AboutAn attempt to gather Singaporean book-lovers in one place where we could possibly exchange old books for others' old books, make recommendations and generally indulge in book-loving.
The Nine Community Commandments
1. Thou shalt not post a sale listing/request for a book (whether to buy or to exchange) for the same item(s) more than once in a day.
2. Thou shalt not repost a sale listing/request for a book (whether to buy or to exchange) for the same item(s) more than once every two months.
Yes, you heard that right, once every two months. It looks like it’s a really long time, but this community has lower traffic than most other communities, so your post actually sticks around for a much longer time than you think.
3. Thou shalt never speak in CAPS. Exceptions are given to headings.
4. Thou shalt not use a font size larger than 4 when posting headings, and 3 with normal text. These font sizes are the absolute maximum. It’s really off-putting to see giant words.
5. Thou shalt not post pictures larger than 640 x 480 in resolution, whether within or outside an LJ-cut. 640 x 480 is the absolute maximum.
6. Thou shalt not post more than 100 kb of pictures outside an LJ-cut, i.e., if you have more than 100 kb of pictures, you should put them under an LJ-cut.
7. Thou shalt ensure that pictures posted outside an LJ-cut DO NOT screw up the Friends Page (i.e. causes horizontal scrolling).
8. Thou shalt not flame anyone, engage in trolling, etc.
9. Thou shalt not set ridiculous prices for thy books.
This is defined as selling books for more than the common value, or just under brand bookstore price. This is very irritating for members because it comes off as an attempt to make a profit. Nobody wants to buy your tattered novel for $10.
The three-strikes-and-you’re-out rule
Violate the rules once: First warning.
Violate the rules twice: Second warning.
Violate the rules a third time: You will be banned from the community.

Those involved in book exchanges, please take care to secure the contact number (or any reliable form of contact) of the person you're exchanging your books with, especially if the exchange you're making is only a temporary one (where books are re-exchanged eventually so that the original owner ends up with their books in the end).
Please be responsible and try not to damage others' books while they're in your keep. That will be a good way to ensure that people continue to put their books up for exchange, in the faith that their books will return to them safely and soundly if they only agreed to a temporary book exchange in the first place.
You are responsible for your own safety, and that of your books’.
