ON HIATUS!
The community is on temporary hiatus. Stamped members may continue to post, but we're not accepting any new members until the hiatus is over. Please do not submit an application until this notice is removed.

RULES:
1. do not comment on any applications or entries unless you have been accepted.
2. in order to apply, you must choose a member from the member list to challenge. we allow 50 spots (not including moderators), and if there is an open spot you do not have to challenge. also, keep in mind that the member list is not updated the second someone submits an application, so be sure to check the most recent entries in the community to make sure the person you choose to challenge isn't already being challenged by someone else. if the person you decide to challenge loses, they are removed from the community and you get their spot, including their member benefits (described below).
3. if you lose your challenge upon application, you can reapply later with a new challenge and new pictures.
4. do not promote any other community unless you've asked permition from a moderator. all requests to promote from non-members will be denied.
5. make sure to put your status (new/stamped/moderator) in your subject line when making any entry. if you are applying you also must have the username of the person you are challenging in your subject line.
6. any derogatory comments made reguarding race, sexual orientation, or anything that could obviously be considered offensive material will not be tollerated.
7. all photos must be behind a livejournal cut. if you don't know how to make a lj-cut please refer to the FAQ to learn how.
8. remember when applying you are subjecting yourself to honest criticism based on your physical appearance. you may not always hear what you'd like to hear.

APPLICATION:
1. name, age, & location.
2. the member you are challenging.
3. a sign picture with your lj username hand written on it. the members of the community decide whether it's authentic or not, so please make it clear. and have your whole face in the picture. don't bother applying without one.
4. a minimum of 7 clear pictures of you. if you have a preference as to what pictures are used in the member list, label them in the application. the mods will have final say in what goes in, but as long as you don't choose body shots, pictures we can't see your face in, or blurry/bad quality shots, we'll use them.

PAIR CHALLENGES:
each member is randomly paired with another member to make 26 pairs (includes 2 mods). each week will be considered a round. in round 1 all of the pairs compete in a challenge. during that week they will have to campaign with picture posts and somehow sway votes their way. at the end of the week a poll is posted, and everyone will vote for the pair they think should move on to the next round. the 2nd consists of 14 pairs, and the same routine is repeated that week, leaving us with 8 pairs. and then 3rd round will be 4 pairs in a challenge, and then finally it will come down to 2 pairs who will compete for the win. note; in rounds 2 and 3 there will be a wildcard challenge. because of the even numbers, the pair who was the closest to winning their challenge (but didn't win) from the 1st round will move onto the 2nd round with the winners and the same for round 2. however, those are the only two rounds that will have wildcards.


MEMBER BENEFITS:
1. every week we have a picture theme. the members are not required, but may choose to participate in the theme by posting pictures relating to it. at the end of the week the best theme post is voted on by members and the winner of that poll is exempt from challenges for two weeks. this means that while they will still be participating in the pair challenges, they can not be challenged by someone who is applying to be a member.
2. the winners of round 3 of the pair challenges votes on applications will count as 4.
3. the winner of the final round of the pair challenges votes on applications will count as 5.
