i'm in a predicament that doesn't exactly inspire sympathy in the fandom. the issue is that i love sheppard and mckay... but i can't stand the show. (don't hurt me.) spacestuff bores me. hence my search for recs of the following:

(a) sheppard/mckay (slash or gen) fics that deal with what it's like living in atlantis itself. basically i'm looking for existential emo angst stuff.

(b) sheppard/mckay (slash or gen) AUs. ones that don't involve space at all. such as, for instance, string theory, a concerto for violin in d minor, which i loved.

there might be whole communities dedicated to both of these things, but i'm flying blind at the moment. would anyone have stories or communities to point me to?

thank you!

Which reminds me I dont think I ever left you feed back, which I should have cause I've re-read Walk this Way about three times in the past week and been listening to podfic for about as long. Really rather good, I might even rec them out to people lol ;)

(yes, yes, yes I know I am a bad person leaving *late* feedback in a comment for someone other then how made the post...I am sorry!)

There's an SGA harlequin AU comm here - [info]harlequin_sga. I just wrote one, too, if you're interested, a mchsep AU based on Pretty Woman. It's called King of Wishful Thinking.

[info]sheafrotherdon's iowa series is excellent and just so perfect.

also, bell curve by [info]rageprufrock (the link is to her fiction page because there are ficlets that follow the first story). it's my ultimate comfort fic. and hindsight (on the same page) is an au that involves atlantis towards the end, but it's never shown (i always forget that they end up going, if that's any indication) and is also excellent.

Well you need to make sure you read them. (not everything i've read has been a winner, but the good was very-very-oh-my-god-i'm-in-love good. Which is always fun.)
