Current mood: working

Are you really participating?
As most of you are aware, the best way to get through to the studios and networks is to do things they can't ignore -- which means calling them or sending mail. The best mail to send is that "greetings from Wonderfalls" postcard. If they get enough of those, plus a bunch of phone calls, they will take notice.

Please post here only if you have sent a Wonderfalls postcard/snail mail letter or called someone about the show, and tell us who you wrote to or called. We're trying to figure out how many people are actively participating in this campaign.

If you haven't picked up your phone or written anyone yet, do it now! If we want DVDs or another network pickup, we have to fight for it.

I wrote FOX, NBC, WB, and UPN and I called Fox's Gail Berman and I also was in contact with someone who told me they were in charge of Fox's DVD productions. I was transferred about 4 times before I reached him and I didn't catch his name as he spoke extremely fast. I told him about wanting Wonderfalls on DVD and he gave me the basic "ok i've made a note of this. We'll see what we can do. Thank you for your time"

i suggest having a GOAL.
like right now our main target for NETWORK CHANGE is The WB, target that and then UPN is the second...

for DVD change the target is 20th Century,

or something... that's enough of my suggestion

I emailed FX Network, WB
I called 20th Century
and on my list is snail mail...

Oh, geez, I wish I could remember all that I've done. I've sent postcards (with the Wonderfalls postcard graphic neatly taped on the front) to: Gail Berman, Mr. Newman and Ms. Walden of Twentieth Century Fox, Jordan Levin of the WB, Dawn Ostroff of UPN, and maybe Regency Enterprises. Phone calls: I called Gail Berman (before and after I found out it was cancelled), Twentieth Century FOX Television, and Regency Enterprises. I emailed FOX Broadcasting twice (once before and once after cancellation), the WB, and BRAVO TV. I faxed Mr. Newman and Ms. Walden of Twentieth Century and Jordan Levin of the WB (using two fax numbers, because I didn't know which was the appropriate one).

I've made at least all of the above contacts and maybe one or two more. I made a request of Andy Partridge's theme song at a Chicago rock station, though I don't know if they've played it yet. They're of a diverse ilk (including XTC songs), so there's a good chance they'll play it.

Honestly, doing all of this did not take a lot of my time. I put some serious thought into what I wanted to say. That probably took the most time.

Here's a sample of one of my missives (which I directed to the WB):
"Hello. I'm a [inserted age] woman who was disappointed and saddened by FOX TV's cancellation of the amazing program, Wonderfalls, This television program is a cut above the rest--it sparkles with life. It is superbly written and acted, and it just amazes me as to how deep of an affinity I developed for it right after I finished watching the pilot episode. Such a thing is rare for me. I'm one of the fans who was fortunate enough to see all 4 episodes (many viewers, unfortunately, missed the last aired episode because of FOX's sudden and underpromoted move of it to Thursday night, making such a 'moment of truth' poorly revealing in how many people are interested in and buzzing about the show.
"Wonderfalls is bursting with potential. Given the proper promotion and support of a network that cares about it, I genuinely and pragmatically believe it will gather momentum and take off like a rocket. It was building momentum through excited word of mouth right before FOX unceremoniously and prematurely pulled it. I've read many comments from fellow viewers that expressed the same sentiment: 'I was told to watch this show. I'll have to thank that person now.' I urge you take this show under consideration for a move to the WB. Its electic goofiness and generous style and substance appear to be very simpatico with your schedule of programs. There are many viewers who are chomping at the bit, hoping such a thing will happen. We've gotten a taste of its greatness. But then we had to helplessly watch as the rest of the meal got tossed into the garbage. Please, give life back to Wonderfalls by giving it back to the viewers. It is incredibly deserving. As are the viewers."

i've called the 800 number for gail berman's office and even had my 8-yr old niece call the number and do a really innocent "i really liked that show and i liked watching it with my aunt" message which was heartbreakingly lovely, and have emailed a number of addresses (most of them were from one personal template letter, copied and pasted with little personalized things so that it didn't seem like a copy and paste).

I've emailed foxstore.com, who said that although they currently have no plans to release the DVD, they would forward my email to the network, so that my opinion would be heard. I went on a bit of a rant (but it was a *nice,* non-offensive rant) about networks not listening to the opinions of their viewers -- hee!

I also emailed askfox@foxinc.com with a similar rant, but got no response.

And finally, I sent the postcard to Peter Staddon, Gary Newman and Dana Walden, and Regency Enterprises (to beg for the DVD) and to Gail Berman (a fairly harmless note with pissed-off undertones, basically calling her an evil bitch without actually using the words "evil bitch").

Hey I got an email from GLOBAL CANADA:
"Hi Patrice

Thank you for contacting us at Global TV, Buying the program "Wonderfalls"is not an option at this point as first it is not possible to buy a program that has been cancelled by the originating network and when a show has been cancelled it normally is no longer in production.

Regards

Will be prepping and sending hopefully 4 more tomorrow, to WB, UPN, Regency, and FOX Home Entertainment again, this time with my friend's name attached. She's too busy to do this stuff, but is a fan of the show. I've saturated as much as I can with my name.

Hi, my name is Kevin from VA. I started actively to try and save Wonderfalls on April 6th one day after I found out it had been canceled(I went online to find out how it was doing and got kicked in the gut. Later I decided I was kicked in the ass and started to do something about it.) I have done everything except the adopt the animal thing(I must have skipped by it.) Saving this show is important to me and I am tired of having the shows I like disappear(Firefly, John Doe, Dark Angel, American Gothic, and more). Just let me know what else I can do and I'll do it.

Trying what I can

Hi, I'm new

As soon as I receive the copies of the postcard my friend is printing out and sending me, their going out.

So far I'm trying what I can (I don't have internet at home, just Lib. time):

emails to Networks:
fox
wb
global (canada)
space (canada)
showcase (canada)

emails for media coverage:
ryan seacreast (shout out)
usa today (Article, shows we can't live without)
ellen degeneres show (asking to help cause, by simple saying 'save wonderfalls')
daily buzz (morning show)

petition sign:
two separate save 'wonderfalls'
two separate full season DVD release

post:
kitten board and left links (support from the gay community, in relation to the sister character)

(soon) snail mail postcards:
wb
global (canada)

Suggestions:

target the : buffy/angel fans; the gilmore fans; the whimsy loving fans (people who enjoyed 'Ally Mcbeal' ect...). People who like shows with quality writing/language lovers (a good use of a-turn-of phrase); people who like snarky writing. Even if they missed the airing of the 4eps., convince them that something is being denied. Do they want the chance to check it out (curious).

target the gay(lesbian) community. The fact is that there isn't very many positive, well-written lesbian characters on television. Sharon is an important recognition in the media for the community and opens the gate to other such characters. The writers/creators are gay themselves, so they care and understand.

Direct them to: www.afterellen.com

I've posted on one such board

I know it's a little out there, but BC fans can go on CityTVs'Speakers Corner and get media attention there

I think it's been mentioned, but see if any of the actors can be contacted to pitch in and speak out on air

My post to Ellen went:

I was wondering if you could just mention 'Save Wonderfalls'. It's a worthy campaign. I know you have internet savy employees and could tell you of the importance of this show; just check out: save wonderfalls on google. Thousands of people online are trying to save 'Wonderfalls'. It's a well written show. The second main character is Lesbian, and one of the few well written Lesbians. This is import to our community. I know that you don't want to tackle such issues because of the back-lash, but just saying 'Save Wonderfalls' is enough. You don't have to get into it. And it's a smart show. Like your sitcom, these shows open the gates to others being accepted. Please consider.
Love a Fan :D

And my post on the kitten:

Save 'Wonderfalls'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this deserves it's own thread, but I'll let the other Kittens be the judge of that. A wonderfully witty and charming show has been canceled after only 4 episode. It's written in the vein of 'Buffy' and 'Gilmore Girls'. The show is called 'Wonderfalls'

This show is important for many reasons. Why is it important to Kitten, cause one of the key characters 'Sharon' is a Lesbian and a well developed one, within the first few minutes she appeared

I also worry about the state of Television. We need to keep quality television within our grasp. We need to even the playing field, keep a balance to the scale. I'm not against reality shows, crime dramas, and sitcoms (I wouldn't want to rid the air of shows that so many enjoy)' I just don't think we need more of them. As Lesbians and Intelligent viewers, we need to support this show. Are Lesbians forever going to play the role of insane, suicidal, or as a joke. Bryan Fuller and Todd Holland are gay themselves and wish to portray a more positive, realistic picture of a Lesbian and still keep humor, wit, and whimsy. Even if you checked out the show and it didn't appeal to you; do you not still think it has a place for those that do, merely on the grounds of the positive portrayal of a Lesbian and that it opens the gate for other such characters.

If you go to : www.afterellen.com
you'll find a interesting and important article telling more about the show; why it's important; and 'Sharon' Our Lesbian girl

I'm leaving it up to you, each individual Kitten. I've seen the power Kittens got backing them.

Fox will not air the show, but what about another network? The very least we can do is encourage the studio to release the full season on DVD for those who wish to see it.

The DVD petition is here: www.petitiononline.com/goodtv/petition.html

Other places to go, to get it on another network: www.supporttrucalling.com/support-wonderfalls.html

I'm not so great with words, and probably should have taken more time to prepare something, but you all get the drift.

I've been trying what I can. If anyone else wants to copy and paste my post on another board, feel free. If you know of other such communities that you think would help support

I haven't yet figured out how livejournal works, I can't figure out how to create my own post yet, so I've been clicking the comment button. (not entirely computer savy)

Thanks
