serenity_santa is a Secret Santa community for the exchange of creative works based on Joss Whedon's TV series Firefly and film Serenity. The format of this community has been ripped off copied with love and permission from our sister community, btvs_santa.
Here's how it is. Every person who posts a wish list during what's left of the month of November will be assigned the name of another community member for whom they will make a gift or gifts. Any type of creation is welcome, from fic (any pairing, het, slash, gen, whatever), to icons and other graphics, to vids--or anything else you can come up with. The only limit is your creativity.
If you would like to participate, join the community and post a wish list any time until December 5th, 2009. Your wish list should be in a new post to the community.
Please use the following format for your wish list posts:
They won't take Christmas away. The community will run on the following timeline.
What's expected? Your final gift(s) should be substantial (three or four icons would probably be disappointing unless they were incredibly fabulous icons), but need not be enormous. Virtual gifts only--you should not be spending money on these gifts but should be exercising your creativity.
**Spoiler Policy As of December 1, 2005 Serenity spoilers will be permitted in this community without an LJ-cut.

- What I want. Be as specific or general as you like, but please include requests in multiple media (fic, graphics, vids, etc.) to ensure that your Santa can work in his or her preferred form.
- What I can do. What type of thing do you prefer to create? Help us give you an assignment you'll be comfortable with.
- What I absolutely can't do. If there's a character, pairing, or rating you can't write, or if you think you'll only be able to write fic or only make graphics, etc., say so here.
- Are you willing to provide a backup contribution? Yes or No. We may ask for backup contributors in the event that some Santas can't fulfill their obligations. This will most likely occur in the first week of January. If you are unable or uninterested in being a backup contributor, it's perfectly okay to say no.

- Post your wish list any time from 25th November
- Signups close December 5th.
- Assignments will be sent out by e-mail by December 8th.
- (optional) From December 8th to December 30th you may wish to send some small teaser gifts to your recipient. If you do create teaser gifts to post in advance of the final posting period, stay anonymous! Email teaser gifts, along with any note you may wish to pass along to your recipient, to serenity.santa at gmail.com so that we can post them anonymously on your behalf.
- Because I've started late and because Christmas is a busy time this year your final gift(s) may be posted to the community any time between December 30th and January 30th. You will reveal your identity at this time.
- If you won't be online during Christmas/January, you should also email your final gift to us before you go away, so that we can post it for you at the proper time.
- After January 30, we may give a few days' leeway for late contributions, but we will solicit backup contributions after that so that nobody goes without a gift. Please do your best to complete your gifts on time, or let us know as soon as possible if you believe you'll be unable to do so.
