Where can I get my car for tinted windows and install an alarm system that is reasonably priced and good customer service?
Thanks in advance. I live near Convoy... but anywhere will do for the right price and people.
I just really want real responses that is recent... I'll yelp and ask around car clubs people.
---
ohh, naming some who to avoid would be nice too. I heard horror stories.
---
are there any websites for local car clubs around here?

Brit moving to San Diego for Fall semester - seeks roommate or apartment!

Hey everyone,
I am new to this community, and to San Diego! In fact at the moment I am still at home in London, England. But I will be moving to San Diego in August, to begin my Masters at SDSU this Fall.
I have a friend who I can stay with when I first arrive, but I'm hoping that won't be necessary. So can anyone help me out with finding a place to live? Anyone need a roommate? I am a 30 year old British male, considerate, respectful, quiet, interesting, and fun. My interests are music, literature, movies, photography, and travel.
Alternatively, would anyone be interested in renting a 2 bedroom place at the Dorado Plaza apartments with me? I have heard good things about that place.
Or, lastly, could anyone point me to some useful househunting links?
Thank you all, and I look forward to maybe meeting some of you this Fall!

Proposition 8 and ComicCon

I'd like to organize a small, polite protest of the Hyatt and Doug Manchester during ComicCon.
People with signs would be perfect, but it would be especially cool if people were to show up dressed as openly gay comic book characters (Apollo, Midnighter, the Question, Northstar, Batwoman, etc.).
Is anyone interested in helping me organize this? Does anyone know anyone who might be interested?
I'm not affiliated with any Prop. 8 protest groups, and I really don't know where to begin. I can't be at the protest myself, because I'm a comic book artist and I have very serious plans for that time -- I will to be inside the convention center, selling comic books. But I'd like to help this happen, and I'd be more than happy to help with organization and permits if someone can point me in the same direction.
I will draw a flier to ask for a boycott of the Hyatt; I'll post it as soon as its done. I've found a printer who is willing to donate their services so the flier will be in color and there will be plenty to go around.
note: I support Mr. Manchester's right to political self-expression, as I respect my own. Both his support of Prop. 8 and my desire to protest the same should be protected. I feel boycotts are an inefficient tool for social change but occasionally quite effective, and this is one of the rare circumstances where I feel one can make a difference (and given the importance of SDCC to the convention center, where a lack of protest would send an unfortunate message).
I imagine this post may cause some debate, but I'm really most interested in finding people who would be interested to participate. ComicCon is from July 23rd to 26th -- the 25th would probably be best, and evenings would probably be best.

On the evening of Sunday, July 5th (tomorrow!) a ridiculously awesome and intense event is going take place. The first ever (as far as I know) SD Anarcho kickball tournament is going to be happening at Hollywood Park in City Heights and YOU and all of your awesome friends are invited. It's anarcho house against anarcho house and we're kick eachothers balls to the death. If you don't belong to a SD radical house it's cool, just come join a team or create your own.
It's a great chance to meet other awesome and sexy San Diego radicals, in a super fun and friendly atmosphere. There's also going to be a vegan/vegetarian potluck and zines so you'll be even more awesome if you bring food!
Festivities start at 5pm!
If you need any more info feel free to ask

Come see my band The Blackwater Conspiracy! Also a bunch of other great music going down including Joey Harris & The Mentals. This was the lineup as I saw it last, but no matter what, you're guaranteed a killer, very eclectic show.
Free tickets are available from the bands or by contacting Blindspot Records, otherwise it's a very reasonable twelve bucks. (I only have a couple tickets left myself, but if you hang out in front or something we can probably still hook you up.)

Suggestions on places to go view fireworks that is kid friendly? I only ask that it doesn't involve huge crowds, or going anywhere near the beach. I have never cared to go out to see fireworks so I don't have the slightest clue where to begin with this... other than places that will be butts to nuts with people. Suggestions?

My ATT DSL modem is a 2wire and it's both a router and a modem.
It died yesterday and it's just bad news.
I want to get online again at home without going to public areas, but where can I get a modem/router? If you are using ATT's DSL and NOT using 2wire, what are you using and where did you get it?
I want to get it replaced by today--but it's cheaper online, psh! I'll get it online and wait....
thanks for the help.

So, my whirlwind backpacking tour of the world turned out to be not so whirlwind and unexpected financial complications have cut my trip short; drat, and I was just starting to enjoy Asia (although I would be happy to trade all of the pollution for a decent burrito). At any rate, as it turns out I'll be staying with a friend in San Diego until I get back up on my feet. San Diego has the distinct privilege of being the only city left in the US that I'd like to live in, so I look forward to it, although as a xenophile I'm going to miss being over my head in cultures so vastly different.
So my post has two points, the first is just to say hi, et cetera; the second is that I'm a fairly accomplished computer security researcher who has worked as a consultant doing mostly code review for the past few years; prior to that I did mostly reverse engineering in a security context, et cetera. I am however, quite burnt out on the computer security industry and have no burning desire to go work for another security-only company. I'm not burnt out on security itself, just the industry itself. My question pertains to if anyone happens to know of any product-based teams looking for security people (i.e. fix their product instead of bouncing from client to client), or heck really anything that could utilize my skill-set. I'd even consider going back to operations oriented positions before considering working as a consultant again, although I may get stuck doing the consultant thing again as there doesn't appear to be a lot of related jobs in San Diego. Any pointers in this area would be appreciated. If it makes any difference, I have some of the best references a person can get in the security industry and have spoken at numerous conferences/co-authored a book, et cetera.
I am not interested in working for the government or anything that will require a clearance; been there, done that, walked away in utter frustration. No, my hair isn't blue anymore.

I was wondering if anyone knew about this religious place
in North County that you are allowed to visit and it might have
something like the galaxy depicted on the ceiling or something
visual like that.
My memory is fuzzy and hopefully I'm not making this up.
Thank-you!

PHA is a non-profit, San Diego based organization dedicated to raising awareness about postpartum depression and related disorders and providing treatment referrals to women who are struggling with them. We are a membership alliance of professionals and individuals working in our local community. Our primary objectives are:
* To increase the awareness of postpartum mood disorders
* To provide information, support, and referrals to the public
* To improve the availability of resources
* To offer education and training to professionals
We are currently seeking volunteer board members. We have an immediate need for a Treasurer.
As responsible board members we ask that each person:
- attend monthly board meetings and be an active participant (4th Wednesday of every month 6:30-8:30PM in La Jolla)
- Read the board minutes for accuracy and vote on board minutes
- Provide written committee chair reports to board in advance of meetings
- recruit committee members who will be active at the committee level but who will not be involved in the board meetings
- be diligent in your oversite of PHA
- Be a member in good standing of PHA
We have a special need for a treasurer. Our bank account is quite small so the duties are not intensive. However, we are planning to set up our accounts in Quick Books as soon as possible and begin developing standard forms for various functions. We receive no government funds and are a small membership based organization. We have never had more than $25,000 in our accounts.
Please contact us if you are interested
