| How long does it take to get packages? |
[22 May 2009|04:12am] |
I haven't received my first ever sampler, I was super excited to buy one.(been wanting to for over ayear now!) Now I'm bummed out, thinking it was such a bad idea. I send the money in Feb. and I kept waiting. On April 10th I decided to email to subscriptions to see if it's normal, or if there was something wrong with my order. No reply, so I emailed Alison a week later, thinking I emailed the wrong mail.
Then came the newsletter saying they haven't been getting some of the emails to resend if you needed a reply. SO another went to Alison(April 27th). Waited, and waited...send one more to subscriptions May 14th. Still nothing, I've even sent a copy/paste of the paypal receipt info in all of these.
So instead of bugging them again, I want to ask you guys. Is this normal? This is just crappy customer service about the emails. And the more I have to wait for a email, makes me not want to buy a sampler anymore. :( I just hope this isn't 30$ wasted that I'll never get back.

| Become a Sponsor of the 2009 Happily Handmade Giveaway |
[14 Mar 2009|11:30am] |
I am so excited to announce that the Happily Handmade Giveaway is back once again. We’ve got a new domain, a spiffy new website, and a great team of volunteers ready to make this giveaway bigger and better than ever. And we promise, we won't disappear for two years ever again!
Even in trying times like these, we are confident that this giveaway will be more popular than ever. I mean, free stuff? No one can resist the prospect of that. And the cost to participate is minimal. Only $20 plus a donation for the gift boxes. It's a small investment for a huge return - I think past participants will agree, there is no other tool more powerful to grow a mailing list than the Happily Handmade Giveaway.
A quick backstory: The Happily Handmade Giveaway began in 2004 as the result of a brainstorming session among a handful of indie artists looking for a unique way to promote their businesses and reward their customers. Since then, it's grown to surpass our wildest expectations. Our last event gave away nearly $15,000 worth of indie merchandise to 51 lucky shoppers around the world. This event, our 8th, is shaping up to be incredible for all those involved.
The goal of the HHG is twofold: - To promote indie businesses with an affordable promotional opportunity, allowing them to reach new customers and build their mailing lists. - To reward shoppers for their continued support of indie business, for making the conscious decision to purchase from an independent crafter and not a big box retailer.
We're currently in our sponsor registration period, which lasts through March 20th, and are looking for indie businesses who'd be interested in sponsoring the giveaway. For a small fee (only $20) and a donation to our prize boxes, Sponsors will be listed on our website as an official hhg entry site. Contestants can enter the giveaway by visiting any the participating Indie Shop Sponsors' websites. Each website will feature a separate entry form, allowing entrants to increase their chances of winning by simply visiting more of the Indie Shop Sponsors. Each Sponsor will also have the full list of sponsors on their entry page, creating an active stream of traffic from site to site to site. Businesses participating in the giveaway report a huge increase in traffic to their site and subscriptions to their mailing list (often a requirement for entry).
If you are an indie business and would like to participate in the giveaway, please visit the sponsor information page (http://www.happilyhandmade.com/sponsor) for details and to register.
Please read through all of the information on our website before participating. A few rules have changed. We have updated the site with a sponsor FAQ page and outlined handy steps to make things smooth and easy for everyone. We're anticipating a huge event, so we hope you will join us!
From all of us at the Happily Handmade Giveaway, thanks for supporting indie shoppers, everywhere. We hope you are as excited about this event as we are!

| Changes for 2009 and a HUGE sale! |
[01 Jan 2009|11:14pm] |
Happy new year! Joyful Abode will be going through some exciting changes in 2009. I’m going to be focusing on expanding my illustration designs and creating more stationery kits, military stationery, all-purpose cards, and recipe cards. So during the first part of this year, I’m going to be clearing out discontinued items… starting with this sale! All non-illustration items are 40%-60% off, so grab them now before they’re gone! I’ll also be selling lots of supplies (mostly sewing, but also some other stuff too).
Please feel free to forward this post to anyone you know who might also benefit from the sale! Oh, and let me know if you’re interested in buying an entire roll of heat-n-bond lite (perfect for applique work) or a bunch of warm & natural quilt batting (the nicest batting out there in my opinion). Or a pazzles inspiration cutting machine with lots of extra stuff like blades, cutting mats, and some paper.

| Meet Deadworry! |
[30 Sep 2008|10:46am] |
|
I recently bought 3 shirts from their Etsy shop and LOVE them!! The designs are so unique and you can tell there is a lot of thought and care put into each item. I was heartbroken to find out that someone is pretty much copying all of Deadworry's designs and selling them as their own. The copied designs are just different enough that really nothing can be done but there's no denying that this person saw Deadworry's shop and copied it! All of Deadworry's designs are screen printed by hand, the "copiers" heat press their items which isn't really a skill and leads to a poor final product.
This copycat has been around for awhile (going away and popping up under a new name) and I've personally had major problems with them in the past. They have no ethics or integrity and are sadly in it for all the wrong reasons. I'm just going to leave it at that. Deadworry is the true artist and I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention how awesome they are!
