I ordered a three month scrapbooking kit subscription from Commit2Paper and that got me thinking seriously about doing my scrapbook for my fiance and me. I just can't wait til it gets here! YAY!! November will be our three year... and as of today, we have 9 months until we get married!

Tim & I went to an Astro's game on my 20th birthday. For the "Happy Birthday" I used stamps and then embossed them. I was happy with how this one turned out

This is from when Tim proposed to me- February 22, 2008. The small blue-ish photos are from the actual day from my cell phone and then the larger photos are from about two weeks later. The top blue square says "The proposal"- the lighting in the house isn't too great... The red blobs are the rose petals from the day Tim proposed- he actually plucked roses to get them! lol.

This last one is not finished... The triangles are going to be where I put my journaling. I have alot of journaling to do : P The center sticker says "Will you marry me?" and then the photo at the top is from two weeks after Tim proposed.. I thought it was so pretty- it's part of an Eastern Red Bud.
I'm not a big fan of these two but they're kinda growing on me... The whole gold tone of the pages aren't my style but I liked how the papers went together.

Here's a little detail...

Here's a close up of the Proposal Page. The people are basically how we were but we definitely were NOT that well dressed... lol.. I was in sweat pants and a t shirt because we were taking our dog for a walk. lol

Baby Calendar Scrapbook

I finished the scrapbook for my friend Becky who is due for her first baby in November.

All of the letters and die cuts were made with my Cricut. I used 4x6 mats and used corner punches so she can just slide the photos in. I bought some "calendar stickers" that she can use in the calendar squares if she wants (things like first tooth, first xmas, etc).

The shower is tomorrow. I hope she likes it!

Tag Book

I just finished an accordian tag book as a (very late) birthday surprise for a friend, and I love it!!

I have individual photos of each of the pages, but this was really hard to photograph because of the depth and layers! Hopefully you can see the pages well enough with the two shots below:

I think she will really like it! If that was MY baby, I would love it! I can't wait to mail it off!

New Pages

I've been working on my scrapbook pages this week and having a good time. My style is fairly plain. This first group of photos is of my grandson, enjoying a traditional meal of Greek macaroni--only he is using the macaroni as a straw; lol. These flowers are punched. The letters are made with the Pazzles.

These two below are a set. The dragonflies and most of the flowers are stamps that have been colored with glazed or gel pens.

Here is another set below. More with my grandson, making silly faces. The swirls are stamps from Oriental Trading; they are painted with glazed pens. I found these autumn leaves stamps in the dollar bin at Target.

Does anyone know where I can get "foam glue dots"?
They have double sided adhesive and they mount things a little higher.
I would say that they're about 1-1.5mm wide.

The ones I've been using I ordered on Clearance off of www.archivalusa.com.
But I've looked all over their site and they've seemed to have disappeared for good!

I live in Western NY, and I can easily access JoAnn's, Wal*Mart, K-Mart, Target, and even AC Moore's if absolutely necessary (AC Moore's is a bit out of the way, but I do make frequent trips up to Pet's Mart and Barn's & Noble, which are in the same plaza).

I've just used up the last of them and thought nothing of it because I had to place another order off archivalusa.com (I'm a HUGE Pioneer products fan).

More from the october commit 2 paper kit. what a FUN kit. i absolutely loved the versatility of it and actually found that it worked wonderfully with photos from the early 80s...

again... the die cuts from the kit just screamed to be curled to add depth...

When i first opened up the October Commit 2 Paper kit, while i loved the colors, i was definitely overwhelmed. this was such a gorgeous kit, it seemed a shame to "waste" it on photos that didnt really fit the color schemes or feel "autumny."

i am thankful that i got to play with this kit while 2 girls from my Inspiration Squad were in town. it was wonderful that i was able to bounce some ideas off of them.

and while i dont think everything i did is my best work... i do not believe that they are my worst either.

Making Scrapbooks for Craft Fair

Hi . . . Long time lurker, but only posted here once before, probably more than a year ago. My workplace is having a holiday craft fair and, inspired by the swaps and gift projects I've seen here, I've decided to create scrapbooks with pre-made layouts to sell at the fair. I've been in a rut with my personal scrapbooks for awhile and thought having the freedom to create layouts that are completely different from what I've been working on might get me excited about my personal scrapbooking projects again. And since I've learned a ton about different techniques and have gotten tons of great ideas from seeing the work everyone here posts, I thought I'd post some of the results!

Layout #1:

It's not visible in these pics, but I've got foam mounting squares under some of the yellow circles to give some dimension to a couple of relatively simple layouts.

I'm really using these layouts as a chance to experiment with different things I've been wanting to try out. I usually prefer more simple layouts and designs so the photos don't get lost in a swirl of patterns and embellishments. And since I'm selling these, I've got to make sure the materials for each page don't cost more than I can sell the books for!

I never would have thought to include hidden journaling areas if I hadn't seen the idea here! The detail can't be seen in the thumbnail size pic, but I misted the inside of the pink paper with a fine gold shimmer to make the frame around the white paper "pop" just a little bit more.

The green rectangle in the second layout is an envelope with a notecard for more journaling and for small memorabilia. The flowers were matte fabric, so I misted them with some of the gold shimmer too. *Loved* the result!

The folks at my work who would be interested in buying these wouldn't be hardcore scrapbookers and probably just use regular photo albums most of the time. As a result, I'm trying to maximize the number of photos they can include (with minimal photo cropping/trimming on their part) if they use these to create holiday presents for family members, etc. The left-hand layout has a thin iridescent ribbon running horizontally across the middle of the page as an accent (can't really see it in a thumbnail). This right-hand layout has another envelope for holding ticket stubs, etc. with a small epoxy(?) sticker for decoration.

Actual Themed Album!

I usually do pages that are completely random, but for the first time, I've decided to commit myself to a vacation-themed album. I just came back from a beach get-away on a Florida island with my sweetie. Here are the FIVE pages I did tonight. Yes, FIVE. It's the most scrapbooking I've ever done in a 24-hour period. Guess I was really inspired!

I only printed a few pics from the trip so far, so you'll probably notice some repeats. :) Some of the paper is from commit2paper , and the rest is from my old stash.

Swap Groups

The colors swap is officially closed. Sorry this didn't come on Saturday - I was out enjoying nature (aka camping and trying not freeze!).

Here are the group assignments. Each person needs to make 7 identical double page layouts.

In case anyone needs a refresher, here are the specs.

Swap Specs
1. Each person will make 7 double page layouts.

2. Pages need to be 8in x 8in.

3. These will be double page layouts.

4. Both pages need to include quality cardstock (not solely patterned thin paper).

5. Include a minimum of 2 photos mats and 1 journaling square.

6. Include a minimum of 2 types of embellishments per page (ex: chipboard, ribbon, staples, eyelets/brad, paint, stitching, etc.).

7. Stick to your color theme, be creative, and have fun!!

8. You'll need to mail your double page layouts to your group leader, a self addressed envelope (big enough to hold 14 pages) and include stamps equal to the amount of postage it took to mail it off, plus 2 stamps. (If it took $4.80 to mail it off, you'd include $4.80 in stamps, plus two extra 42 cent stamps). Any unused postage not adhered to your envelope will be returned. No Metered Strips!

Pages are due to your group leader by November 15, 2008.

Hey everyone!
I noticed that there are a few lolitas among us, so I thought it might be useful to post here, if not, please let me know!

I've just started a community for lolita scrapbookers called (you guessed it) loli_scrappers! Please feel free to join or just have a look around, we only have two members at the moment and are in the need of aggressive expansion!

On another note - I bought the 6x6 papers and chipboard bits from the new Papermania line 'Sweet Nothings', and I can't wait to use them! Has anyone else had the chance to create with them yet? I'd love to see what you've done, I'll make a post when I myself have started : )

Journaling Rub-Ons for Sale/Trade

I bought a mixed bag of embellishments the other day, and there's a few things I can't use so I thought I'd offer them up here first before they get put on ebay.

I have 5 different journaling rub-ons from phrase cafe diary by EK Success. I tried to look them up to link to them, but they're not on the company website. Other sites had similar ones (not these exact wordings) for $1.79-$2.19 each.

These 5 all read like they're a mother talking to a child. They are titled: Inseperable, Handle with Care, Transitions, Milestones, I'll be Here Waiting.

They're all very nice - except I don't have kids so I can't use them.

I'll do $5 for the lot, shipping included - or a similar value trade.

After all the swap discussions below i was wondering if there were any scrapbookers out there from non United States countries and would you be interested in doing a swap, maybe with a longer timescale so that you weren't worried about not meeting the deadline because of postal issues? If so or if you just want to say where you are from but arent interested in a swap i would still be interested to find out where we all live....

new father?

i was wondering if anyone had ever tackled a baby book with more of a focus on the new father rather than the baby?

A good friend is due his first child any day now. I havent met his girlfriend and i just thought i could make him a book to record his thoughts throughout the first year of being a dad, something that he may or may not wish to share with his partner and his child when they are older.

What do you think of this idea? Do you think it is rude to have a focus on him being a new dad?

The babies mother has 3 other children already, how can i include them in the book too?

I have thought of the obvious calender style first year book and an abc of baby but what other ways could i tackle this, maybe an abc of fatherhood or anything else?

Ideas greatly appreciated as i cant seem to find mmuch in the way of examples from this angle.

RSS Challenge Page

Finished my scrapbook page for the ready_set_scrap challenge last night! Was up until 1:30, but I'm happy with the results, and I LOVE that pic of my stepdaughter and I! The large pink flowers are fabric between to pieces of chipboard, and they have a bit of a 3-dimensional look cause the fabric is ruffled a bit. The smaller flowers are also dimensional: the center is a rhinestone stacked on top of a small button.

If you guys haven't already checked it out, take a peek at the ready_set_scrap community! It's a great way to keep your creativity flowing (wonderful, unique ideas for the challenges!), and gets you scrapping again if you haven't in a while. And did I mention - prizes? :D

The Road Trip 2007 Pages 1-6

Echo "Resort" was probably the worst night ever on the trip. The journaling is going to be hilarious.

My sister's boyfriend got my mother flowers so I swiped the card when no one was looking.

Richard Simmons was at the local Walgreens for some unknown reason. It was especially funny because two of the cops in the picture busted my cousin at a party.

My cousin built this reputation of a genius when it comes to picking out cards. That was until he gave my (white) Grandpa a card that read, "Thank you for teachjing us the beauty of our blackness."
