IF MY LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE? Pretty shitty, probably. But let's play this game anyway. Post your own in the comments for extra chuckles.
Here's how it works: 1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc) 2. Put it on shuffle 3. Press play 4. For every question, type the song that's playing 5. When you go to a new question, press the next button 6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool...just type it in man!
OPENING CREDITS: "Tell Me Why" by The Beatles (A cheerful, upbeat song about a cheating, manipulative bitch and the sniveling, pathetic boyfriend who will aaaanything to get her back. Movie's off to a great start.)
WAKING UP: "SO SO (Overhead Champion remix)" by MISA (I want to see a movie that starts out with a Beatles song and goes straight into obnoxious Japanese techno. This would have to be accompanied by a gettin' ready! dance montage.)
FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL: "C'mon Charley" by Bacon (This is a disgustingly upbeat movie so far. This song would also have to be accompanied by a dance montage. The main character would coerce the entire school into doing the monkey with him. Her. This is supposed to be me, right? ... Fuck that.)
FALLING IN LOVE: "Finer Feelings" by Spoon (Aaaaand now we have a cynical indie-rock love song to top everything off. Beautiful. I see this movie so far about being about a revoltingly naive, optimistic high school boy who has that anime protagonist way about him in that he always manages to make friends with everyone [he isn't all that smart or good at anything, but he just has the biggest heart out there], so of course jolliness and dance montages follow him everywhere he goes. But then he meets this girl at his new school. And she's a bitch. ... Let's continue.)
FIGHT SONG: "Isekai" by Nanase Hikaru (Kid fights with his bitch girlfriend. And it's so tragic that we need a dissonant, apprehensive-sounding piano piece in the background. Good stuff.)
BREAKING UP: "If It's Fake" by EeL (BAAAAHAHAHAHA EEL. ... This isn't so much a breaking-up song as a "going on a self-destructive drinking bender after breaking up" song. OH MY GOD IT WOULD BE SO FANTASTIC. Let's make this movie, guys.)
PROM: "coinlockers baby" by miyavi (HAHAHAHAHA OH MY GODDDDD BRILLIANCE. Our main character (still drunk) crashes prom. He's piiissed. And, you know, I think this would be fantastic over a slow-motion prom montage. Just saying. Also, for those of you who haven't read the novel this song is based on, do it now. It's called Coin Locker Babies and it's by Ryu Murakami. It will ruin your life. I promise.)
GRADUATION: "Hurry Xmas (Silent Night version)" by L'Arc~en~Ciel (I was really depressed at first because this just sounds like really cheesy elevator music, but oh my god. It would be great. Our hero's classmates are all graduating. They have these really big forced smiles and all look like douchebags. Our hero, having been expelled from crashing prom drunk and pissing all over the decorations, is sitting in the audience and sulking. His life has been ruined. And it is hilarious.)
LIFE: "Nightmare" by Iwasaki Taku (And then, directly following, some really melodramatic music over a montage of this guy's life. Which is of course awful. There would be lots of outrageous sobbing. AND THEN FINALLY...)
MENTAL BREAKDOWN: "Namikaze Satellite" by Snowkel (... A Naruto song? Fuck. Oh, well. Guy's crazy. Maybe he jumps around in a padded room and does happy dances in his head to this song while he's in the nuthouse. I would.)
DRIVING: "All I Ever Wanted" by Basshunter (Guy... um... breaks out of the nuthouse! Because he realizes that he still loves his bitch girlfriend from high school and he'll never be able to be happy unless he sees her again. So he steals a car! And has an intense techno driving montage while he drives to her house to confront her.)
FLASHBACK: "Plastic Lips!" by The Aquabats (Instead of a flashback, we're going to make this a jump to how bitch girlfriend is living now. She has had egregious amount of plastic surgery and looks like one of those cunts on the E! channel. Let's say she's married and has a downtrodden husband and a tiny fluffy dog. Good stuff?)
GETTING BACK TOGETHER: "Seh Le Mad" by Hirasawa Susumu (But then our hero crashes his car into her expensive house, and at first she's pissed but then when they come face to face they're enveloped in a green mist and have an... Indian? Indonesian? Whatever language this is in-type dance montage together. BECAUSE THEIR LOVE IS SO PURE.)
WEDDING: "EXIT" by Kirito (As in... you know.. exiting from their shitty lives and, um, beginning to live together. And regain the happiness they once had. Right? Right. An introspective-sounding j-pop/rock song like this one works well enough.)
LOSING VIRGINITY: "Something" by Jim Sturgess. The Beatles theme returns. And this is a pretty good doin' it together for the first time song, I suppose. Let's run with it.)
BIRTH OF CHILD: "Paces" by GRAPEVINE (Pretty sweet hippie-style j-alt. rock song. Our hero and his bitch wife are content, they have a kid, etc. Hooray!)
FINAL BATTLE: "Bolero" by Tohoshinki (BUT OH GOD OUR PROTAGONIST'S OLD BUDDIES FROM HIS GANG [let's say he was in a gang] COME ALONG AND SHOOT HIM! IN THE BACK! And he falls to the ground in slow motion as he bitch wife screams and cries and carries on. Also in slow motion.)
DEATH SCENE: "Ghosts I 01" by Nine Inch Nails (So his bitch wife's cradling his head as he says his last goodbyes to her and their kid [who is in a stroller, drooling], and she's all like "OH NO YOU CAN MAKE IT" but yeah, no, he daid. And so the camera zooms out in slow motion on his dead body as this creepy, dissonant bullshit plays in the background. ... Also it's raining.)
FUNERAL SCENE: "Arashi ga Oka" by Onitsuka Chihiro (So then it's his funeral, and there are flashbacks of his life and what a great guy he was when he wasn't brawling drunkenly, etc. Pretty solid j-pop/rock song for the job.)
END CREDITS: "Hello Goodbye" by Aiba Masaki (And obviously the end credits are going to consist of an upbeat j-pop song from that guy in Arashi that can't sing all that well. WHAT A GREAT FILM.)
No one steal my great ideas, now. But seriously, go ahead and do this and post it in the comments. This was a lot of fun.

So I'm still at school. Isn't that funny? I think it's hilarious. ... Here's some music:
BONNIE PINK -- ONE BONNIE PINK HAS A NEW ALBUM OUT HOORAYYYY. I love this woman. She does the j-pop thing, but with her very own uncutesy, often bluesy take on it. Her songs are pretty quality, anyway--a great example of the fact that pop music isn't definitively total crap. Sample tracks: Won't Let You Go, Joy, One Last Time
D'espairs Ray -- REDEEMER D'espairs Ray is a Japanese visual kei/goth/screamo-type band that I totally adore despite the fact that I don't usually subscribe to any of those three types of music. They're just so polished and good that it kind of transcends genre; imagine listening to a visual kei band that can not only play their instruments, but do it in such an intense, flawlessly layered, totally perfect way that it's completely overwhelming at times. ... They're good, anyway. Check them out. Sample tracks: Lizard, BRILLIANT, REDEEMER, HORIZON, MASQUERADE
Fergus Brown -- Burgers Frown This man would get instant points just for turning his album name into a pun, but he gets extra, extra points for writing super-cute indie songs. "Nerds In Love" speaks for itself, and "Last Winter" sounds like a TV On The Radio song. The third song may or may not be about stealing some guy named John's pants. And girlfriend. Done. Sample tracks: Nerds In Love, Last Winter, John, She Was Never Only Dancing
Fujifabric -- CHRONICLE Fujifabric is one of those Japanese alt. rock bands I have a total boner for, I guess. I don't know all that much about them, to be honest, but this album came out recently and I snapped it up and I have been enjoying it. They write cute alt. rock songs with just the right amount of synth, so... you know... it makes me happy. Even if that little dog on the album cover creeps me out a little. Sample tracks: Baumukuuhen, April, Stockholm
We Were Promised Jetpacks -- These Four Walls "We Were Promised Jetpacks" is, first of all, a pretty bitchin' band name. Secondly, the vocalist has a thick Scottish brogue. It's immensely entertaining. They play pretty typical indie rock, so his voice is about the most innovative thing they have going for them (think a less produced-sounding Snow Patrol), but that honestly doesn't matter all that much to me; they write good songs, from what I've heard, and they're fun to listen to, so... you know. You can't really go wrong with that accent. Sample tracks: It's Thunder And It's Lightning, Roll Up Your Sleeves, Conductor
HOORAY. Now I am tired. SLEEP AHOY!

[23 May 2009|12:58am] |
My library has very few love songs in English. I have some excellent Japanese ones, but sometimes it's not the same.
So, my request is this: English love songs. Possibly in the vein of Beautiful Love by The Afters. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XS3y0Gy0UU) But anything will be great, as I am so sadly lacking. ;.;
>> I will try to find something interesting and not previously uploaded to upload.

Oh it has been a while since I requested anything from here. Oh but let's see if you have it... Does anyone have S.O.S., Umbrella, and Distrubia all by Rihanna. (yeah I know not a Asian request but there you go) If you have the album they are from that would be great. As a bribe I have either The Beatles "Revovler" or Ayumi Hamasaki's "A Song for XX". Thanks in advance!

I have a few obscure requests, here.
First, does anyone have Shiny Toy Guns - Major Tom (Coming Home)? It's the cover they did for the Lincoln car commercial (one of the artists. There is another one by Chan Marshall, or something). Got it. :)
3oh!3 - Electroshokk ^ Does anybody have a rip of this video and the Don't Trust Me vid? I can't find them anywherez.
And....
MOTHER'S DAY
I'm getting a headstart. I'm looking for songs (any genre, as long as they sound good and fit the theme lol) that convey the job of mother, daughter, and the relationship they share. Such as in the song In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride.
Anyways, things like that.
I know, odd requests. I uploaded all of my albums and whatnot in an earlier post and I'll be adding more and reposting it fairly soon. :)
Thanks!

This is another one of those "Karen, how the hell did you find this?" moments.
I'll never tell.
Anyway, for your bafflement, here is Jesus Christ Superstar in Japanese. And just in time for Holy Week, too!
I recommend listening to "Trial Before Pilate" first. Within the first few seconds I literally started laughing so hard I practically fell off my bed.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/1uhr32
WARNING: It is kind of horrendous. And probably a sin against everything.
Oh, and Judas(u) sounds like he's being strangled throughout the whole thing. Which is kind of appropriate when you think about it. Pffffahahahaha...
And Pilate is inexplicably operatic.
