The Vintage Pattern Sew AlongEver wanted to dress like you just stepped out of an old movie? Have you got that perfect vintage pattern in the back of your stash, but it's either too small or just lacked the motivation to tackle it? This spring and summer join in the fun of creating the vintage outfit of your dreams with a group of others who are tackling similar projects. We'll share tips, insight, instructions, frustrations and finished project pictures! It's sure to be a lot of fun and no deadlines. :) The Vintage Spring/Summer Sew Along will begin April 1, 2005 and run through August 31, 2005.
This sew along is open to everyone of differing sewing abilities. We're here to encourage and assist each other, and beginners to advanced seamtresses (and seamsters!) are welcome. The only requirement is that you use a vintage garment or accessory pattern. For this group, we're defining 'vintage' as pre-1980. There is also no requirement as to the number of garments you have to complete during the sew along. You can do one or ten! We're just here to encourage sewing and using these unique pieces of fashion history.
Participants are encouraged to be creative with their pattern choice(s). Stick to the original design as closely or loosely as you want. Update it, meld different patterns together to create a whole new design, shorten a skirt, lengthen a collar; basically have fun and express your own fashion sensibility!

After you join the community, feel free to jump right in and begin posting with plans, questions or comments. Each week a group topic will be posted and everyone is welcome to weigh in on the discussion.
During the time the sew along is in progress, you are encouraged to post progress reports, questions, and photographs of your work. Once you've finished your sew along project, please share pictures with us!
Note: Those that wish to observe and participate in discussion, but don't want to sew a garment are welcome to join!
Rules for Joining
- Your pattern should be pre-1980
- Please do not post any pictures with nudity
- No sexual, racist, or vulgar posts will be allowed. Members that do so will be warned once, and banned on a repeat offense.
- Please stay on the topic of sewing; there are other places to discuss politics and religion
- No posting of items for sale by you, spam, or advertisements to non-sewing communities! Spam will be deleted, and repeat offenders banned.
