it doesn't matter. As long as it inspired you to write in some way or another then that's enough.

Feel free to contact me if you have any prompt ideas. I like doing challenges myself, it's a little more fun if it's not only me making them all the time.

If you've got an idea for a writing challenge you think we could pull off, feel free to post it to the community to see what we think about it, we can refine the idea from there. In either case, this is my email.
