The bonus round is now closed! (Only a *little* bit late ...) The Genficathon comm is now closed for another year -- thank you all for participating, and I hope to see you back next year!

All stories will remain archived at the community unless you would like them to be removed. If at any point you'd rather not have your story archived here, just ask and it will be taken down.

There are four parts.

The Black Lake, Part 1 )
Tudor Sheppard
Title: On the Wings of an Eagle
Author: Eildon Rhymer ([info]rhymer23)
Genre: AU
Prompt Those magnificent men in their flying machines
Word Count: c. 50,000, plus cover and six illustrations
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Summary: It started with a man crashing into a herb garden. Soon a misfit band of four exiles are caught up in a wild ride of sword fights, sewing, rescue missions, shopping trips, high treason, lute-playing, changing the face of scientific knowledge forever, the imminent risk of hideous death, and comfits.

Notes: Something about gen ficathon bonus rounds seems to bring out the illustrated historical AU in me. Last year I did The Pirate's Prisoner, and this year I've gone back nearly 200 years to the year 1555. For a prompt about flying machines. Er, yes, well. I suspect that normal people wouldn't see a prompt about flying machines and immediately think "We'll have Tudors! With planes!" but I blame Leonardo Da Vinci. He famously designed flying machines on paper, but didn't get them to work, but he was merely Leonardo; he wasn't Doctor Rodney McKay.

23rd-May-2009 06:45 pm - SGA Genficathon 2009: Bonus Round!
Team-genficathon
Okay, time for the fun part: the Bonus Round! All of this year's prompts are now available for anyone to write. There's no need to claim prompts -- you can simply pick any prompt and any genre, and start writing. If you were unable to finish your story this year, whether or not it was pinch-hit, you are more than welcome to finish and post it in the community. I've opened up community access so that all members can post -- have fun!

The Bonus Round will run for *checks calendar* ... how about a month? It will close on June 20th, 2009.

Your fic may be simultaneously posted or linked in other communities or journals; you can also post the header here and simply link to your story. Please use the same header and subject-line formatting as the other stories in the community, to keep it all standard and make it easier to tag!

Thank you again to everyone who participated, helped out, linked and commented -- it's been another great ficathon, and I'm thrilled with the turnout!

The bonus round (plus a list of prompts to choose from) will be open a little later today.

2009 Genficathon Master List )
Team-genficathon
That's all, folks! Well, that's round one anyway ... the anonymous stories! Thank you again to all of the story-posting mods, the writers, pinch-hitters and commenters. We had 48 stories this year -- a fantastic turnout, and an excellent crop of stories ranging from short to epic-length and even a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story! You guys made this ficathon great for the second year in a row -- thank you all!

(IMPORTANT: If you turned in a story that WASN'T posted, please contact me immediately via email or PM, and I will check and post it for you before the anonymous part of the ficathon runs out! We do try, but it's possible that someone may have slipped through the cracks.)

If you were unable to complete your story before the deadline, or you'd like to write for one of the other prompts that was offered, never fear ... the Bonus Round will open along with the author reveals in a week. It's a no-pressure, flashfic-style second round of stories wherein anyone can write and post a story for any of the genres and prompts that were offered this year. It will start next weekend and run 'til the middle of June, and anyone is welcome to write for it!

And now, on to the second round of author guessing. Last week's author guessing post has the list of authors.

Summary: Forced into a native rite of passage, the team must each face life and death challenges along their chosen path. The only catch is that it's up to you to choose that path for them.
Notes: This fic is a Choose Your Own Adventure story. If you aren't familiar with those, it means you will be given choices at various points, including which character you will follow, the direction they go, etc. Simply click on the persented option you choose and the story will continue based on that choice. The choices could lead to safety or even more dire situations, it could bring team members together, or even a death. Don't panic, though. If you do make a bad decision, you'll be given the choice to start over at the end of each section. And when you finish following one character, you can go back and follow another, or the same character with different choices... the story may even change if you do. Because of the many, many links involved with this fic, the entire story is posted on a secret LJ all of its own. This includes the comments. But if you want to scan the comments before the fic, you can do so here.
