Scaling back the community

Unfortunately I have increasingly found myself without enough time and, more importantly, energy and enthusiasm to maintain the community as it is. As a result the community is going to be somewhat scaled back, I will endeavour to keep it up to date with any major spoilers but I can't make any promises. I think I've tried to take too much on and its just worn me down a bit, fandom should be something that is fun not a chore. Hopefully I can keep things ticking over until such a time that I can throw myself back into it fully but right now I don't know when or if that will happen.

Help Wanted

Sorry for the comm being a little quiet, its down to two things (1) there have been surprisingly few interesting spoilers about recently and (2) that pesky things called a RL (that's real life not Rachel Luttrell) has been getting in the way again. So I'm putting out a call for volunteers to take a little of the weight off my shoulders.

I'm mainly looking for a co-maintainer who will take sole responsibility for the discussion thread once a week, I simply don't have the time or energy to devote to it and I think its something that is worth doing properly. So if you feel you meet the criteria below please leave a comment.

Discussion Thread Maintainer

You must have time each week to prepare and post a poll & discussion thread and then spend time replying to posts and encouraging the discussion.
It may sound obvious but you will be exposed to detailed plot spoilers, if you feel that delving too deeply into the spoilers will effect your enjoyment of the show then this may not be for you.
You have to be completely impartial. While you are representing the community you cannot show any bias toward or against a particular character and whether you are an anti-shipper or are devoted to ship or slash you will have to leave that at the door. You can't base the discussion around your favourite characters every week and you must show respect for every posters opinion.
Click on the link in the sidebar to go to the profile page where you'll find the FAQ, I'd encourage everyone to read it and if you wish to become a maintainer here its a must.
I am determined that this community will remain a friendly and welcoming place to all SGA fans and I want a co-maintainer who feels as passionately about that as I do.

I'm also looking for help in a more general context, it can be very time consuming for me to track down every little spoiler so if you spot any snippets that I've missed don't be afraid to get in touch with me either via e-mail or by leaving a comment (I'm afraid I've had problems with my e-mail alert system the last couple of weeks but hopefully that issue is sorted now). Any links to convention reports containing new spoilers would particularly be appreciated.

Also I'm looking for anyone who would be able to record and upload TV promos or clips, I'm in the UK and unable to do so myself. So if you are able to upload any new clips, promos or interviews that contain spoilers please get in touch.

As always any contribution to the community will be recognised and full credit given.

I hope to update sometime over the weekend, today if possible, but my internet connection doesn't like the current inclement weather so it all depends on how well it behaves.

Episode Synopses

The Movie Network have updated their Stargate Atlantis pages and added brief, yet detailed, synopses for the first four episodes. Not very interesting for Search and Rescue but the write up for The Seed in particular is packed full of new information.

Search & Rescue

An injured Sheppard is trapped alongside Ronon beneath the rubble of Michael’s collapsed compound. Trapped in another debris pocket, McKay and Lorne realize that a subspace burst has already reached Michael. Light years away, Michael’s flagship Wraith Cruiser hurtles towards the compound. Imprisoned onboard, a pregnant Teyla begs Kanann, the father of her baby, to help save her. Carter leads a rescue mission to the planet. Her team succeeds in digging up McKay and Lorne, but Ronon and a rapidly deteriorating Sheppard are buried far deeper in the rubble. With Michael and his hybrids on their way back to deal with intruders, and the Daedalus already enroute, the question becomes: Who will reach them first?

The Seed

When Dr. Keller fails to report for her morning shift, concerned team members investigate and are shocked by what they discover: Jennifer, unconscious in her quarters - a mysterious web of tendrils attached to her body. Suspecting her condition may be linked to her research into the wraith data recovered from Michael’s lab, the team makes the decision to bring Beckett out of stasis. The beloved doctor leads the medical investigation while Sheppard and co. are quarantined under suspicion that they may have been exposed to the same virus that has affected Keller. As Beckett struggles to find a solution, the alien organism grows, creeping out into the adjoining corridors toward the main power grid. With Atlantis itself now under threat, Woolsey is ultimately faced with a decision that could cost Keller her life.

Broken Ties

Ronon is ambushed during an off-world mission and awakens, much later, a prisoner of his former friend, Tyre. The fellow Satedan, it turns out, has fallen on hard times since they last crossed paths. Abandoned by the wraith he once served, he is undergoing a physiological and psychological withdrawal from the reverse-feeding process once granted to him as a wraith worshiper. But he believes he has come up with a way to win back the respect of his former masters: by delivering them Ronon. Intent on turning their defiant captive, the wraith begin their process of reverse-feeding - stealing Ronon’s life, bringing him to the brink of death, then restoring his youth. Again, and again, and again. A tip, meanwhile, leads the team to an abandoned village. But Ronon and the wraith are long gone, and the only remnant of their former presence is a seriously injured Tyre who may be their only hope of rescuing their friend.

The Daedalus Variations

When a mysterious, duplicate Daedalus appears in orbit over Atlantis, the team is dispatched to investigate. Once aboard the deserted and severely damaged ship, the team discovers an ominous video message from the former captain. But before they can make sense of the situation, the ship is propelled into an alternate reality. As McKay tries to figure out what is going on, the ship continues to jump through various alternate realities, encountering an alien armada and the blistering heat of an expanding sun. Worse - the team realizes that if they don’t find a way back to their reality soon, they risk being lost forever.

New information added to the General Spoilers post

Lots of little tidbits from Joe Mallozzi in a TV Guide online article where the showrunner answered fan questions:

Although romance will blossom in season five it will not be between Sheppard and Teyla.

He reiterated that there are no plans to revisit the Ford storyline in season five but did not rule out the possibility of it happening at some point in the future.

He described the new race we'll meet in First Contact/The Lost Tribe as "having the potential to be recurring" and refused to comment on whether they were a race we have encountered before in the Stargate universe.

He revealed that there would be "about two-and-a-half" Earth based episodes in season five.

The Midway station will not be rebuilt "any time soon".

Teyla's baby will not be "evil".

When asked if we'd be seeing more of Rodney's past Joe answered that in late season five we see McKay meeting up with an "old friend and rival" who they are currently casting. He added that if everything goes to plan this episode will offer up some fun cameos. He may be referring to episode 16 Brain Storm.

New information for episode 5x7 Whispers

Joe Mallozzi talked on his blog about the difficulties of filming a gunfight scene but it all proved worth it in the end: "Weeks later, I’m watching the director’s cut and when the sequence comes up. We start on the A side coverage of our heroes locking and loading. Cut to the B side - targets approaching. Back to the A side as our heroes open fire. Back to the B side as approaching targets are hit and go down. Back to the A side as our heroes fire away - reload, continue firing. Punch in for some B side hits of the individual targets getting hit and dropping. Back to the A side and on our heroes as the gunfire dies down. They lower their weapons. B side coverage of the carnage. Fabulous! It’s at times like these I realize we really should be shooting up stunt extras more often."

New information for episode 5x13 Outsiders

New information for episode 5x15 Remnants

The first detailed plot information for Remnants has surfaced online.

Richard Woolsey meets scientist Dr Vanessa Conrad, a new recruit to Atlantis with whom he is immediately smitten meanwhile on the mainland Sheppard awakens to find his hands and feet are bound. Sheppard manages to escape his bonds and with his gun and radio gone cautiously returns to his jumper and is shocked to discover an old enemy. One we all believed to be dead - Acastus Kolya.

Back on Atlantis Woolsey searches in vain for information on his new friend Dr Conrad but can find no evidence of her existence, starting to doubt his own sanity and concerned that there is some kind of alien influence at play he undergoes tests trying to get to the bottom the mystery.

While back on the mainland Sheppard begins to realise that his tormentor is not all that he seems Dr Conrad reappears and apologises to Woolsey. She explains that she is one of many "seed carriers" set out into the galaxy by a civilisation on the verge of distinction. Their vessel lay dormant on the of the ocean only to be awakened by a jumper. The intelligence that has taken Conrad's form did so to study Woolsey and gain information to help her complete her mission.

New information added to the 100th Episode post

Joe Mallozzi answered fan questions on the TV Guide community and revealed that they are hoping for Amanda Tapping to appear in the 100th episode but, as he has said several times on his blog, it is all dependant on her schedule.

He also answered a question regarding the rumours that the finale will film in Vegas, he neither confirmed no denied the rumour instead saying that: "We’ve yet to break the 100th episode. However, in our initial spinning, we have discussed the possibility of having the best of both worlds — or galaxies, as the case may be."

Maintainer Announcement - Search & Rescue

It may have come to the attention of many of you that the season opener Search & Rescue has been leaked on to the web. As a result many fans have already seen it.

However, this site is for spoilers not complete synopsis or transcripts of an episode. As a result this community will be treating Search & Rescue as though it has already aired and no further spoilers will be added to its post. If you want to know what happens before it airs, visit other fan communities and message boards and read the comments there.

Do NOT post here asking for a link to the download, if you want it I'm sure a quick search around the net will get you what you need.

Weekly poll & Spoiler Discussion Post - June 20

Finally here it is, our inaugural weekly discussion post. Seeing as the last week has been distinctly short on major spoilers, I've had continuing issues with my computer so haven't had time to prepare and the season is getting ever closer it seemed like a good excuse to share our excitement and discuss what we are most looking forward to in the new season.

So lets talk episodes, which episode of the first half of the season has you bouncing in your seat with anticipation? Perhaps you can't wait to see Ronon visit his dark side in Broken Ties or you are dying to see the return of Todd in The Queen. Maybe the fogged sets of Whispers has you intrigued or you're looking forward to the team action and space battles of The Daedalus Variations.

The discussion thread will now go up tomorrow - assuming my computer doesn't die on me again.

Once again SciFi seems to have made a mess of their promos. On Joe Mallozzi's blog Scifan asked about the line in the promo where they say "a prophet is born" in relation to Teyla's child. Joe seemed rather perplexed by this replying "Are you sure it was Stargate: Atlantis? Doesn’t sound like Stargate: Atlantis." It appears that in later showings of the promo that line has been removed - it does however still contain footage from season 3's The Long Goodbye and season 4's This Mortal Coil featuring Torri Higginson despite her not featuring in season 5.

Paul McGillon tells the official MGM website that despite being a clone teh Carson Beckett we will see in season five will be very much the same character we've come to know and love. He says "there was some comment in our first episode back, ‘The Seed’. There’s a little awareness at first, but that’s diminished now." He also expresses his delight that the three episodes he has filmed thus far (The Seed, Whispers and Outsiders) all feature Beckett in a heavy way and that they haven't just brought him back for brief appearances.

Paul McGillon calls Whispers "a great horror episode" going on to say that other than a brief appearances by David Hewlett at the beginning and the end of the episode Joe Flanigan is the only main cast member featured. The majority of the episode plays out between Sheppard, Beckett and the four woman team.

In an interview with popculturezoo.com Paul McGillon called Outsiders (his third appearance as Carson Beckett in season five) as a "big Beckett and McKay episode" saying it features "a lot of Wraith and a lot of conflict". The interview took part over the phone during a break in filming a scene of Beckett and McKay in a Wraith dart, a scene Paul describes as being "really funny".

Joe Mallozzi defined Remnants as a "suspenseful, character-driven" episode.

Meanwhile work on the script continues "I rewrote the tease of Remnants (adding Dr. Kiang as per Martin’s suggestion and replacing the tree limb after Rob warned me it wouldn’t work) and made some changes to the first act (I addressed Paul’s note by including an early time-cut, lost McKay’s “I said good day, sir.” because Martin didn’t like it, included Zelenka in the control room scene as per everyone’s request, and changed the final beat to avoid repeating a visual from Broken Ties)."

New Promos

The Sci-Fi channel has begun airing a second trailer for season five. Again they have for some unknown reason decided to include irrelevant footage from previous seasons including clips of Torri Higginson despite the fact that she will not be appearing in season five. Still this is slightly longer than the first trailer. Once again a big thank you to Redhooks for providing us with the clip, its much appreciated.

MGM has also released this year's "Superfan" commercials, there are three different versions featuring cameos by Joe Flanigan, Jason Momoa and David Hewlett but the brief season five clips they contain are the same in each version. Season Five - Behind the Scenes Images

Sci-Fi Promo June 13th

The Sci-Fi channel aired a brief promo for the 5th season of Stargate Atlantis after BSG last night. Sadly its very brief and features some old season four material but at least we got a promo. A big thank you to Redhooks for uploading the promo and sharing it with us.

Martin Gero’s directorial debut is now known as “Brain Storm”, Carl Binder’s script becomes “Identity”, while Alan McCullough is going with “Infection” for his episode. Meanwhile episode 19, to be written by Rob Cooper has been titled “Vegas”. As yet there is no title for the season finale. As with all episode titles there may be changes before the episodes come to air.

In his interview with Gateworld Jaason Momoa mentions a new alien race whom he says “look really, really cool” adding that he doesn’t believe they will be back anytime soon but they look “fantastic”. It is unclear as to which episode he is referring to but it seems likely that it is The Daedalus Variations as the interview took place during the filming of the first few episodes of the season.

Actor Tyler McClendon has joined the list of actors who the producers turn to when in need of a Wraith. McClendon will make his first appearance as the Wraith who captures Ronon in Broken Ties and will return, as a different Wraith, in Outsiders.

Jason Momoa describes his and Joe Flanigan’s experience of filming the season opener as “pretty crazy” adding “…we’re just trapped. Crumbled buildings. Head to toe with ash, mud, blood. It was just pretty intense.”

New information added to the Broken Ties post

Gateworld have published an interview with Jason Momoa where he talks about the challenge of filming Broken Ties describing the episode as awesome. “ probably the best episode -- the hardest thing as an actor [for me] to do. Because even though not a lot is scripted, for Ronon there's not a lot of dialogue. It's his looks and a lot of pain that he goes through. Just a lot of pain.” He told Gateworld. “a lot of pain. I get to play a heroin addict times ten. I've never gotten to play that kind of role before, where I have to be all jacked up and hopped up. The most that anyone's ever been hopped up. So I've got to dig deep in my imagination what it would be like -- that pain, to have every muscle ache and every fiber inside of me just screaming, on fire, just boiling. And actually having to cry for someone to kill me.

to the point where he's like, "Just f***ing kill me. Get this over with." And then not. So it was pretty heavy. And I spent a big part of the day ... it was the greatest acting experience I've had so far. The end of the episode -- I don't want to revisit it ever again. It was a pretty dark place to go to.”

Jason was, however, disappointed with one aspect of the episode. A fight scene between Ronon and Tyre (Mark Dacascos) did not turn out the way he hoped. “It just sucks because you put a lot of time and effort into something. It was a big fight. It goes from swords to guns to hand-to-hand. To get a really good fight, you have to cover it properly. It sucks because the director didn't have time. Because we didn't have time.”

Joe Mallozzi has completed his first draft of the script, the first person to give feedback is script co-ordinator Alex Levine “Alex Levine, who went over the script before distributing it, had some thoughts. He found the Shen imbroglio too subtle (I thought it might be). He bumped on the end of Act IV and its resolution (I figured some would). He felt the reveal needed to be moved up and the big decision needed more of a build.”

The notes session on Remnants allows the other writers to have their say on the script as Joe predicted some took issue with certain scenes: “Marty G. objected to my brutal treatment of Sheppard while Paul took issue with one particular Holy Shit Moment in that regard. I agreed that the scenes are dark, but I argued they’re necessarily so. No clean and comical this time out for our hero as the chickens come home to roost. Or, in this case, one particularly bad-ass rooster. Alex’s concerns about the subtlety of the Shen imbroglio were echoed and some great suggestions offered with regard to the McKay-Zelenka scenes. From the cover notes, we moved on to the page notes. Some discussion on the mechanics of the transporter scene, the mainland intro, the off-world fooferah, the short list, the “convincing” gloves, the infirmary scene, and the reveal.”

Let me start off by saying a big thank you to everyone who has commented or e-mailed me over the past day - I had intended to respond to each of you separately but I hadn't counted on so many responses so please don't be offended if I try and address the issues raised in this post, as I said yesterday I'm pressed for time this week and it also opens things up for more potential discussion.

First and foremost thank you for all your kind words of encouragement, I truly appreciate the fact that so many of you went to the trouble of commenting. Now on to the issues raised in your comments:

I think the thing that has struck me the most is that so many of you were unsure whether it was okay to post comments here. I have to take the blame for that one, I obviously didn't make it clear that it was okay to do so and should have found ways to encourage it more. For the record unmoderated comments are enabled on all posts so you can either leave comments on the episode page or reply to the update posts, which ever you prefer - I shall change the wording on the update posts and add something to the blurb box to try and make this clearer. Also for those of you who do not have a Livejournal account but may still be reading the community you are able to leave comments so don’t be afraid to join in, just be sure to leave a name so we know who you are.

So now you know that commenting is encouraged, go for it. The only thing I ask is that you all respect one another's opinions and keep the discussion friendly. As a couple of people have mentioned in their comments one of the nice things about the comm is that you can read the spoilers without having to deal with the agendas and petty arguments that inevitably afflict online fandoms, I think we can all agree that it would be nice if we could keep it that way.

Another suggestion that cropped up a couple of times was that the community should be opened up for members to post, now this was something myself and alipeeps, who helped me set up the comm and did a lot of the early work (so if you see her around be sure to thank her too), discussed at length when we first started and the conclusion we came to was that it simply wouldn't work. Allowing anyone to post spoilers here would inevitably lead to confusion and the propagation of false spoilers whether intentionally or by accident. One of the reasons I wanted to start this community was to weed out the rumours and speculation, that, through endless discussion and misinterpretation, become rooted in people's minds to the point where they become "fact".

I can think of several examples in the past few months of speculation that has got out of control and led to controversy. There have been rumours about Joe Flanigan cutting back his role in the show, Jason Momoa leaving at the end of the season, Teyla being killed off, Zelenka being killed off, Lorne being replaced by Vega, Keller being pregnant - none of these are true but I've come across people who have, through the wonders of online fandom, become convinced that they are indeed fact. I feel it is my job here to put an end to these rumours not encourage them and the only way I can see how to do that is to keep a tight reign on what is posted here. If any of you stumble across spoilers that I've missed whether they're on the net or in a magazine or you simply manage to wrangle some spoilers out of an actor at a convention then please do contact me via e-mail I will be most grateful for any and all help and I'll be sure to thank you in my posts.

By far the most popular suggestion and one that I am more than willing to try out is that we have some kind of weekly discussion post. Running through all of your suggestions the simplest way to do things seems to be that once a week, say a Monday morning (a nice little diversion on that first day back at work), I post a quick round up of the previous week's headline spoilers and open the floor for discussion. Perhaps including a weekly poll or suggesting discussion points would help get the ball rolling - thereby giving all of us a place where we can openly discuss spoilers without fear of unintentionally spoiling others.

Again the only thing I ask is that you all remain respectful toward one another, criticism of an actor/character/writer etc is of course allowed, bashing is not. Stating your preference, disinterest or dislike of a ship is allowed - flaming someone who disagrees with you is not. The most important thing to me is that this community is welcoming to all fans of Stargate Atlantis, that everyone feels comfortable posting their point of view without fear of being attacked by others.

As soon as I get the time I’ll work on rewording the profile and blurb boxes to hopefully make things a little clearer for everyone with regards to commenting and, if no one has any objections, I’ll start our first weekly discussion thread on Monday when I should have a bit more time on my hands than I have this week.

Maintainer Announcement - Where do we go from here?

This community was created as a kind of reference point for spoilers, somewhere where all the little tidbits, quotes and pictures could be drawn together in a way that would allow people to make sense of the chaos of spoilers while filtering out the rumours and speculation. When we first began there seemed to be a lot of interest in such a resource, I know we had a major hiccup along the way but since then I have been striving to do my best. Although it may not sound like it, there is a surprising amount of work in pulling this together and I put a great deal of time an effort into the community.

Unfortunately this isn't the kind of community that allows for much participation from its members so I get next to nothing in the way of feedback which, admittedly, can be discouraging but as this community is primarily a reference site its understandable. However what is disheartening is that in recent months the only feedback I've had has been generally negative in tone.

So the question I find myself asking is do people want me to continue with the community? If not then I'll start to wrap things up once season five starts airing.

But if the general consensus is that you do want me to continue then are there are changes that need to be made? Where am I going wrong? I'm open to criticism and more than willing to incorporate people's suggestions if they are practical. I'm genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts and getting your input you can leave a message here or contact me via e-mail at pilgrim@rocketship.com

In an interview with the official MGM site David Hewlett talked about the impact new head of the expedition Rchard Woolsey would have on McKay : “You know, he’s a bureaucrat. And McKay understands bureaucrats because up until Atlantis, he kind of was one. He’s the academic version of a bureaucrat; he wants everything by the book, by the things that he’s read. So there’s this weird sense of complete and utter disgust at the fact that he’s taking over, but at the same time, he’s not going to argue with someone who takes the safer route through things.” Hewlett laughs, “McKay’s generally not the one to leap into the fray! So I think there’s a sort of begrudging agreement. It puts McKay in a strange position, because he somehow sees himself somewhere between Sheppard and Woolsey. Somewhere in between those two, there’s a McKay, because McKay definitely has to dial up the hero thing once in a while, but for the most part he’s probably more Woolsey than Woolsey.”

Hewlett also touched on the “love triangle” that is developing between McKay, Keller and Ronon speaking of McKay’s inability to have a “normal” relationship - the issue will be touched on in both The Shrine and Tracker.

David Hewlett talked about the interaction between McKay and Lorne in Search and Rescue, an episode that finds the two of the trapped together. David Hewlett tells the official MGM site. “Lorne is just the opposite of McKay. Lorne’s this no complaints, do-the-job, sturdy soldier type, versus McKay who makes a meal out of everything. It is quite a fun dynamic, so hopefully they’ll pursue that a bit more.”

New information added to the “The Queen” post

In an interview with Gateworld writer Alan McCullough revealed that the episode begins with the team seeking out Todd, using Michael’s research Atlantis has produced a new gene therapy that would allow the Wraith to gain nutrients from normal food, removing their need to feed on humans:

“So this is something that obviously would be very valuable to us and we're trying to pitch Todd on it to help us develop it further and test it. Of course, Todd, who's always got his own agenda, asks us to do something in return, which is what then the episode becomes about.

It becomes a very Teyla-focused story. Essentially what Todd requires is he's joined an alliance of other hives, but the only way you can be -- he's had to fake his way in and lie and say that he had a queen on board.

I don't want to say more. Perhaps I've already said too much. But it goes in an interesting direction after that.”

David Hewlett discusses Tracker and the burgeoning friendship between Ronon and McKay “[Tracker] will be really fun because that’s going to have some Ronon and McKay stuff, basically addressing what has become a love triangle. It’s Ronon and McKay out in the woods the whole time, so that could be humorous. There’s definitely a begrudging friendship there, it’s obvious from episodes gone by, like me healing his wounds when I had the power to do that. Ronon seems to be very good at getting to and judging the core of people - unless he’s being misled by his friends. I think he knows that McKay is not a bad person at the core, he’s just bad at showing it. And bad at doing anything that involves any physical dexterity!”

New information added to the “Prodigal” post

The first detailed spoilers have surfaced for Prodigal an episode that will see the return of an old enemy.

The episode begins with a peaceful evening in Atlantis, Ronon and Woolsey are in the control room when a jumper comes through the gate. The jumper emits a pulse that creates a forcefield that leaves everyone in the immediate vicinity unconscious. The jumper hatch opens to reveal Michael and six of his hybrids - Michael has come to Atlantis for Teyla‘s child.

Michael and his minions set to work, protected by the force field that knocks out anyone who comes into contact with it, as Lorne unfortunately finds out. Michael’s captures Teyla and her child while Sheppard and McKay work to on getting through the force field. But Michael isn’t satisfied with his prisoners - he decides to set Atlantis to self-destruct before he leaves.

Remnants will be a three strand story, rather than an “A” & “B” plot Joe describes each one as a separate “A” plot: “First, there’s Sheppard and his mainland troubles. Then, there’s McKay and his Zelenka-assisted investigation of the mystery find. And, finally, there’s Woolsey and his good news/bad news/bizarre news day.

Most of the beats are sound so I don’t expect much scene-shifting. The only one that worries me is what I’ll be doing to Sheppard at the end of the third act. I suspect more than one person in the room will say something to the effect of: “Are you nuts?!” . Should make for an interesting debate.”

Joe’s thoughts turn to the casting of the guest characters for Remnants: “I phoned up Paul Weber this afternoon and discussed casting for the episode. Apparently, the nefarious one’s deal has closed. Next up, we need to get the ball rolling on T.T. Once that’s done, it’s only a matter of finding a Lieberman and a Conrad. Bob has already offered a casting suggestion for the latter.”

Joe Mallozzi reassured fans that despite the introduction of gate technician Amelia Banks we will still be seeing Chuck Campbell in season five.

He also added that Sharon Taylor (who portrays Banks) is a black belt kick boxer, a talent that we will see put to use in the show.

chocolate84 has posted some more detailed spoilers suggesting this episode will be full of twists and turns as the characters cross and double-cross one another in an attempt to stay alive.

Jervis, a member of the village council is prepared to give up the Balarans to the Wraith ans is unhappy with Sheppard’s proposal while one of the Balarans, Safaris, sells out Beckett and McKay to the Wraith in exchange for his life. Here’s what chocolate84 has to say:
“Sheppard doesn't react well when he notices the two [Beckett and McKay] disappeared and pays a visit to Jervis. Faced with a gun pointed at his head, the man denies having anything to do with it and provides him with another perspective. Sheppard leaves.

On the Hive ship, McKay and Beckett are working. Beckett isn't doing so well, though.

Meanwhile, a worried and very nervous Elson visits Jervis in his cell. He says that Jervis was right all along, that they should have listened to him, for even though the Atlanteans' claim to have a "plan", he isn't sure it's going to do anything but risk all their lives. He asks if Jervis could make the Wraith honor the original deal. To make the man believe he's serious, Elson gives him the keys to the cell and tells him where the Outsiders are hiding.

On board of the Hive, there's something fishy going on as well…”

New information added to the “Outsiders” post

Gateworld and Stargate Solutions have posted the first major spoilers for Outsiders. In the episode we meet the Balarans, survivors of the virus Michael created based on the Hoffan drug. The virus has left them immune to Wraith feeding and any Wraith that tries to feed off them dies.

The Atlantis expedition, including Dr Carson Beckett, has helped to resettle the Balarans on a new world where the natives have welcomed them into their community but when they discover the Wraith are coming for the Balarans, who they view as a threat, the village council is faced with deciding what to do with the “outsiders”.

Colonel Sheppard offers a solution, with Atlantis’s help they will evacuate the entire settlement, some 600 people, to a new world. The council agrees and Sheppard and the team prepare to attack the Wraith guarding the gate before the hive ship turns up but not everyone wants to leave their world…

Guest characters include Balarans Novo and Safaris and village leaders Elson, Jervis & Renni

Firstly a little bit of a confusion with episodes 15 & 16. On May 12th Joe Mallozzi posted the following:
“Good news: HE [Martin Gero] is now writing “A Very Special Stargate: Atlantis”. Bad news: He takes the #16 slot which means I’m writing #15 which will have to be ready to prep on the day we get back from our summer hiatus.”

But it appears that this is not in fact the case. In response to a question on his blog Joe replied that he will still be writing “A Very Special Stargate: Atlantis”, now known as Remnants, in the #15 slot. While Martin Gero would still be writing and directing the episode based on his own pitch which will tentatively air as episode 16. So essentially they have just swapped slots in the schedule.

The two episode posts have been edited accordingly, apologies for any confusion caused.

An interesting snippet from the Australian Sci-Fi channel website who have been posting blog entries from a recent set visit:
“Walking around the Season 5 sets gives some indication as to the direction of the show. A brand new space ship is being constructed, production offices are swamped with images of a new 'Lost Tribe' that is anything but primitive in appearance (actually not that dissimilar to the 'super soldier')”

Presumably this is a reference to the Kull warrior super-soldiers from SG1.
