I'm new here and I'm in awe of how amazing all of these places look. Decorating tips would be greatly appreciated, because my place doesn't quite feel "finished".

I love how big and open it is... I agree about wall hangings, but if you don't want to, try painting the top of the wall a bold color like a dark red, and the bottom, a lighter, neutral color, like a dirty looking beige

great potential :-) too bad the eye is focusing on that big ass tv with the carnival of stuff on top. focus should be on the windows and views, so calm it down, maybe move it away from there? Or get yourself a flat-screen? Find some nice art to attract the attention, and keep the horizons clean. Lovely loft though, great kitchen too with all those open shelves.

SO JEALOUS of your windows btw. each room in my house has one *small* window.

It looks really sweet. I love the couches.

I agree with whoever said the focus is too much on the tv though. I don't think those pictures should be on top of it, especially because can you see them well enough up there? :)
Lovely view.

Awesome place! I really like your rug. And your windows? Absolutely sick. I've noticed that with a few exceptions, you don't really have much color in your place. Maybe expanding your color palette would help a bit? And also like other people have said, stuff for your wall would be good too. Not too many, just ones that really stand out to you. Even if you want to keep a kind of neutral space, anything interesting on the walls would help a lot.

Oh, and if you're not happy w. your TV's placement, it would probably be a good idea to take the stuff off of it as not to attract more attention to it. You could maybe get some wall shelves and put that stuff on it to kind of showcase them. You're on a good track, so good luck w. the rest of your saucifying!

yeeaahh!

the loft that is situated around the super nintendo is gorgeous, too. god im jealous.
i too would suggest some artwork. and maybe when you can afford to, get a flatscreen tv and hang it on the wall or something.

I think some art on the walls would be great, as would be adding some colour to the kitchen cause the beige makes the appliances stand out more than you probably want them to. If you want to keep with neutrals, a dark grey (like gunmetal) might be nice, and it looks great with promary colours and pastels if you want to add accents (tea towels, etc). A greyed down dark brown would me nice there, too.

I see what you're trying to do with the colourful martini glasses, but I don't think it has the effect that you were going for. I think you would get a better cohesive look and make them seem more sculptural if you grouped them closer together as a set, rather than spacing them out. That way you'll be adding more visual heft to them which will help with my initial instinct was that you need to play with scale in your shelving arrangements. You might also want to consider trading your current dishes for ones in a solid colour, as it would add more visual impact that way and will make them look like interesting objects rather than just exposed dishes. I'd also put my spices & booze in a basket (doesn't need to be wicker -- check Homesense & Cdn Tire for pleather ones) which will not only clean up the aesthetics of the shelving but it will make it handy cause you'll be able to pull the bin down and root around in it while you're cooking.

Your loft looks a lot like the loft of an old friend of mine who moved to Calgary. I wonder if it's the same builder.

It's really cute. I don't know if you were thinking of doing anything wth the area beneath the stairwell, but I think that would make the coziest little eating area. A low table with a couple chairs and a painting just above it would be pretty sweet. Being that you already have a little area beside the fridge, maybe you can switch and put a big bookshelf in that area by the fridge. A tall bookshelf would give some more space for media storage, pictures and knick-knacks, though that might be delving into personal preference for me!

I love the martini glasses, but honestly, I think my kitchen would be overflowing with pantry belongings. Have you got one, or is that really enough space for all of it? Just curious because I think I'd go crazy!!!

i would say it needs a little softness to it. artwork, draperies, throws... something to make it look a little less like an office.

it's an amazing space, though.

Color! Just seeing that blue throw on the couch really adds something. So, more bold accents would be good. I'd paint a wall or 2 in the kitchen and hang something from your ceiling (something substantial, maybe an antique bike?).
