Of Time and the River
We are nearing a publication date, probably early 2006. Our goal is to honor our past by remembering the men and women and the events of that period, sufficient in number and diversity to join with A Gathering of Memories in leaving an authentic picture of that era.

In addition to the major concentration we are considering a look at what might be fun to incorporate in this new book: a brief segment listing words, phrases, and events that were once part of our daily experience, which have disappeared in this century (or are in the process of doing so).

Here are some samples: bulkheads, jitneys, fountain pens, beach wagons, knickers, honey wagons, clinkers, etc.

saugus is going bankrupt at the hands of town meeting john did you know any town meeting members
and did they value ice skating rinks over police and fire and schools and snow plows and other silly things like that why does the rink need a 41 thousand dollar dump truck with plow when the land around the rink is state property

Still do. How about "sked" (although it also makes the "Wicked Good Guide to Boston English", even they list it as a Saugus thing.)

LOL -- sked! I still use it when I see a sked no matter where I am :-) It's a term of endearment now though.

Walking to Sweetser and Emerson Elementary Schools (though both technically disappeared by the 1990s).

How about the Felton and Robie?
