| About: | "Whatever is opposed to life itself, such as any type of murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia, or wilful self-destruction, whatever violates the integrity of the human person, such as mutilation, physical and mental torture, undue psychological pressures; whatever insults human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, deportation, slavery, prostitution, the selling of women and children; as well as disgraceful working conditions, where people are treated as mere instruments of gain rather than as free and responsible persons; all these things and others like them are infamies indeed. They poison human society, and they do more harm to those who practise them than to those who suffer from the injury. Moreover, they are a supreme dishonour to the Creator."Many people (Christian and non-Christian) feel that the abortion debate has become the whole of the "pro-life" discourse, and that other important life issues are being ignored in the meantime. This community is intended as a space to talk about issues that threaten human dignity and the sanctity of life (NOT ONLY abortion) from a Christian perspective.
I'd like to keep abortion discussions to a minimum -- life issues are connected in many respects, so if the conversation ends up there, that's fine, but please refrain from posting topics directly on it. There are lots of prolife groups on LJ that are almost exclusively anti-abortion, and they would welcome your posts. Although this group is called "Seamless Garment", all positions and opinions are welcome, not only consistent-life. Likewise, everyone who's willing to discuss these issues within a Christian context is welcome. Liberal, conservative, libertarian, Catholic, Protestant, Anabaptist, Gnostic, non-Christian, pro- or anti- any of the issues listed above. It would be nice if members could post an intro when they join, since that can start some interesting discussions.
