Welcome to Screen Beauties, LJ's first classic ladies stamping community! You're probably wondering, "What the heck is this community?" Well, wonder no more. This is a community in which classic movie fans can actually find out which classic starlet they most resemble!

The rules are simple. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ ALL OF THE RULES THOROUGHLY BEFORE POSTING!!!!

A. Join the community! You don't have to have your stamp yet in order to vote for others as long as you are a member of Screen Beauties. Since you are SUPPOSED to be 13 to join LiveJournal, we ask that you be 13 if you join this community. We don't want anyone to get into any kind of trouble with LJ.

B. Please fill out the brief survey (which is provided for you below). This is simply a way for us to know a little more about one another, our likes and dislikes, our favorites and not-so-favorites, our goals and our dreams. At the end of the survey post (or provide links to) at least three clear photos of yourself. (By clear, we mean we cannot figure out who you look like if only part of your face is in the picture or if you have on sunglasses. It may look pretty and artsy, but we want to see THE REAL YOU! :)) Make sure both the survey and the photos are under an lj-cut, please. This is NOT - we repeat NOT - a ratings community. This is NOT a place for anyone to judge anyone's looks or any facet of their personality. It is simply a place where classic movie fans can discuss their interests and find out which classic star you most resemble. (Don't act like you've never wanted to know, haha!) The subject line of your survey post should read "I want a studio contract!" (This is just so we know you've taken time to read over all of this jazz.)

C. Please, no dirty pictures. We are not here to promote pornography, so we ask that you be fully-clothed in your photos.

D. While we realize that all 42 of these classic actresses we currently have stickers for are Caucasian, we also realize that all LJ users are not. Just because you are not caucasian doesn't mean you bear no resemblance to any of these beautiful ladies! Please do not let this discourage you from being a part of the group.

E. We kindly ask that you do not tell us who your favorite actress is in your survey. This could lead to skewed results. For example, if Sally says that her favorite actress is Grace Kelly, many of us would feel obligated to say that Sally looks like Grace. After you have received your sticker, however, you are more than welcome to blab incessantly about your favorite(s)!

E. There is a three-day grace period for people to vote (although it will sometimes take longer than that as both of the moderators work/go to school full-time). At some point after the three days, you will get a nifty "sticker" to put in your LJ userinfo, in an LJ entry, on your webpage... wherever you like! We simply ask that you kindly save the image to your own server instead of hotlinking. Hotlinking is just silly. If you need a server to host your images, free image hosts are available through such excellent sites as www.photobucket.com, www.imagecabin.com, www.imageshack.com, and many more.

Voting and Posting

A. You will choose one star (two only if you must) from the list on this page. We ask that you base your opinions mainly on physical characteristics. However, while we have picked a variety of ladies with varying physical characteristics, it is possible that a person will resemble no one. In that case, you can compare the person's personality to the personality of the starlet or even to their film stereotype.

B. Please bold or italicize or capitalize the name of the actress in your reply.

C. Please, please, PLEASE explain why you selected the actress you did! If you tell Maggie she looks like Greta Garbo but don't tell her why, what good is that?

D. If you CAN, please do not look at other people's comments before you make your decision.

E. When voting, please select an actress from the list/from the stickers we currently have. If you must, you can name someone who isn't listed, but please try to choose one who is. We will certainly be adding actresses and stickers as we see fit, but please make do with what we have.

F. Posts relating to classic movies (but not necessarily survey submittals) are welcome!

G. No profanity or rudeness or being generally nasty. We want everyone to get along and simply have a great time here!

H. If you would like to promote this community in other communities, then by all means - promote! However, you are not required to do this. In addition, if you wish to promote ANOTHER community, you are welcome to do so as long as it is related to classic movies or if it is a promotion for a community similar in structure and substance to this one. If you wish to promote your own community, please make sure you run it by one of the moderators first!

Who are the sillies who created this?

We are Ashley (kathyselden) and Cara (tessietura). We're a couple of classic movie fans like yourselves who thought this would be a neat idea for a group. There are many like it on LJ (and some of which we are a part), but none like this. Also, those communities refer to themselves as ratings communities, and while that's their perrogative, it is not ours. We don't think anyone (especially someone who only has a chance to begin to know you online through a small survey and a few photos) has the right to "rate" you on any level. This is just a fun idea for people who are into the classics.
