We Are the Reason [

Let's not forget that Jesus is the reason for this season. Not Santa, not shopping, not friends, not even our family.

It's Jesus and Jesus alone.

As little children
We would dream of Christmas morn
Of all the gifts and toys
We knew we'd find
But we never realized
A baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives

We were the reason
That He gave His life
We were the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

As the years went by
We learned more about gifts
The giving of ourselves
And what that means
On a dark and cloudy day
A man hung crying in the rain
All because of love, all because of love

I've finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him, for Him

He is my reason to live

There's a young girl in our church (daughter of two of our members) who was suffering from leukemia. She has received the bone marrow transplant, and her condition seems to have stablised, but I just received news that there is a complication (cancer cells have moved to her brain, if it spreads further into the marrow it will result in death). Medical test results will be out soon, please keep her in your prayers if you can for she has already battled for months. Pray that God will heal her so that she can be a wonderful witness for God to man, and that she can enjoy the abundance of the life God has set before us.

I found this while reading what is probably a very old blog entry.

I'm rather impressed by the interpretation of the parable of the Good Samaritan; while its accuracy and theological orthodoxy may be questionable, I hope it helps us think more and think deeper about the Word of God.

Personally, I'd think that in such an interpretation, Jericho does not represent anything good. It was the first city set aside for destruction when the Hebrews took Canaan, and its rebuilding cost the lives of the builder's children - in other words, it's as close to a cursed city as it gets. Therefore, I would think that Jericho would represent hell, doom, death, or something negative. It would therefore seem that Satan's (the bandits in the parable) intervention in our lives is actually part of God's plan to save us from our self-sought destruction (correct me here, but what I think is that Satan often carries out works of destruction, disaster, etc, but the fact that they are worldly and physical means that Satan's "works" are actually used by God to punish us on a temporal basis to save us from eternal punishment).

I'm getting confused myself; however, I hope this is useful thinking material to engage our intellects as we converse with God and try to understand Him better. Let us worship our LORD God in truth, and may the truth set us free!

Do you have time for God? [

I got this in an email. It's a long story actually, but I decided to just cut out the poem to share with all of you. It rly spoke to me, because sometimes I just feel so tired and I'll skip my daily quiet time. I sure need to make more time for God! :|

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book; It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time.
