Another pinch hit request

  • Nov. 29th, 2009 at 9:03 PM
I'm looking for someone to write a McKay and Sheppard friendship story. If you think you could pinch hit a story by 10th December, please comment here with a contact e-mail address so we can send the assignment to you. Thank you!

I'm screening comments to maintain that air of mystery! But I'll edit the post once I have a volunteer.

Got one, thanks!

Things I'd like: John/Rodney, though the story doesn't have to revolve around them, it's my canon that they're in love, so that's what I'd like to read.  I like plottiness or dreamy character building and moments, and I love first time fics and confessions, and taking a while for them to get there, and a little h/c can make it all the better, but not necessary.  I also immensely heart the team, Ronon, Teyla, John, Rodney, as individuals or together.  I like to see how they interact, how they're important to each other.  Also love AUs and silly harlequin stories.  Oh, and fairy tale anything makes me very glad!
Things I wouldn't like: a universe where John and Rodney are just friends, or aren't deeply important to each other.   Also, noncon of any kind, really.
What I can do: I can do slash or gen.  I love John/Rodney, and also find the women of SGA, Teyla, and Elizabeth (my namesake!) really interesting; how they fit into this world and interact with each other.
What I can't do: No NC-17 writing for me, and no pairing of John or Rodney with other people (in the long term, anyways.)
Pinch hitter?: Alas, no.

Things I'd like: slash, McKay/Sheppard is my usual, but I'm open to others and even threesomes, or OT4/team love. science, humor, h/c, affection without being ooc,AU, crossovers and pastiche (I'm open to all sorts of fandoms but don't know anime type at all), playful kink (where they're just having fun, but it's not a lifestyle) well-fleshed slices of life; outsider POVs; stories written at least partially in other forms, such as letters (but please not entirely in netspeak or other teen lingo). Rimming is Love. Jewish content would be loved like matzo ball soup. Humor, realistic expression of emotion (i.e don't turn them into 13 year old girls), smut (not a necessity, but always a treat),
Things I wouldn't like: mpreg, graphic het, torture, embarrassment we're supposed to find funny, angst based on soap opera style misunderstandings, serious kink (i.e fisting, bloodplay, golden showers/scat), out of character behavior. My heart broken in a way that can’t be mended. If I find myself at the end of the story saying “John (or Rodney), you idiot” and feeling sad, that will not be good.

What I can do: slash of any rating. I've mostly done McKay/Sheppard, and one McKay/Sheppard/Dex but would write the rest of the main gang. OT4, team or character based gen. crossovers with non-anime fandoms, depending on the fandom, utilizing pop culture/musical references common to people from John and Rodney's (and mine) generation. Better with character study than deep plot. Strengths in humor, description. I’m a poet, as well, though that seems less than useful here.

What I can't do: .graphic het (and honestly, I'd rather not do a het pairing as the main one), fic that needs detailed math knowledge (my barely passing high school algebra 20 plus years ago won't help here); ditto for detailed sports knowledge; I’m probably not your go-to-girl for epic military plottiness. kink as lifestyle, non con

Pinch hitter?: probably, again depending on the request.

So, someone mentioned a secret santa thing...

Things I'd like: I'd like either Sheppard/McKay, Sheppard/McKay/Lorne or Lorne/Zelenka, please. I love obliviousness and jealousy and someone not realising what they want until someone else nearly takes it away. I love a well done cliche and I'm inordinately fond of Hermiod. Also, a happy ending is a must.
Things I wouldn't like: No death fic, no mpreg, no kid!fic. No character bashing either, please. Also, I'm not a fan of Beckett, so I'd prefer if he didn't play a big part in the story, if at all possible.
What I can do: I'd prefer to write slash and non-Beckett, but I'll pretty much do anything if necessary. (Which is lucky, because I've heard the mods here are mean...)
What I can't do: I'm not good at death-fic, mpreg or Beckett, but I can try if I need to.
Pinch hitter?: Possibly ::grin::

Things I'd like: Lorne/Kavanagh, but I'll take any slash pairing with Lorne. or Kav. and I'd really like a shiny crossover plot with a scifi show like SG, Dr Who, Torchwood, Eureka, etc.
Things I wouldn't like: mpreg, cracky animals, HET, uber!amounts of H/C.
What I can do: Just about any pairing that's not het, but I prefer secondary charcters/pairings.
What I can't do: mpreg, cracky animals, HET, uber!amounts of H/C.
Pinch hitter?: Not this year.

Yeah, let's do this!

Things I'd like: John/Rodney, John/Ronon, or OT4. I'm a definite John girl, so John getting to be happy makes me happy. I love soldier!John, quiet bonding moments, humor, adventure, the sense that these people rely on one another. Intense can be great, but I like at least some light at the end of the tunnel. Zelenka sightings are always welcome.

Things I wouldn't like: John portrayed as a jerk, character bashing, really overt sentimentality (sweet is fine, just not too sticky!), heavy H/C, permanent major character damage/death (not for my holiday challenge, thanks! Temporary injuries, close calls, or fake-outs are fine. :g:)

What I can do: John/Rodney, John/Ronon. Just about any characters gen.

What I can't do: Character bashing, heavy power games in relationships, non-con, H/C.

Pinch hitter?: Probably not, sorry!

Things I'd Like: John/Rodney + happy ending is a must, with a focus on Team = family preferable. I love stories about life on Atlantis (and the expedition as an extended family), and life in a much more diverse Pegasus galaxy than TPTB ever showed us. Love Woolsey, Carter, Elizabeth, Radek, Lorne, and appearances by tertiary characters (Marie the surgical nurse! random characters on-screen for 10 seconds!) are great. I love it when authors experiment with structure and format, so if you've been itching to do a script-style story or something told out of order (or anything, really), go for it!

Things I Wouldn't Like: Gratuitous angst, graphic torture, Carson or Cameron Mitchell featuring in any big way, character bashing, partner betrayal, they're-stuck-on-Earth-permanently fics.

What I Can Do: I've done John/Rodney and gen, and I'd be willing to try pretty much any pairing that doesn't involve John or Rodney ending up with someone else. I've stayed around a PG-13 level, but I'd be willing to try something more explicit. I've never done a total AU, but again I'd be willing to try. I think dialogue is my strong point.

What I Can't Do: In addition to the Things I Wouldn't Like, I'm not the best at intricate plots, action, or making characters permanently sad.

Pinch Hitter?: I can't promise I'll be available, but please do ask if you need help!

Gonna be a Lantean Blue Christmas...

Things I'd like: Oh, McShep, how I love thee, let me count the ways. Erm. That could take a while. So, yeah. McShep. I'm a sucker for First Times, AMTDI, Pining meets Clueless and so forth. I don't mind a little angst, but it must be resolved. I like my escapism to make me happy, and allow me to, you know, escape. Team fic is great, I love plot of charater driven stories. Partial or fully AU is fine, as long as it's not totally cracky. Some crack is okay. Humour, snark, and inevitable surrendering to the hotness of the McShep is yummy. The only thing better than John and Rodney snarking is John and Rodney kissing. Often there is snark involved. Mmmm.

Things I wouldn't like: Femslash is just not my thing. Character death just makes me sad. Major angst from which there is no escape. These things harsh my squee and would not a good stocking stuffer make.

What I can do: I can write McShep. I feel relatively comfy with writing Radek, Lorne, Elizabeth and Woolsey; SG1 team is cool as well; can handle crossover-ish things with Buffy or Pretender (I'm not sure how, but I think I could make it work) I can do humour, snark and I'm willing to attempt teh hawt sex.

What I can't do: No Rodney/Keller. Sorry, just can't do it. I'll just split them up. Unless that's what you want. Won't be writing femslash. No heavy angst.

Pinch hitter?: Sorry, no. Can barely get my own stuff done on time!

Please, dear Santa ....

Things I'd like: McShep with a happy ending. While I love Rodney and John especially and like plots focusing on the two of them, I also love Ronon and Teyla, Lorne, Radek, Jeannie (Kaleb and Madison, too!), and Carson. I love AUs of all kinds and colours, but I'd especially like a Stargate AU, nevermind where it's split off ... for example ... they return to Atlantis differently after the Ancients kicked them out, or they never went to Atlantis in the first place but still somehow ended up at the SGC, to just take two examples, anything goes, really, as long as Rodney and John end up together somewhere. I don't mind if it's love at first sight or if Rodney realises John loves him after he breaks it off with Keller, as long as they're a couple at the end. I love it when either of them do something incredibly brave (or stupid) to save the other, or when they do something that'd look absolutely horrible from the outside (like John killing someone in cold blood because he hurt Rodney, or Rodney going absolutely ballistic and wiping out a planet because they hurt John - or the team of course).

I love fluff, angst, romance, action, h/c, and while I love a little crack, I'd rather this story was non-cracky if at all possible.

Things I wouldn't like: het, femslash, BDSM, D/s, torture for the sake of torture, scat/watersports, necrophilia, incest, hurt without comfort (aka pointless hurting of characters without any making it up to them), character death of a main character. Messing up my OTP, so no John/anyone but Rodney or Rodney/anyone but John. Exception is Rodney breaking it off with Keller and then getting together with John. No partner betrayal/abuse.

What I can do: I write solely McKay/Sheppard, but can write Lorne/Radek and Beckett/Cadman as secondary pairings. I can write crossovers

What I can't do: (Almost the same as my "Things I wouldn't like".) Het, femslash, BDSM, D/s, torture for the sake of torture, scat/watersports, necrophilia, incest, hurt without comfort (aka pointless hurting of characters without any making it up to them), character death of a main character. Messing up my OTP, so no John/anyone but Rodney or Rodney/anyone but John. Exception is Rodney breaking it off with Keller and then getting together with John. No partner betrayal/abuse. I can't write sex scenes for the life of me.

Pinch hitter?: I can't tell how busy I'll be during that time, but I'll give a tentative yes here.

All I want for Chrismas ...

Things I'd like: Must be McShep (my OTP). Other than that, I would like a first time fic (preferably first time sex, not just kissing, but I'll of course take what I can get) I LOVE angst, so that's something I will enjoy, as long as it has a happy end. I’d like the story to actually have a plot. I’m fine with AU in all variations, kidfic, m-preg, jealousy, pining etc. Happy end is a must have other than that anything goes!

Things I wouldn't like: het, femslash, hurt without comfort (aka pointless hurting of characters without any making it up to them) character death of a main character. Messing up my OTP, so no John/anyone but Rodney or Rodney/anyone but John. Exception is Rodney breaking it off with Keller and then getting together with John. NO turning them into kids(I'd like for them to have sex if possible, remember???), animals or anything else that doesn’t look, act or feel like a human. No heavy kinks, no partner betrayal/abuse.

What I can do: I’m pretty good at writing angst. I will write slash (m/m). I can do AU, m-preg, jealousy, fluff, oblivious/pining, mild kink, torture, non-con, doub-con, rape/torture aftermath, friendship, Beckett, Zelenka, Lorne etc(‘minor’ characters that are actually somewhat developed). Despite the angst, I’m better at ending stories happily instead of unhappy.

What I can't do: Het, femslash, death of John or Rodney (minor characters are okay) I won't write my OTP with anyone else, so no John/anyone but Rodney, Rodney/anyone but John, except if I am allowed to break them up. I prefer to write McShep, because while I CAN do John/Rodney friendship, I think they belong together as lovers. I won’t do any serious kinks, including but not limited to bloodplay, watersports, scat, heavy BDSM, etc. I prefer not to write extremely graphic torture or non-con. I could do PWP but if possible I'd rather not, I prefer to have an actual plot. I can’t write a Keller, Woolsey or Carter centric fic. If I'm asked to write gen, it might turn out boring, so be warned.

Pinch hitter?: Can't really say how busy I will be. Probably not, but if in need, feel free to ask.

Oh, good, I'm not late.

Things I'd like: These are a few of my fav-o-rite things ... I love humor, I love snarky banter, John and Rodney acting like they're 12 over a new toy, Ancient technology (speaking of toys), discovering new things Atlantis can do, ethical conundrums in the Pegasus galaxy, action/adventure/excitement, why have so few people written X-302 dog fights?, plot-plot-plot, John indulging his love of flight, Rodney's glee over scientific discoveries. I also love genderswap, John in a dress (genderswapped or not), and Pegasus galaxy civilizations that manage to outwit the Wraith. I enjoy SG-1/SGA crossovers. And if you try to fit all of this into one story you may go mad.

Things I wouldn't like: Character death. I can go for a bittersweet ending, but sad endings, no. Multiple pairings or OT3/OT4. Hurt/comfort. I'm AU'd out for the time being. Not in the mood for PWPs of late.

What I can do: I can write John/Rodney, or Gen, I can do Gen. I can do humor, Ancient equipment, SG-1/SGA crossovers, action/adventure. Light romance. Holiday fic.

What I can't do: Het, I find Keller dull, I really don't like Kanaan, I can only do death!fic if I'm in a rotten mood, and I've been out of the mood to do PWPs or heavy NC-17 fic lately. I've been so deep into an AU for so long, I'm AU'd out unless it's very, very close to canon.

Pinch hitter?: Probably not this year.

Gulp... here goes.

Things I'd like: McShep! McShep! McShep! and more McShep! I'd love something rated R to NC-17 (the higher the rating the better in my book! and if the sex is pretty graphic, I'm a happy camper!) I love H/C, first time, angst, Mpreg (Rodney gets pg,  John wants the baby and Rodney doesn't...) break up/make up, Pining!/oblivious!, AU. Any of the above will work for me as long as it's McShep-centric! :-D
If a doctor is needed, please make it Carson, whether he's the original or the clone. Jealousy that leads into McShep (in this case Rodney/other or John/other can be hinted at, i.e Rodney/Katie Brown, but not last long please...), and whether canon or AU, I'd like the boys in character in terms of attitude.

Things I wouldn't like: I'm pretty much a McShep OTPer, so other pairings don't work for me. I don't like fem-slash, or character death! No gender switch please. No Jeniffer Keller please.

What I can do: I can really only write McShep, I know, how closed minded of me. I just don't have the voices for the other (non-team) characters. I can write G to NC-17. MPreg, H/C, I do best with the relationship writing rather than the going off world writing. Pining!/oblivious!, first time.

What I can't do: Het, any pairing other than McShep, Gen, Not that great at the action-y stuff or the science-y stuff either (so I really usually focus on the relationship/friendship/other)

Pinch hitter?: No thanks. I'll be too busy finishing the fic I'll be writing to write any others.
