I was born in San Francisco, raised in Pacifica until I was about 4, and then we moved to Hillsborough. Family kept a house there up until I was in my late 20's. As a kid growing up I was very much in awe of the place but it wasn't everything it's cracked up to be. Pretty houses, beautiful land, and neighbors that barely interact.
Hillsborough is a very boring place.
Most of the fun I had was in San Mateo, once I worked out how to get there. Movies, stores, people of all shapes & sizes; so many things to do and experience. I really love that town and go back as often as I can. I currently live in Palo Alto...another fairly boring place.
At least it's pretty.
San Mateo is a great town and stuff from all over San Mateo County has always made me happy.
