Music Appreciation Night with TalisDro Molinari
 We had so much fun with Josh from the Vernian Process, that we decided to do it again! Music Appreciation will take place the first and third Sunday of the month at the New Champagne Rooms in Babbage Square at 8pm SLT. This week we have a fantastic DJ and music aficionado. TalisDro Molinari will be playing his views of steampunk music... which, knowing him, will likely take a dark and moody bend. And as always, the delightful Miss Gabrielle Riel will be broadcasting Music Appreciation night over Radio Riel Steampunk for your listening pleasure. Come on down, pull up a cushion or put on your dancing shoes and let's share and enjoy some fantastic music as we wind up a busy weekend. Age Verify = LL's ass covering exersize
Does anyone else think *Age Verification* is like a pointless ass covering exersise ? [In the style of Gambling on SL = OH NOES, or *Broadly offensive*] I'm not a prude, but I REALLY hoped Age Verification would cut back on the obviously underage users and illiterate cruiser types just on SL *For the Sex*, [As SLs really gone kinda sex-centric in the past year or 2 IMO] it seems like HARDLY ANY CLUBS have bothered verifying [Mature instead of Adult] the general vibe if its a private sim and not mainland = Anything goes, ignore the verify rules etc This past week, I've seen less than week old human noobs wandering around with full [Not painted on boxers] Skins and the usual god awful Free Cocks, no payment info on file and say they're not Age verified [Usually] when asked, then swiftly fly to the next nearest cruising spot on the map, not a care in the world... Now, I've been full paid account for over 3 years now, Age verified myself [although I was scared it might not let me as I'm English not American]and some of my friends had to mail in photocopys of there driving licences and stuff...all FOR WHAT ? Celebrate the Invention of the Bikini! 7-9pm
Yes, that's right. The Bikini was invented as "The World's Smallest Swimsuit" in the '40s, according to wiki. The bikini, which shocked when it appeared on French beaches in 1947, was a Greco-Roman invention.[1] The modern bikini was invented by French engineer Louis Réard in 1946. He named it after Bikini Atoll in the Pacific, the site of the Operation Crossroads nuclear weapon test on July 1, 1946. The reasoning was that the burst of excitement created by it would be like a nuclear device. ]Jacques Heim called his bikini precursor the Atome, named for its size, and Louis Réard claimed to have "split the Atome" to make it smaller.Dark Bliss is going to celebrate the Bikini tonight from 7-9pm with an awesome beach party. Dress in your best bikini (yes, even the guys, if you want), and head on out to the surf for a rockin' good time. There's 300L on the board at stake, and I'll be spinning all the rockin' summer tunes including some great hair metal, 80s rock, surfin' songs, and more! July 4th
Yea verily, it did come to pass that July 4th arrived and a tired and overworked sim owner forgot to work on the fancy post for here last night... So, with a heaping helping of zen to guide me. The beautiful island of Dover will be having two DJ to entertain folks today. Starting at 3pm. SL time, we have Geerkil Zisky playing all sorts of good tunes for your pleasure, at Castle Dark Haven. If your bored or unable to attend some local event come online and join us at Club Twisted Tails - you don't have to be a fur or neeko or were to enjoy yourself here. Later in the evening Castle Dark Haven's regular DJ will be featuring a varied set. Jason loves good head banging metal and will be rocking the castle for two hours tonight. Aussies and Censorship
Over the last few days I've been following the news coming out of the land of OZ concerning the possible ban of on-line games like WOW and SL. It was fist reported here with a bit of hyperbole. Although it appears that the same story is being reported in other more traditional news sources. Digital Life, part of the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, reported that the programs may not be banned, but filtered in such a way to block objectionable content. Now it's being reported in one of the better blogs about SL that the rumors of SL's demise down Under may be much ado about nothing. Here is a link to one such story. And now the Gods over at Linden Labs are stating that the Aussie's have no plans to ban SL at all. Read about that here. Why is this important? Because to quote someone from another forum I belong to: Nebettawy wrote: Banning WOW and SL is only the thin end of the wedge with internet censorship... does anyone really believe it will stop there?
Comparing Australia to China in this regard may not, in a few years, be entirely a joke...
Governments don't like the internet, as it is a source of information, and communication that they cannot control. And so they seek ways to censor it. And at first this censorship will take the part of "reasonable" controls on "harmful" games. And then, no doubt,it will be a ban on "misleading" news sites. And so on...
Which is why I'm passing the links and such on to the various other sites I belong to. I am half reminded of a famous saying...something along the lines of "First they took the communists, but I wasn't a communist so I didn't do anything; then they took the socialists, but I wasn't a socialist so I didn't do anything; then they took the jews, but I wasn't a jew so I didn't do anything; then they took the gypsies ... the gays ... the elderly .... Then they came for me, and there was no one left to protest." Although the Aussie Govt does not seem interested in doing something now, they maybe in the future.
