The quote is from one of my favorite icons, and I thought it was appropriate for a photo of Mika-chan with our first flower of the spring.

We love you, Sarah.

Because friendship is always relevant.

I never met Sarah. I only read about her, from others & from her own journal. And I have also experienced first-hand the power of friendship & the connections one can make through something as simple as a doll. No matter how old I get, I hope to never forget that, despite age, status, language barriers & the like, friendship can happen in the most amazing ways.

Thank you, Sarah ^__^

Thinking of Sarah

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago, but when I saw it again today I thought it was appropriate to post in celebration of Sarah Day. Lucy looks so thoughtful - it made me mindful that this is a day where it's important to think of all our friends near and far - and especially remember Sarah. My best wishes to you all.

for Sarah's Day

I wish I could make a new photo for today, but it's a little difficult doing it with just one hand.  I thought about waiting, but then decided that maybe it would be best to post a photo from a place that Sarah truely loved and where she is truely missed.

Sorry it's not the best photo, but to me, getting to visit Volks Sato was a special moment, and I can just imagine how even more special it was for Sarah.  The sakura mean so much to so many, so fragile yet enduring.  Their time is brief so to appreciate the blossoms of the trees seems to me a reminder to stop and appreciate what we have now.  Which I think is something Sarah wanted to share with everyone.

Thank you for this chance to share this.

I met Sarah only briefly, but her story was, and has been an inspiration, deepening my love for BJDs and the friends near and far, IRL and Internet-only (so far!) they've introduced me to.

Thank you, Sarah.

Thank you, VOLKS.

Thank you, Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Thank you, everyone who loves BJDs, and the childlike spirit in each of you.

Happy Sarah Day!

I'm afraid that I'm a bit behind on the reminders, but if more people could join in over the next few days to remember our friend Sarah and all the wonderful friends we have made through this hobby, it would be great!

Friends near and far

I'm a little late, but this is the first ball-jointed doll photo I've taken in over a year, and it is especially for this journal--what a lovely idea for a very special girl who will always be remembered.

This is a simple photo taken in honour of Sarah Day and friends near and far. I will always cherish the friendships I've made through the doll community. Thank you everyone :-)

I thought I'd stop by and post my respects for the one who's no longer with us and those that are left behind...
I believe with all my heart that as long as we remember and continue to love those who have passed on, they aren't really gone. We can't see them but they are always with us. Its just a matter of time until we meet again. Love and hope never end.

Thank you, everyone, for all your lovely pictures!  So many wonderful ways to express how much we love Sarah and each other.^_^

For those who haven't posted yet, please do.  I'm going to wait to let the Schochs know about the site until there are a few more pictures, so please add yours soon.

*hugs* to all of you!

I'm not sure what I should say here, or if I really need to say anything at all. I miss you, Miss Sarah, and I'll always carry a bit of what you taught us with me. "Tenshi no Sato" and "Tenshi no Sumika" aren't just pretty names; they really do bring us angels. I just regret that one had to leave us so soon.

For your friendship, and the countless other ones I've been fortunate enough to make: thank you.

I love you, girl. &hearts

Dearest Friends

I'm sorry that I'm so late posting, but even though it has been almost a year since we lost Sarah, I still have a really tough time keeping it together whenever I think about her.  However, I feel so very lucky to have known her, even for a short time, and very lucky to have all my wonderful friends.  You are all so very dear to me.

Cherish the moment

This weekend I sat in a field watching the cherry blossoms and the wind moving across the lake. The sunlight felt great, everything was beautiful. Just a few hours later it poured down rain,... and then an hour or two after that, there was the most amazing sunset.

Take time to get out and experience friendship and beauty. :)
I am so grateful for the friends I've made through this hobby.
and it might seem like an insignificant thing, but through BJD, I've gotten much more into photography than I was before. I will never be a pro photographer, but that is not the point. It's so relaxing and rewarding to me. Taking my doll out for the day and just looking for beautiful things to take a picture of. It's a great goal for a day, huh?

When I saw the cherry blossoms blooming again in this particular park, immediately I thought of Sarah. When I took this photo above, the cherry blossoms had already started to die and blow off the trees.

I wish all of you beautiful days.

Friends. . .

Photobucket

My Angel and Azure, friends forever. I couldn't think of a better pair to represent what Sarah was to so many people.

Due to various things, I wasn't able to participate in Sarah Day last year, which I was very sad about, even more so after she passed away. I never had the opportunity to meet or talk to Sarah beyond a comment or two on DoA, but we had mutual friends. When they talk about her, I regret even more that we never really talked. She touched so many people and I do believe that the world lost one of its truly good people when she left us.

We miss you, Sarah.

Friendship

 Korben & Mariya

All the pictures I have, and this one I took with my phone struck me as the most suitable for today. Ah well, it's not the quality of the pixels, but the meaning behind them that counts, right?

I'm new to the dolfie community & I didn't know Sarah, but her story touched me. It made me think of how simple & easy it is to be a friend, & how wonderful & rewarding friendship can be. Friends can (& do) come in all shapes & sizes, all colors & genders, & especially with the internet, all nationalities. I hope everyone has the chance to know friendship like this young lady did, & I hope everyone has the opportunity to be a friend like this young lady was.

Happy Sarah Day!

Sarah Day

Right now I'm waiting impatiently for the spring and sakura blossoms, but when they arrive they will only bloom for a brief two weeks before they are gone again for another year. It made me realize that we must cherish all our fleeting memories and never let a day slip by without being thankful and letting those around us know how much we care. Today is meant to remember Sarah, her strength and courage. She was a cherry blossom, who has gone away but whose beauty does not leave our hearts.

Thinking of You.....

maneki neko

[info]aoi_no_neko

because there are things I have no words for

 There are places I'll remember,
all my life though some have changed.
Some forever not for better,
some have gone and some remain.
All these places have their moments,
with lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living,
in my life I've loved them all.

But of all these friends and lovers,
there is no one compares with you,
and these memories lose their meaning,
when I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll never lose affection,
for people and things that went before.
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
in my life I love you more.

Though I know I'll never lose affection,
for people and things that went before.
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
in my life I love you more.

Posting A Little Early

Photobucket

I shot over seven hundred images getting ready for Sarah day this year. I ended up with less than sixty when I'd finished sorting and cleaning them up.

There are some more here:
http://saintsavin.livejournal.com/271161.html

I don't want to be a piggy with the load time of this journal :X.

I've been doing this for three years and have so many great stories and experiences. I've made wonderful friends in BJD fandom and had a truly absurd amount of fun . I've also learned how to sew and take passable pictures and get through airport security with an Arashi in my bag. People ask me if BJDs are worth the money, and I always, always tell them "Yes!". And then about how my coworkers will gather around my desk and squeak with happiness if I have any new acquisitions shipped to my office :X.

Welcome to Sarah Day LJ

Sarah Day was first held on March 18, 2007 and hopefully will become a tradition within the BJD community. Sarah Day LJ is a place to remember our friend, Sarah Schoch, and to celebrate all the wonderful friendships we have made through the BJD hobby. On or around March 18th each year, please feel free to post special pictures and thoughts about Sarah and your other BJD friends.

Last year's Sarah Day was held on my LJ.  You can read my proposal post here: http://kellyhime.livejournal.com/46799.html  and view some of the wonderful pictures that were posted here: http://kellyhime.livejournal.com/47597.html.  However, I thought that this year, it might be nice to create an LJ community, so that Sarah Day has it's own place on LJ.  Posting is open to members and non-members, so I hope that even more people will join in this year!

On March 18th, please start a new thread for each picture, rather than posting them all in the same thread as they were on my LJ.  I'm going to let the Schoch family know about this LJ and I think that having separate threads for each picture will make it easier for them to view the journal.
