About

sentai_ai is a community based on the relationships (canon and non-canon) between various characters on a myriad of tokusatsu and sentai shows. Diverse relationships are encouraged and as a whole the community tries to encourage as many possible gender pairings as possible from boy x boy right through boy x girl and girl x girl. Expanded continuity is most certainly on the agenda as well as pairings that cover numerous series - even sentai x Power Rangers pairings.

Please include the title of your fiction if the entry's header. Be mindful of others and post stories behind lj-cuts with all the necessary disclaimers such as in the following example:

You're more than welcome to add any additional information that you feel may be relevant to the story but at the very least we expect to see these indicators, or some variant thereof, visible at the head of your post.

Further guidance is as follows:

第一: Whilst we don't wish to discourage anyone from entering themed challenges in other communities and crossposting their entries here, we kindly request that, if you know that your stories are going to be under 1000 words each then please don't post them one by one but rather compile a 'digest' post upon the completion of the challenge (such as can be viewed by <a href="http://community.livejournal.com/sentai_ai/11932.html">this</a> wonderful example). You can link to the stories in the community you posted them in, in your own personal LJ or you can hide them all under a collection of LJ-cuts, we don't mind but we would like to see the front page looking a bit neater in future.

第二: Sometimes you need to write drabbles. No one here is going to contest that but, whilst we're not keen to impose a word limit on all stories posted, we would prefer to see 1000+ word stories less often than multitudes of drabbles. You're not bound by this regulation but we want you to be aware of it none the less. Fanfiction is a unique genre in that it already presupposes a knowledge of the background and characters, something that saves us all a lot of time describing what colour jacket each character wears but, if left unwatched, is an impulse that can also lead to general laziness and poor storytelling. Before you click the 'post entry' button ask yourself if you've truly completed your story or if this is just a stepping stone to the next character sketch. If all you're interested in is writing character sketches then there's certainly nothing wrong with that (one of the greatest communions of fandom results from reading a well-scripted piece of fiction that exhibits clearly the author's understanding of the character and the material they come from) but, if you intended it to be something more than that, then take time to make sure all those bothersome little traditions no one really likes to worry about when actually writing (such as beginning, middle, end and actual progression and conflict resolution) are all present and accounted for.

第三: <lj user=sentai_ai> is sadly not the home for original character pairings. We love originality as much as they next community but one of the strong points about the stories presented here are that they deal with the relationships presented into the original source material. We'll let you off if you feel the <strike>insane urge</strike> desire to pair up characters of different shows and have to build some bridges in order to realise that beautiful dream of <strike>Big One/MagiRed love</strike> cross-series interaction but if you've got the time to be constructing original characters then <lj user=sentai_ai> believes in you enough to feel that you should be placing those original characters in original stories.

第四: You don't have to up the rating of your fiction simply because it presupposes a relationship between two people of the same sex and maybe even features *gasp!* an innocent kiss. We're all grown ups here and, well, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. To anyone under the legal age to be reading this material: <strike>WARNING: PEOPLE HAVE SEX</strike> why are you ignoring the disclaimers?

第五: Have fun. This is *our* fandom. Whilst we don't want to hold your hands, we do very much want to make you a cup of tea and talk about your ideas. Enjoy yourself.

Not everything in the community is viewable to the public so if you would like to view all entries, you'll have to join the community.

Writers: Please make sure that any fiction requiring a rating of above 18/NC-17 is posted as a Friends Only post.
