A new fan... [Apr. 9th, 2008|11:20 pm]
person4762388

Got the book at my local library here in Cambridge Ontario, I really liked it and hope to see volumes II and III soon.

And news on that?

I am a fan of said Gentre,  "Urban Fantasy".  I like Canadians Charles DeLint and Brits Tom Holt and Terry Prachett as well.

Hopefully we can start a dialogue, I like the world of San Corazon!

Addictions and 'Secrets' [Mar. 6th, 2007|08:47 am]

So I'm re-reading the book for the (uhm) 4th time now. I keep it at work so that I have something to entertain me before I actually start my day. I'm just beginning The Lord Is My Shotgun.

I was told that the more I read the book the more I would pick up on parts of the stories that somehow ae interconnected. I was rather proud of myself that I found a lot of them the first time I read the book. However, just yesterday while reading through There Goes The Neighborhood I thought back to a story I had read earlier in the morning and I was again greeted by the realization that people in that story were related to at least one (if not two) other stories in the book. I giggled to myself and got more than a few queer looks.

I have ended up for the first time in my life descrating a book I own for the pure and simple fact that a section hit me so hard that every time I read it I can't keep from crying. At least I have managed to hinder it from full out sobbing to just a few tears falling. So I grabbed my highlighter and went through roughly a page and a half and highlighted the entire scene. I always find that my book ends up flipping open to that page so I felt for the sake of the spine I may as well find a better way to locate it as opposed to constantly leaving it open to that spot.

If, by chance, you have come to this community because of the article you read in Graffiti Magazine and are interested in purchasing Everything In Its Right Place: Tales Of San Corazon, please click on the link to do so. Unfortunately, Amazon.com is currently the only location where the book can be picked up, although we're working on changing that as soon as we can.

Weekly Writer Update [Jan. 21st, 2007|09:55 pm]

[music |Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea]

Okay, I'm a few days late with the weekly writing update, not to mention the fact that I need to change the format of how it was laid out before, since it became a total jumbled mess of text.

Regardless of that, I have good news and bad news.

The Good news is that I wrote about 7500 words for a new story that I felt the sudden need to work on last week.

The Bad news is that no one will ever read it.

It's fair to say that most of the time, when I write, I am doing it for the pure enjoyment of feeling like I have created something from inside my head and transcribed it into an easily accessible format. I want other people to be able to read what I write, eventually, because I'd like to think that what I am working on would be of passing interest to others out there. Most of the time, I write to share.

Every once in a while, however, I write a story that is extremely personal. A story that is my way of trying to get through an extremely painful personal experience or situation that I prefer remain a private sort of suffering. I never know where the story is going, or why I'm telling it, until it's done and I can look at it in its entirety and feel like maybe I did everything that I could to understand this situation. That maybe through these words I write, if I read them over and over again, I will be able to make peace with something and then move on from it.

For that reason, "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" will most likely stay private and unread for quite a long time.

So, depending on your point of view, I was either VERY productive this week, or anti-productive. Your call, I suppose.

Regardless, here is your new and improved chart for books 2 and 3.

A * next to the title indicates that it’s a story I've worked on in the last 2 weeks

Otherwise, things continue. I had to say goodbye to my stalwart '93 Mustang O' Doom, Sally, and hello to my new vehicle, a trusty workhorse of a '93 Pathfinder named Mary (Mary Mississippi, according to one of my mischievous co-workers). So, thats taking some getting used to.

Also, for those of you who care, this is a link to the virtual magazine that has an article about me in there, so read and enjoy, if you like, and have the time.

That's really it from me. More next week.

Because they afford me the opportunity to have dinner with a very handsome PUBLISHED author, during which I will have him AUTOGRAPH my copy of his FABULOUS book. :D Pretty damn cool, even if he is already a dear friend. :)

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night, Mr. Lacey! I'll call you when we leave here and again once we roll into town. :)

So after a slight delay in the shipment of the book I got it. A day later than anticipated but hey Amazon refunded my shipping atleast. I told myself I needed to finish my other book first, so as I put the one down I picked up Everything In It's Right Place. I just finished 'Hold The Line..', WOW... I am hooked.

Thank you so much (Drew) for being unrelenting in the fact that you kept telling me I needed to read this book. I do really enjoy it immensely and I am just at the beginning!

[music |Queen - We are the Champions]

It is with a light and joyful heart that I post this message. For those of you who have been following the saga that is the publication of the first book in the Stories from the City. Stories from the Sea. trilogy, your wait for Everything In Its Right Place just became infinitely more finite.

Booksurge LLC, the printer of the book, is now in possession of the final drafts and we are on short time until the book becomes available for purchase. We are currently endeavoring to give you a more exact release date but, from the initial figures I've gotten from Steven, it should be available in the next couple of weeks.

When we can give you a more definite release date I'll also make sure to include the ISBN number so that you can order it from your local (major) book reseller.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank everyone who's supported Steven and the rest of the publication team during the creation of the work. We love all of you too.

We're 1 for 3 with 2 more to go.

You can breathe now.

[mood | anxious]

Alright so the book isn't out yet. With that said I have some stolen advice from a famous book we all know and love...

"Don't Panic"

As with all publications there have been some bumps in the road, and they are being overcome. The final pieces of the graphical map to San Corazon are being negotiated as we speak. Barring any objections from the author himself I think I'm going to sneak it up here in a members only post once it's done. Yes, that's just to further torture you all.

If all goes well with phone meetings this week and a few questions get answered by the publisher we'll be on the home stretch.

Alright folks, I know it's been a while but I've been pit deep in life.

However I stumbled across some inside information on [info]talkshowhost's book Everything in its Right Place. And you all know I can be a bit of a gossip monger from time to time, so here you go.

Apparently the word is that the book is in route to the typesetter. We're talking about the book being purchasable very soon here. So if you've forgotten your Amazon login you might want to go get that straightened out sooner rather than later.

I'll keep my ear to the tracks of this train and keep you all posted as I hear more.
