We are looking for workshops and Salon leaders for our 2008 year.


For workshops:

We are especially looking for a Victorian dance instructor, but we also need people to lead games, lectures on the arts, and other areas involving a modern take on Victorian pastimes. You can see here for examples of past events.

If you are interested in leading a workshop, please send an email to akasha124 [at] yahoo [dot] com, giving a brief abstract (about a paragraph) on your workshop, how long you'll need, and an additional paragraph on why you feel you're qualified to give it.

Workshop leaders will get free admission into SalonCon. If you are a workshop leader and 21+ (we will be checking id), you will get access to our VIP lounge.

For Salons:

We are looking for leaders who are well qualified in their particular expertise and able to lead an interactive lecture, about an hour long on their topic of choice.

If interested, please send an email to akasha124 [at] yahoo [dot] com with the following information: your topic (It needs to be reasonably narrow. For instance, Psychology is too wide a topic, but the modern commitment process is not), an outline on your proposed lecture, sources for attendees to review before they attend SalonCon (including some internet sources), and a paragraph on your qualification to give the Salon (education, publication, work experience, whatever is applicable).

Salon leaders will get free admission into SalonCon. If you are a Salon leader and 21+ (we will be checking id), you will get access to our VIP lounge.

Volunteers:

Brute Squad - Assisting with the vendors setup/take down, assisting with getting the sound equipment moved.

Ballroom Decorating Committee - assisting with setting up [info]queenaquabubble's ballroom design. [info]queenaquabubble, please feel free to give information on your design.

Potentially, we may need additional tea volunteers, but we'll know more about that as it gets closer.

We require our volunteers to buy tickets, which they will be fully refunded upon completion of your duties. Volunteers ages 21+ (We will be checking your id)will have access to the VIP room. We have a limited amount of space for volunteers, so that will be first come, first serve. You can email me at akasha124 [at] yahoo [dot] com to be considered currently. Tickets will be going on sale in the new year, which will be announced here. You will have one week to buy your ticket, after that your spot goes to someone else if there is a wait list.

I may be interested in giving a talk on victorian, fashion :)

I have had some designers take interest in this, and I know we will be showing. Still, since it is a bit aways, think that we will see more interest closer to.

Well not sure if I would want to run and Dj the show (as I am sure I will be running about organizing everyone etc..) But I do know that my good friend and awsome Dj
dj Th'Elf seemed interested in salon Convention so he may be someone to talk to about djing.
I will be talking to him in the next few days and can mention it to him.

It is not going to come together for me this year, it seems, as I now have work conflicts with SalonCon itself. That gives me another year to work out my proposal, though, I suppose.
