Okay, here is what happens:

You can post a request for that Gen story/artwork/video you’ve always wanted and maybe someone will take up the challenge. You don’t have to reciprocate (ie you don’t have to do anything in return, you just post your idea and see if anyone answers). Of course, if you are a writer/vidder/artist, please check out the unanswered requests just in case you find something to inspire you!

There will also be Admin issued challenges from time to time. Some of these will be open-ended, some will have a deadline. Please submit ideas for future challenges via the most recent Admin post (use Admin tag to locate it).

This is a gen challenge community for fiction, artwork and videos.

For the purposes of this community, gen is defined as:
Any story, picture or video that deals with no relationships outside of established canon relationships, and even in those cases the relationship must not be the main focus of the story, picture or video. No pre-slash or pre-non-canon-ship.

No graphic sex of any kind is allowed. Non-con is not banned, but please post a warning for those who find these stories disturbing.

Please rate your submissions, and if the rating is higher than PG-13 (or equivalent) please provide reasons for the rating (eg language, torture, disturbing imagery etc).

Please try to post your submission in one entry where possible. I would ask that you post your submission here first and then wait a week before posting elsewhere, but I won’t enforce that rule.

Always use a lj cut for stories, artwork or anything large.

Spoilers - Please issue warnings for episode spoilers for the current or most recent season showing/shown in the US. If you are making a request that involves spoilers, please put the spoilery parts behind a lj cut.

Other warnings - Please issue warnings for character death, non-con, torture beyond what is seen in canon, language beyond what is heard in canon, supernatural and/or horror, and anything else that might be considered upsetting and/or squick the more sensitive amongst us (obviously this is a matter of interpretation, please just do your best in this area).

Please indicate genre/category where possible (eg AU, angst, friendship, drama, missing scene etc).

Please leave a comment on the request to say that you are taking up the challenge. This way we don't end up with ten people all writing the same fic/making the same vid etc. Of course, the more open and general requests can have more than one response. I'm trusting people to make up their own minds about responding to one of these requests if someone else already has.

Please do not add to your gen request anything about slash or het (ship). This is a gen only request site, using it to ask for slash/het as well as gen is not allowed, even if you ask for it to be sent to you and not posted here.

Please do not request or post anything that is of a character-bashing nature. Dark side fic is welcome, but not bashing for the sake of it. Also, when making a request, while you can say you don't like a character please do so without bashing said character.

Plot idea: (the more general the idea the more chance of a response, but feel free to put down specific ideas if you wish)

Song title and artist: (indicate the song you want to be used, if you have a specific song in mind.)
Do you have a mp3 the vidder can use? (yes or no)
Character(s): (indicate which character(s) you want the video to be about)
Idea: (any ideas you have for the song, or if you don’t have a specific song in mind, then what you would like to see in a song vid and suggest possibly music types)
Genre: (Angst, Action/Adventure, Hurt/Comfort, Humour, Friendship, Team etc)
Don’t want: (anything that you specifically don’t want to see)
Definitely want: (these are things that are a must, even if other ideas/suggestions aren’t met)
Anything else: (anything that you want to add that isn’t covered by the above)
Do you want a download, or is online okay: (yes, no, whichever, both)
Lyrics: (if you have a specific song in mind, you can post the lyrics under a lj cut here)

When you receive a response please provide a link to it on your request post.
