Can anybody give me some suggestions for good mental health providers? I'm looking for recommendations for therapists in King County and all the info i have is the huge list of places that take my insurance. Redmond, Bellevue or the U District are the best areas for me, though anywhere in Seattle accessible by bus works as well.

Seagros, I am a niggardly bastard. Where can I see movies on the cheap?
The Crest - second run movies and art house for $3. We go all the time.
Admiral Twin - second run, I forget if it is $4 now or still only three.
Lowes Oak Tree 6 - on weekends and holidays, the movies starting between 10AM and Noon are only $5, including the first run bollocksbusters. They run this during some school breaks too.
Tell me, my Marshmallow Sweetattle Peeps, where else am I missing out on the discount cinema? Matinee shows for only $10 instead of $12 are not interesting.

I found one rather unhelpful post on this subject (http://community.livejournal.com/seatt le/5320678.html), so thought I'd ask again.
I'm looking to go back to school (since my theater degree isn't being particularly helpful), and am unsure of what to study, since this time I want to major in something that will lead to a job that I will like, and will pay real, non-stipend money.
To figure out which direction to go in, I'm looking for a career counselor who can give me detailed career placement tests, and could then help find schools that offer certification / licensing / training for that career.
I've found some online resources, but I'd prefer someone I could see in person, as it's far too easy for me to be distracted sitting at my home computer.
I live in Federal Way, so I'm looking for someone anywhere between Seattle and Tacoma.
Thanks in advance.

i'll be heading up from eugene, oregon to visit my mom and her boyfriend for the thanksgiving weekend. they're not so big on cooking, and i don't think i could make a thanksgiving feast all on my own for the 3 of us, so what are some restaurant suggestions for either a thanksgiving-themed lunch or dinner that would be under $30 per person?
no sizzlers or marie-callendar.. but something a little more classy that serves fresh food, especially fresh seasonal veggies?
i know someone else posted here, but it looked like a lot of the suggestions were way out of my price range.
also, we're originally from the east coast. when i moved to eugene for college, my mom moved near seattle... so i am not familiar with seattle restaurants at all.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for a new doctor in the Seattle area. I live in Greenwood so proximity would be nice, but is not the most important thing. I have Tri-Care/Tri-West (Military) insurance. I looked at their list of providers and there are a LOT in the area so I'm not sure who to pick. Either Family Practice or Internal Medicine is fine. If it helps, I'm a 22 year old female, and I have thyroid problems and depression, so a doc who is familiar with these two things would be great. Any tips/personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

i am thinking of a product for seattle called 'dryslick'
this product gets your chest warm. so then you have to pour water over your chest and then steam rises off your chest.
then you reach into a chest and grab some towels and dry off your chest, which has steam rising from it, and then put the towels back in the chest.
now the towels in the chest are wet but your chest is not and there is no more steam.
but you are still warm thinking of it.

I'd like to avoid the emergency room and its $$$$ fees (I've got insurance - but a high deductible).
Can anyone actually recommend a doc-in-the-box / walk-in-clinic in the area?

I'm teaching out of my house (converted living room - it's really just like a studio, albeit small). I've had a difficult time reaching students, and my classes are ... either unattended, or well under-attended. My prices are relatively competitive (especially since no class is larger than 6 people), and I've got a gaggle of evening times and early morning times. But still... not a lot of students.
Where do you find your yoga classes? What draws you in or turns you away? Any suggestions on getting the word out would be greatly appreciated!
(What have I tried? Website, listings on Google & Yelp & YogaFinder, with a couple of reviews on them. Flyers at the local stores. New student special for class passes. Free first class. Local newspaper advertising (eastside) is shockingly expensive, and I don't know that it's that well read...)

From what I can tell, coffee drinks are generally on the menu of most places but I wonder if there is a place that specializes in them.
I live in Fremont but don't mind going to Capitol Hill or similar. It doesn't have to be a bar, for example a karaoke place or a restaurant is fine. Thanks for any feedback!

petsMy St. Bernard has been recently diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia. Currently she is being managed with Rimadyl, weight control, and optimizing her glucosamine, chondroitin, and fish oil supplements. Given that she's not quite 3 years old I'm giving serious consideration to arthroscopic surgery on her legs. Since this will not be cheap I want someone with great ortho experience.
Anyone with experiences/recommendations of local dog surgeons. Serveral people I work with have dogs with a variety of dog joint issues and had their surgeries performed by Dr. Engen at Puget Sound Animal Hospital for Surgery. All have positive reviews of him. The general concensus seemed to be that he's pretty conservative in his decisions to perform surgery. My own vet refers his patients to Animal Surgery Clinic in Shoreline. I know of one person who has used their services and he came away with the feeling that they pushed surgeries irrespective of quality of life.
The costs I know are insane. It looks like my plans to look for a place to buy next year will be put on hold but I'm okay with that.

SEATTLE —
The King County sheriff's office says a man who had been reported as missing nearly two years ago has been found alive and well, living in another state.
Detectives determined last week Nicholas Francisco had changed his name.
The 28-year-old was supposedly heading home to bake cookies with his children when he dropped out of sight Feb. 13, 2008, after leaving work.
His car was found a few days later, abandoned in Federal Way. An extensive investigation by the sheriff's office turned up no sign of a crime.
His wife filed for divorce in May, citing "willful abandonment."

Admission is $5, $5 with a can of food for Northwest Harvest, Children 5 and under are free, blah blah spammity-blah...
If you have to choose just one geeky thing to do today (And there are a few Geeky things to do in the Greater Seattle Area today), I strongly suggest THIS EVENT over any of the others. Why?
CHEAP! $5 to get in! Dealers motivated to unload some product so they don't have to lug it back home in the rain!
INTIMATE! When else are you going to have a chance to meet WOLVERINE'S DADDY at a convention with notoriously low attendance? As a dealer at these shows over the past few years, I don't think I've ever seen more than 200 people come through the doors over the course of the entire day. It's more like a local Farmer's Market r Swap Meet than a comic book convention!
Hope to see you there!

Does anyone know what the name of that sushi place is that's on Broadway North of John on the West side of the street?
I think it starts with an A, but I'm not sure.
Thanks a ton

Disposal of a... garbage disposal.

Are there any special trash rules related to getting rid of a dead garbage disposal? I've been looking all over the Seattle Public Utilities site (here, if you're in need too), but it seems to fall into a grey area. It's not a washer or dryer, but it's not a toaster either. I can't tell if it could be recycled or not.
I'm planning on calling Monday, but I'd like to get this stinky, drippy, dead appliance out of my kitchen as soon as I can. I'm hoping someone out there has dealt with this very situation and has a quick answer.
Thanks!

Average local yelp restaurant review:
So my sisters boyfriend was in town and we decided to go out and have a good time because he is super awesome and she loves him so much. We went all around Seattle and saw the sights, and we splashed in the fountain because she had totally never done that before but we totally did today and it was fun. Soon we got hungry and we went to this local restaurant known for its great food apparently. We had to wait in LINE because the bitchy hostess said something about reservations and a weekend. After we finally got seated after FOREVER because all these people who had called ahead kept showing up, I was TOTALLY BUMMED that they didn't have anything that was vegan, gluten free, fat free, or bike friendly. What kind of place is this? I mean, everyone said it was totally awesome, but when we got there all they had was this fancy menu stuff that I couldn't read, and I totally don't even know what bechemel is anyway. IDK it just seemed not as great as everyone said it was. Two stars.

Ethnic and specialty grocers

I'm looking for recommendations for the best (be it by price or by selection or by your own arbitrary criterion) ethnic and specialty grocers. I am specifically seeking:
-mexican/south american (bonus for anywhere that makes fresh corn tortillas)
-persian (specifically seeking sumac and pomegranate syrup here)
-indian
-kosher (somewhere with a decent selection of israeli imports would be nice, bonus points for a good selection of kosher/israeli wines)
-cheesemonger (preference for somewhere that will cut-to-order by weight, rather than having pre-cut and cello-wrapped cheese)
While proximity to where I'm living is nice (which would be South Everett), I'm willing to make a trip for good quality and well priced foodstuffs.

Dear Greenwood Arsonist,
We get it already. You like to set stuff on fire and watch it burn. Spiffy. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
How about this: instead of setting places where people are trying to conduct business on fire, if you're going to torch something else, how about the old McDonalds on Greenwood Ave. which has been sitting vacant for the last couple years? You could burn it down and do the community a favor by ridding us of the eyesore. Besides, I bet there's all sorts of grease and flammable stuff in there which would catch pretty well.
You could even stay inside and watch to see first hand the sort of effect your fires have on buildings from that side. Sounds exciting, doesn't it. Why not give it a try? After all, I think you're the one person I could tell to DIAF and actually fucking mean it literally.
kthxbye
