About

Credit for this lovely photo collage goes to sidlechick87. Thanks again!

This is a CSI:Las Vegas fan fiction community, based solely on fictions featuring Sara Sidle. It was created after another community of similar nature was shut down. Admittedly, I've never moderated a community before, but I was very disappointed to see the previous community go-as were several of it's other members. So, in short, this is a learning experience for me as a moderator and I'm willing to accept any advice anyone has to offer. I will say, that I understand probably more than anyone that a community's members are reliant on the moderator-and I doubt I will ever be closing this community-however, let it be said, that if I ever should decide that I need to end the community, I will give a few days notice so that those of you who (are like me and) don't save your fictions to your computer and only to this community will have a few days to copy and save your writings. I was not given this priviledge when the sarasidlestories community was deleted and I'm trying to be a bit more accomodating here. I am a fairly open minded person-and I will accept fiction of all sorts-yes, this means you can post slash here. Please, if you post slash, put a disclaimer on it to make sure that those people who don't wish to read it won't read it accidentally. Also, I will ask that if your entry contains any sort of violence, you put a warning or disclaimer on the top so that those wishing to steer clear of such things will know not to read the post. Also, if possible, I would like for all fictions to be entered in a LiveJournal Cut. You can find the instructions to do so here.

I ask that when posting your fics, you put up a description and disclaimer (I don't want to get sued and I'm sure you don't either), in this sort of fashion:

Title:
Author:
Rating:
Pairing:
Category:
Disclaimer: (This is where you say you don't own the characters, you only wish you did....)
Spoilers:
Summary:
Link: (If you have your story posted elsewhere, let us know. Otherwise, if we see it elsewhere, we think they stole it from here or-even worse-you stole it from there. Thanks!)

I would prefer we stick to a rating system for all fics-here's the one I propose:

Rated G—General audiences. Your grandmother and your little brother could read this fic and you wouldn’t blush.

Rated PG—Contains SOME adult language. If your little brother read this, he’d say “that word” for hours, and we wouldn’t want that. Your grandmother would probably blush.

Rated PG-13—Contains any amount you want of adult language. Contains SOME adult situations. No nudity (AKA no sex scenes), possible drinking and drug use if necessary. If your little brother read this, he might think being an adult is pretty fun and easy. It isn’t. We shouldn’t fool him. Both you and your grandmother would blush slightly if she read this and knew you wrote it.

Rated R—Restricted. Yay sex scenes. And adult language. And drug use or anything else you want. Your little brother would ask where babies came from if he read this. We don’t want to answer those questions. Your grandmother would give you a “stern talking-to” if she read this. We don’t want to hear from her either.

Rated NC-17--No one under age 17 should read this. If we find out you’re reading this and you’re under age 17, we’re gonna tell your parents. If you’re writing this, we’re gonna find you a publisher. If your grandmother read this, she'd probably faint. If your little brother read this he wouldn't understand and he'd ask your parents what "BDSM" is or something else of that sort.

I understand that in a fiction-based community, criticism is a must. However, I have to ask everyone to keep their comments constructive. Don't be too hard on writers, especially if this is their first fic. And if you don't like the fic because you didn't like the pairing or some other obscure reason, nobody MADE you read it, so you have no right to complain as long as the writer posts the aforementioned information with the story.

Comments are great of any sort-if you especially like something someone posted, please tell them. People tend to post more often if they're given feedback (At least, I know that's kinda the way I am-if I feel like I actually have an audience, I'm more likely to post the next chapter sooner rather than later) and if you like something someone wrote, you probably want to see more of it, right?

I finally finished up getting the entry tags set up. I think I did a pretty thorough job of setting them up, but if you write something that I've forgotten to make a tag for please e-mail me and I'll set it up for you.

I'm not a fan of cross-overs, but, as I said before, I'm pretty open minded and I think other people enjoy writing them, so I'm not going to tell you not to.....I just can't promise you a pairing tag for those entries! I have, however, made a "crossover" tag, so please post this on entries containing crossover fics.

I would like each person to write an introductory post stating:

1) Your name and or username (this is what the tag for your entries will say)
2) What your favorite pairings are from CSI
3) Your age (Sorry, I would prefer most people to be at least age 16 and above because of some fictions with adult content.....)
4) If you want to add your e-mail address or AIM screen name so that other members of the community can get in touch with you, put it here.

FINALLY! I made a challenge template thingy. I've only seen this done once before and that was in the community that was deleted, so if you guys find any problems with it, please let me know. This is so that other members of a community can post challenges to one another, rather than having only one person post them all the time. I feel that if only one person posted challenges, they'd get a little stale, so I want to keep it open to everyone.

Challenges:

1) Pairing (Sara and ?)
2) Things/people you WANT to see in the fic, sometimes also known as "prompts" (No more than five, please.)
3) Things/people that you DO NOT wish to have in the story. (No more than five, please.)
4) If applicable: Length of story(if you only want a drabble or if you want a ten chapter fic), whether or not you'll accept icons, banners, videos, etc. as well as fiction.
5) If applicable: Rating (If perchance, you only want something smutty, your rating shoud be at least "R"........etc.)
6) The date when the challenge begins and the date when it ends.
7) Whether you want this story to be rated or not. As in, do you want a bunch of people to submit stories with one clear "winner", or are you just looking to read some good fanfic and are hoping this promt will bring that on without it being a clear-cut contest? If it is a clear-cut contest, you as the challenger will be responsible for choosing the winner and awarding them a prize of your choosing, which should also be listed here.

Being that I am allowing people other than me (as the moderator) to post challenges, I will request that you keep up with your own challenges and award your own "winner". Also keep in mind, that if people aren't "playing by the rules", please report them to either me or LiveJournal and we'll have them booted off. This is YOUR challenge when you post it though, so you are responsible for reading the posts and as I said before, deciding on a "winner", if there is to be one.

I would prefer if we keep this all Sara based-I.E. no Catherine/Warrick stories unless there's a Sara story in there as well. I'm sure you get the drift. I also have to go ahead and say that I don't think this is the best place for "real life" stories, like Jorja/Marg or Jorja/Gary or things of that nature and I would appreciate if people could respect that.

If there are stories posted that do not include Sara as a main character, you will promptly be asked to remove them.

Should you need to contact me, my e-mail address is fyregrrl@gmail.com and my AIM screenname is BlueFalconChick.

I am no one to tell people how to express their creativity-this is a fanfiction based community, but I still like to see icons and videos and anything else you guys might can come up with. I don't know how to do a rating system on these pieces or anything....I suppose that if you make a video with a song or something that has "bad word" or adult situations or something of similar nature on it, post a disclaimer on it so that people wishing to avoid such situations can do so. Also, please post that you don't own the characters, yadda-yadda-yadda, and all the jazz. I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with!

I will keep adding to this list as I can think of new things that I should address here.

Welcome to the community and I hope you enjoy it!
