About
Welcome to [info]sgh_attendings !!

[info]sgh_attendings is a new, selective Grey’s Anatomy fanfiction archive. We are a members-only community, which means that only members can post here. You can become a member by applying here (and see below). Of course, everyone can read the fics posted here without applying for posting access. Click here to add us to your friends list.
Becoming A Member

Just like there are interns and attendings at every hospital, there are less experienced and more experienced writers in every fandom. The purpose of [info]sgh_attendings is to archive well-written, high-quality fanfiction, and to ensure this, we ask prospective authors to apply for posting access. You can find our application post here. How do you know what we’re looking for? Just read a couple of fics that have been posted recently. If you think you’d fit in, apply here.

IMPORTANT: [info]sgh_attendings is currently looking for at least two other mods. Modly duties include posting weekly prompts, making sure fics are being posted, and reviewing applications. You don’t need to be a seasoned writer or BNF to become a mod here! If you are interested, please leave us a comment at the application post telling us why you think you’d make a great mod.

Notes About Applying:
  • Please fill out the entire application, and do not join the community until you have been accepted as an author. We will send you an invite once that’s happened.
  • Members are approved by majority vote from the mods. Please, don’t take it personally if you are rejected. Remember: it’s a long way from being an intern to becoming an attending, and it’s the same way with writing. If you have been rejected, you can reapply for posting access after one month.
  • Remember: we are not looking for perfect. We’re not even looking for ready-to-be-published. We don’t want the next William Shakespeare/Jane Austen/JK Rowling to be our only members. What we are looking for are well-constructed, well-written, in-character fics devoid of Mary-Sues, giant plotholes, and other pitfalls of fanfiction. If we feel your fics would fit here nicely despite a few flaws, chances are we will accept you.
  • If you would like to recommend another author as a member, you can do that here.
  • IMPORTANT: Please put the phrase “We can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart” at the top of your application or recommendation. This shows us that you have been paying attention thus far, which will greatly improve your chances of being accepted.
Once You Have Been Accepted…

Check your community invites. You will find one from us, with a link to join. Congratulations! You are now an attending at Seattle Grace Hospital, and can start posting your fics. If you want to, you can also introduce yourself to the other attendings through an introductory post.

Posting Guidelines:
You can post anything from drabbles to epics of all ships and categories. All fics should be placed behind a (fake) LJ cut. Please remember to tag your entries with the appropriate “author”, “character” and “ship” tags.
Use some variation of this header to post your fics:

Title:

Rating:

Summary:

Warnings:(if applicable)

Disclaimer: (if applicable)

Prompt: (if applicable, and see below)

Word Count:

Author’s Notes:

As far as we’re concerned, all you need to include is your title, rating and summary. Warnings should be used sparingly and appropriately (as in, there’s no need to warn against intern/attending sex, because this is Grey’s Anatomy, after all- it’s going to happen). If you want to include word counts and author’s notes, feel free, but really, there’s no need.

If you are posting your fic directly to this community, as opposed to fake-cutting to your personal journal or fic community, we would ask you to include a disclaimer. If you’re linking, you just need to make sure there’s a disclaimer somewhere on your journal.

Please note that, unlike [info]ga_fanfic , this community is not on moderated posting. This means we expect you all to follow our posting guidelines and make sure the archive looks as bright and shiny as it should, without us hunting you down to do so!
Prompts

Every Thursday, we post a prompt- a picture, quote, song, or maybe just a word or phrase, which you can use as inspiration for your next fic. We ask members to respond to at least one prompt a month. No worries: we are not the thought police, so we will not hunt you down if your fic is only vaguely relatable to a prompt. And we understand that RL happens, so if you can’t make it one month, that’s okay, too. This is just our way of making sure we have an active community with constantly inspired authors. If you are responding to a prompt, please indicated so in your header, and tag your fic with a “prompt: week X” tag.
