Thank You?
So, I had an idea and I'm wondering if you folks over here would be interested in helping (mods, please feel free to tell me to go away if this is out of line :-D).

By now, we all know that SG1 is not coming back for an 11th season, like we had all hoped. And while there will be at least 2 DVD movies, it's still not quite the same. I had this sort of epiphany last week about how much I love this show. Like really love it. And I wondered what I could do to say Thank You to the cast and crew and all the other fans for 10 great years of adventures and for introducing me to a great new community of friends. At first I thought, "Maybe an ad in Variety?" But just a half page in black & white costs almost $5000. So, a friend suggested a local Vancouver paper. They can do a full page, black & white, Saturday and Sunday for $3625.86can. Now, that's still quite a bit of money and we don't even have to do a whole page.

What I'm wondering is, would folks here be willing to do another small fundraiser thing to try and get an ad in that paper? I'm thinking we should do it fairly soon as the second half of season 10 is about to start airing in the US and it should probably go in before that completes airing.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Yea? Nay?

Thanks for reading. :-)

IMPORTANT - Breaking Campaign News
Now that it's finaly become public, please can you look at the post at Gateworld HERE and the responce from the steerers over at the yahoo group and the campaign web site HERE. I don't know what the responce of the mods on here will be, but I think it's rather important that everyone see this, and as you're not all on the yahoo list then, this seemed the best way to go about it.

It is EXTREEMLY important to the future of the campaign, and though it will upset some people it does mean that there IS a future for SG-1, even beyond the two movies already anounced.

Amazon sales
Question regarding sales on Amazon...does buying from the 'New & Used' sellers count towards the DVDs Amazon sale count/rank?

Is it better, in terms of supporting the show, to buy less seasons at the full Amazon price, as opposed to buying more seasons at used prices? I don't have a terrible amount of money to spend on DVDs right now, but I'd like to do what I can.

I am so sick of good shows being cancelled.

Share and share alike...
So I'd just like to inform you all that Michael Shanks now has a Save Our Stargate bracelet courtesy of MOI and he really fell in love with it. Also they have been a big hit at the Burbank SG-1 Creation Con and a lot of people are wondering where do they get em. :)

So my monkey is less one collar but he didn't mind giving it up for Michael. *snerk*

Just thought you should know :) So [info]lyndynasty thank you again for these! *smooch*

Also sad news, he's pretty much confirmed there will be no Season 11 (because if there was, they'd get ready to start shooting for March) but there will be TWO movies and the last ep will NOT resolve anything. Doh!

Also if you didn't already know, it is pretty much ALL about the money. Sci-Fi has NO money in SG-1. They have money in SGA. SG-1 is too expensive to make (like 2 mil an ep) where SGA is 1 mil. So it's not a popularity issue. It all comes down to money. I've had this told to me by more than a few sources. Very sad news, but well that's politics unfornuately. The cons will continue, there's movies, possible other things, so um yeah at least the franchise will live on.

Oh and to end, Colin Cunningham, Cliff Simon, and Michael Shanks really are the NUTS! (meaning as they say in my Poker Room, they are serious Aces. Nut flush is totally what you wanna have because it's unbeatable, so when someone says that something is the NUTS, it means it's a REALLY good thing.)

But I just think it's cool that Michael loved the bracelet. Actually JR, Cliff, and Colin all thought they were kinda neat too :) So yep, total hit. I so love mine. And Danny loves his. Hee :)

Forgive my naiveté, but with the movies getting the green light, is it a given that it's all over? I only ask because people said there was hope as long as the sets weren't torn down and they're not done filming, etc. So is this it then?

Okay so yes I screwed up but everybody PLEASE remember that I had to fill 70+ orders accounting for 180 bracelets BY MYSELF. So just cut me some slack and I'll make sure I fix my f*ck ups.

In the future, I will NOT be coordinating anything else like this. And I will also be handing control of this group off in the near future to one of the other moderators since I apparently can't do ANYTHING RIGHT.

BRACELETS!!!
Okay just thought I would let everyone know that I was finally able to mail everybody their bracelets this AM.  I'm still figuring out how many bracelets we're sending to the cast/crew and I'm also waiting on something else special to come in before I send the bracelets to the production offices.

So, peeps in the US can start looking for their bracelets within the next week.  For our international members...I have no idea when you can start looking for your's.  All the international packages went out Air Mail so it shouldn't take them that long to get to you.

Just post a comment to this post if you'd like to say you recieved your bracelet(s).

Also, thanks for being so understanding about it taking so long for me to get the bracelets out and thanks to all those who've publically and privately sent me well wishes.  I'm doing better but my back is still in pretty bad shape and will be for some time yet.  But thanks for all the thoughts and virtual hugs.  :)

SG-1 DVD Films Get OK'd
From the scifi.com website:

SG-1
DVD Films Get OK'd

SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 will wrap up its 10-year run this spring, but that's not the end of the saga. Executive producer Brad Wright told TV Guide that MGM has granted a green light, and enough money, to produce two movies, most likely for DVD.

The first film will tie up most of the finale's loose threads. "It's the climax of the Ori storyline," Wright said, and will be written and directed by executive producer Robert Cooper. The second film, written by Wright, will involve time travel, and both projects should debut in the fall of 2007.

Though no deals are signed, SG-1's stars are said to be "very eager" to continue, Wright added. "They're not big-budget [films] by any definition, but for us it's pretty good," he said. "As we've proven over the years, just give us little more money and we can make pretty good television or DVDs."

Bracelet picture!!
Okay I really am working on getting bracelets ready to go out.  It's just taking me a little while.  So I thought I'd let everyone see what the bracelets look like.  All the bracelets have "Save Our Stargate" on one 'side' and "Keep The Iris Open" on the other.

Save Our Stargate/Keep The Iris Open bracelet!!

Bracelet News!!!
Well I just got an email from Reminderband.com and our order has shipped!!!  It's coming FedEx Ground and I've set it up so I get an email every time something happens with the package.  Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop.  I've contacted the production office (yeah I have my connection) and I've asked where we can send something to them but didn't tell them what exactly so I'll let you know when I find that out.

Also, can everyone who pitched it to cover the extra bracelets email me off comm at lyndasty@gmail.com.  I have something I wanna ask.

We might...and I stress MIGHT...have some extras to sell but I'll let everyone know about that once I get the bracelets and get everyone's orders filled and get the cast/crew/producers' bracelets divvied up so keep an eye out.

Now returning you to your regularly scheduled S.O.S activities!  :)

EDIT: THE BRACELETS SHOULD BE HERE THIS WEEK!!!!!! They're coming FedEx Air from Hong Kong and the estimated delivery date is WEDNESDAY October 11th!!!  YAY!!!!  I am insanely happy about this!!

MOD POST!!!!
PLEASE put spoilers under a cut.  I'm not going to ban spoilers but PLEASE put them underneath a cut.  I will not delete these posts...yet...but if it becomes a problem, I will start restricting posting access and locking down the comm.  Also, I will not be putting restrictions on any "save Stargate" advertisements unless it gets out of hand as well.  This also goes for any Atlantis related information.  But PLEASE keep posts on the topic of saving SG1.

So I'm student teaching and I have no money and even less time, but I went out like a loyal Gater tonight to fetch Season 9, and I realized that other local fans are going to have the same problem I did. All four - Best Buy, Target, FYE and Saturday Matinee - did not have Season 9. Best Buy had space on the shelves and a sign for it, but they won't have them til Thursday!

Needless to say I came home and ordered it off Amazon. Anyone else get hit by the same brick wall today?

New look MGM website...
I hope it's ok to post this here... :)

But it has me pretty excited... *happy dance*

www.stargatesg1.com

You can now register and have your own homepage on it... there's a whole community on there... vidders are going to love it...

This looks like a positive thing to me guys; if MGM are re-hauling the website then maybe there's hope for a season 11... or at the very least it shows that they are hearing our plea and they know the fans are out there... there's an option to put a 'Save the Show' button on your page! :D

Just cause I can't help it; I'm myblackrose there, feel free to friend/message me... ;)

"New SciFi Friday"
Did anyone catch SciFi overly promoting their "new SciFi Friday" the other night?

Apparently the brand-new lineup will be:

Heroes
Doctor Who
Battlestar Galactica
(then probably a rerun of Doctor Who)

What gets me is HEROES. This is NBC blatantly sticking it to us, telling us that it's ALL about money. They're saving a ton by airing the show on NBC then rerunning it on SciFi on Friday. And..it's one of "their" shows, so of course they're gonna promote it to death. I can't even keep track of the # of commercials advertising it on NBC that they've aired on SciFi.

This totally just leads me to believe that Skiffy cancelled SG-1 primarily so they could keep weeding out shows that weren't theirs...to keep their costs down...and to strengthen their tie to NBC. I'm actually shocked that they're showing Doctor Who, since that's BBC.

But this Heroes thing really makes me mad. I won't watch the show. I won't watch it on NBC and I sure as heck won't watch it on SciFi. Aside from the fact that it doesn't interest me whatsoever, I'm just too upset over SG-1 to watch anything on NBC at all. (Most of what I watch is on FOX or CBS or ABC anyway.)

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to send letters to Skiffy telling them that there's only ONE original SciFi Friday and that they shouldn't mess with such a great formula. If they think that airing Heroes twice in one week on two different stations is going to bring viewers over...they're completely off their rocker.
