The Nominating Procedure
Immediately following this post is a series of posts, all with screened comments, to collect your nominations for the 2007 DiversiFICation Awards. Good posts to review before you begin nominating are the DiversiFICication Awards FAQ and the pre-nomination post.

These are not the categories that will be used for the final voting. They are simply a way for us to find and organize nominations as they come in. Final voting categories will be determined when the nominations are collected and authors have accepted.

There are three separate posts 1.) for any male/male pairings, 2.) any female/female pairings and 3.) for all groupings of three or more, no matter what the genders involved. *Any story that goes from a two-person relationships to a group-relationship should be listed as a ‘three or more’. For example a story that starts as Beckett/Sheppard and ends up Beckett/McKay/Sheppard would go in ‘three or more’ not, ‘male/male’.

Nominations need to use the following template:

Nominator's LJ name/email address: (How can we identify you as a discreeet nominator, and contact you if there's a question?)
Is this a self-nomination? (Y/N):
Story Title:
Link to Story:
Author:
Primary Pairing:
Alternative way to contact the author: (If you aren't linking us back to their LiveJournal or an archive we can comment from, please let us know how we can ascertain permission from the author.)

When listing the pairing/grouping, please use only the character’s last name, and put the characters in alphabetical order. So it would be Beckett/McKay, but McKay/Zelenka. Threesomes/moresomes would also be listed in alphabetical order, such as Beckett/Lorne/Zelenka or Emmagan/Sheppard/Weir.

Once again, each author is allowed to nominate up to five of their own works. Otherwise, nominations are unlimited. However, to help keep your moderators as sane as possible, if you have a batch of nominations for one pairing, please put the pairing in the subject line of your comment and list all of the nominations within one comment. You can always come back and add more in a new comment later, but if you have a group at one time, please list them all together.

The nominations are open as of now, March 15, 2007 and will close on April 15, 2007.

Please only post QUESTIONS about nominations in the comments in this post. Actual nominations left here will be deleted.

hey there :)

I was wondering if one can nominate a whole series or if it has to be limited to one "chapter" of the series?

Thanks!

A series can be nominated as a whole, sure.

This may just be me being dense but if I wanted to to nominate stories in the same category but with different pairings, should I do them in seperate comments or in the same one?

It would be helpful, but not required, I think, for them to be in separate comments, but we'll likely get them both ways, so we'll deal.

What's the timeframe for the eligible fics?

Anything! As long as it doesn't involve time-travel to see it (i.e. the fic isn't written yet), it's eligible. We're not limiting things to just what has been posted the year prior to the Awards because sometimes a fic is posted in a smallish archive and doesn't get noticed until much later. So, really, if it's within our scope, we don't care when it was first posted.

Just wanted to add, anything *finished* when we close the nominations on April 15. So if part one of two is out now and part two comes out next week, it's all good. But if part one is out now and part two doesn't get posted until after April 15th, it'll have to wait until next year. Okay?

What if you want to nominate a story that has both het and slash, but not a threesome?

Well, since this is a slash award and not a het award, you would nominate it for the slash pairing.

i can't find -- what about original characters? like {canon-character/original character} in a slash pairing?

We're not taking those at this time.

We've defined ourselves pretty narrowly this year just so we can get our feet under ourselves and do this well. We've seen too many awards overextend themselves and fail utterly. We'd like to not do that. So maybe next year when we have a better grip on how this works and we can handle a wider mandate without trying to figure out the rules and thigns as we go along. Okay?

Not a problem :-) I just wanted to be sure before I nominimomininated something I shouldn't have.

They go in threesomes the same way a Beckett/Sheppard/Zelenka threeway would.

Thanks for checking. :)

Thanks for not groaning too obviously at me asking a question you'd already answered. :)

Just a quick question about pairings. I see that you aren't allowing original characters, but what's the position on crossovers? I'd like to nominate an SGA/SG-1 pairing if it's allowed.

Thanks,

Laura.

Crossover pairings with SG-1 are fine. Crossover pairings with other universes are not.
