autumn feel
hey seattle.

a few of us (who moved here from michigan within the past two years) are desperately looking for some "fall" fun... i'm thinking a good backroad drive that is very treelined... that leads to a cider mill, apple orchard and/or hay rides... corn mazes would be a big plus.

i tried to look around online, but i am not quite sure how to search for it... and i dont know the outside of seattle that well... this would be something to do this weekend... so if anyone has any recommendations to get my autumn into full gear... i'd really appreciate it.

Marysville and Arlington have ton of corn mazes during the fall. Check out Dues Berry Farm in Marysville.

Theres a good corn maze at http://www.thefarm1.com/. They actually have two. One is the state of wa and the other is a boeing 787 both like 10 acres. They also do a "Field of Screams" in October.

As for cider, there's a place on Redmond-Woodinville road that has awesome cider, It's a called Minea Farm I think but it doesn't have a website. I go there all the time in the autumn to get it. OMG its so good.

I second this: If you're driving from Redmond to Woodinville, its just past 124th. And the cider is awesome!! They also sell fresh honey.

Fall City and Carnation have fall type stuff too.

On the way- stop at the cool dairy farm and buy some cheese to munch on. When you are done with the drive (saying Oooh and Aaah at the right places), wander around the Fairhaven neighborhood in Bellingham- I'd suggest lunch at the Colophon cafe and perusing each floor of Village books (hint: There is a bar on the top floor)!

You can also get a flyer about the walking tour of historic fairhaven, or the "haunted fairhaven" walking tour, with moderately spooky places to see.

We did the haunted corn maze at Maris Farms in Sumner last year. Boo! Definitely for adults and actually scary!

They have many things, though, including a daytime corn maze and pumpkin patch and alla that.

Gah! We went to Maris Farms last year, I'm not sure if I want to go back. Maybe it was because we went late in the season, along with everyone else, and did the haunted woods/corn maze around 9:30pm, but it was so crowded and we just stood in a long line in the corn maze for about a half hour-45min. Talk about boring!

Also, I believe their cider was pricey and not too much of it. :(

But, maybe if you go during the day or earlier in the season it would be better.

We got tickets in advance so we skipped some of the line. I don't remember waiting overly long.

I don't mean waiting in line to get into the maze/woods, we were in the woods. They hold people back at the beginning so that the groups are spaced out, and we went along and had a good time until it was just like rush hour and everyone was stopped and we just stood there in the corn maze. So it was a little disappointing, but it could be that it was just that popular.

...in case you want more... is the annual harvest festival at Cloud Mountain Farms up near Bellingham. They've got live music, lots and lots of varieties of apples and pears and grapes for tasting and purchasing, a pumpkin field (pick your own!), etc. I go every year.

It's not open yet, but there's a few daytime corn mazes right off of the 277th st exit from the valley freeway. They have one shaped like a mummy, and one like a witch, and they also have a u-pick pumpkin patch. I went last year and it was pretty awesome (and the pumpkins are HUGE).

when we were children, the parents used to drive over to Leavenworth every Fall to see the changing colors and pick apples.
