Here are a few pictures from a recent photoshoot I did for my 2009 Spring Collection. Although it looks nice and warm in the photos, in reality, it was absolutely freezing cold and we were wrapping the models in blankets between shots.

Models: Hannah, Brianna and Sarah

I'm parting ways with my singer serger model 14sh654. I don't think I've ever used it and its a great machine collecting dust in my sewing room. And since I'm broke I thought some of you lovely ladies and gents might want to collect on my poverty! heh. So under the cut there are some pics. Its been used maybe once or twice. I've got the manual and all the parts including a little kit that came with it with a tiny screw driver and other various... tooly things. Its a great machine I just never had time to learn to use it. Please serious offers only (I've been stood up so to speak twice already) paypal or concealed cash at your own risk. I'm looking for $120 shipped.

Pics under the cut.. sorry they are just from a camera phone.. again.. I'm poor.. )

There is a cross stitch link that I'm looking for. It was one that you could import a photo (or down load a program), select how many colors you wanted to use and it would map out the pattern and give you a shopping list for what colors you needed and how much of each color. Do any of you know what site I'm taking about.

Yesterday I went to Archeon Midwinter Fair and a new record was set for conventions and fairs so far because with me included there were 4 steampunks (as you might have realised, steampunk isn't big in the Lower Countries) ^__^

It's been years since my college coursework and I'm slowly returning to dressmaking after having suffered severe brain damage a few years ago (it takes longer to recover than one would think). It seems I can remember techniques better if I review written details before making an attempt.

On that note, could someone please recommend simple yet thorough dressmaking/pattern drafting book(s)? - - Not really a beginner level, but perhaps no more complex than mid-level skills.

I've begun publishing issue #3 of my zine. Here's an excerpt from the first article:

"It’s An Inner-city Thing

The 80’s were witness to a wide variety of types and styles of fashion. While not always explicable, it seems that clothing was experimented with more at that time that at any other time in history. Even today, true innovation is very rarely seen. Often designers, musicians, actors and others in the public eye look back to resuscitate some trend or another of the past and appear to be progressive. In fact, one can Google “80’s fashion” and countless pages of sites will come up. Browsing through some of them, one can see how elements of several of these styles have resurfaced many times since the 80’s. But there is one thing I have yet to see on any of these 80’s fashion sites. Site after site something is missing...."

You know those bootleggers from Thailand that I always complain about? Etsy. com actually kicked them off for operating a mass production sweat shop.
How cool is that?

Some of you might be confused about who or what I mean when I say sweat shop bootleggers.
Here's one of their listing:
http://eburl.net/fakediy

This seller, with the bright green background, is selling 235 items and they end every hour. Really, how can one girl do that? If you look at the actual T-shirts they sell, you wont find those designs anywhere else. It's because they print them locally without permission from your favorite band. They are then assembled in a sweat shop environment. Come on, girls: their buy it now price is less than what it costs a legit seller to buy an unmodified shirt. Lastly, take a good look at it, it's ugly. It really is just a men's shirt with sleeves and a hood sewn onto it. That wont fit nice, you'll look like a troll. Please don't support these bootleggers.
Please support the REAL DIY gals on etsy. com.

thanx

So I have begun work on my zine. I'm in the planning stage. I need a little help with one of the articles in the form of another opinion. For each issue I plan to do a for/against article with myself presenting one side of an issue and another person presenting the opposing view. The theme of the first issue is "Super Cute" and the debate is "How old is too old for lolita/girly clothes?" I've decided to take the "never too old" view. I need someone to write the "dress your age" viewpoint.

Any volunteers?

I put up scans from recent articles/editorials featuring Girl Is Poison and Lux Dilemma. Check them out here.

Also I'm starting an online zine about indie fashion, crafts and handmade life. I plan to publish once a month. The first issue will be out soon. Bookmark this page!

Lastly, if you are not a member of Etsy, you should be. You're totally missing out on the best that small business has to offer as far as clothing, jewelry, toys, beauty supplies and even furniture! Click here to join.
