nothing really major! this post is mostly for pooka beta testers.

pooka's XP gain rate has been nerfed (it is now the same as augurers) after discussing it with brass.
also, the level at which pooka recieves trance was bumped up to the 30s. ALSO you got a...

new skill
LACKADAISY - it lowers your target's HR significantly for a short burst of time.

tweaked skills
weaken - lowers the target's DR slightly for a short burst (in addition to weakening)
poison- lowers the target's HR slightly for a short burst (in addition to poisoning)

these were tweaked due to the unanimous agreement that outside of PVP, the skills were prettymuch useless.

it's deffinitly tweak-season though, so hang onto your hats. vrrrrooom!

-you can now follow regardless of levels. level 3 can follow level 50...who cares!
-flints have been added to things you can buy in the chuian tree, so go go rangers!
-running up without fly no longer crashes sabrous in a giant fireball.
-cure serious and cure crit for rangers have been inverted to more LOGICAL levels. ie, you get the weaker one *first*...
-time played on your score actually reveals the *gasp* time played!
-the explorer's order shopkeep actually has MONEY to be a pawn shop now.

HAPPY POLE DAY!

What's pole day? Well, it's the SABROUSIAN NEW YEARS! it'll last from today through to the 4th of january.

What it really is is a backdrop for the roleplayers to have some fun. like to freeform RP? feel silly? feel like getting a prophecy from a snow-white grring peen? head up to the hotsprings. tare and i have been laughing our butts off all morning (well, evening too) getting this ready.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!

In fact this update is almost entirely roleplayer-centric. Thismorning i went about and added programs/mobs/items like the lounge rope to several popular RP hangouts so that you don't have to worry about dying of thirst/hunger while at them. These spots include the Sun Temple Pond (an apple tree, PULL BRANCH) The Sandbox (look at the waitress for her commands) the hotsprings (give tera one gold) and the mansion pool (look at loki for the commands). also, the hotsprings now have a portal-anchor with this. Tera is only level 10 and should be easy to port to for easy RP access.

on top of this, the Sun Guard got a program to check for locations of RPers. If you say 'roleplayers' to her, she checks popular spots (like the tavern) and tells you if anyone's in them. that way, you can easily track down the RP if it's on the move.

also, there were some minor tweaks which include...
-the backpack now is actually WORTH its price...kinda.
-the gizmo shop sells tons of party gear
-the gizmo shop's hours are the same as the tavern's
-new players arrive on the STAIRS of the sun temple, not right on the altar
-call familiar got shut off AGAIN. it seems to have gone back to its old ways of crashing stuff...sorry guys :<

long time no getting around to THIS. site update!

i've been sitting on this PILE of art for the longest time, and i'm fairly sure there's new stuff from just about EVERYONE, but a few names i know are tavanaka, tarendol, yours-truly, greenbear, brass, cypress, kilo, maniac, amred, minteh, ronin and chiyokins. yeesh!

as for the featured art...i might have featured this before, but it goes hand-in-hand with my next update on news so ENJOY IT.

wtf tochi indeed. it is my next news to announce that we are looking for FOUR people to beta-test the pooka class. the requirement for this is that you promise to give feedback with some regularity and that you have at LEAST one character at LEAST at level 30. the testers will be selected randomly from anyone who applies if there are more than four applicants. if you're interested in beta-testing pooka, just reply here with your 30-or-above alt name and something like 'oo me me' or something.

pooka betas will start out at about level 20, UNLESS you specifically want to start at the start. you can pick any race you want, we'll set you to pooka after you come through the newb area.

also, tare and i are planning a little thematic freeform RP kind of thing for new years (or as Sabrous calls it, POLE DAY) and more details on that later. :>

okay guys. the second half of the catacombs quest might be next weekend...it depends on things. right now is a pretty unsure time for me so i'll do my best but i'm under some major stress. a few may know what's up, and i urge you to keep from gossiping. i'm not sure if i want it to be public yet or not.

as some of you *may have noticed* since i kind of left the project incomplete before PASSING OUT LAST NIGHT ... there is a new class that shows up on the classes list but is (now) unplayable.

this class is pooka.

what is pooka? pooka is a shapeshifter and trickster magic class i'm JUST STARTING to create, based on the pooka of celtic legend. more on them here. pooka will be negative aligned. naturally sabrousian pooka are not irish pooka and so the forms are going to be a tad different. every 5 levels or so, pooka will gain a new shapeshifting form which has new buffs included in it. ie, eventually they shapeshift into a form which has permanant aquabreath etc. pooka also contains (or will contain) a default morph for roleplay or goofabout value. basicly the pooka's 'true' form is that default morph and it's assumed that whatever race a pooka is they're just doing for the sake of blending in to cause trouble (much like gaki is supposed to not have a race but takes the form of races, etc).

last night though pooka was an accessable class to anyone who felt like it. if you made a pooka alt please tell me now. i AM looking for beta testers but it is NOT an easy job. if you ALREADY MADE A POOKA ALT, consider the following things about possibly being a beta tester.
-do i want to avatar a prototype class? it MUST be avatared for release.
-do i want to send tochi weekly emails about my impressions, feelings, suggestions and thoughts?
-do i want to play a class where the skills and xpbase are constantly changing?
-do i solomly swear to tell tochi if i feel the class is getting 'broken'?
-do i promise to intentionally test the limits of this class (ie, level solo, level in groups, throw myself in against enemies too hard for me to see if i die or not)

if you think you can agree to these, drop me a line, and i'll consider you for beta. we already have one beta tester (valthera) so if you see her around and would like to lend a hand, invite her into your group or buff her up and point her in the right direction for leveling.

so what the hell i thought you were beta testing monk still?
well essentailly this means monk is almost finished and almost ready to be released. talis is on his last 10 levels and so we're essentially doing the final tweaks. so if you spot talis around and you're within range to drag him on a leveling excursion, do so. the sooner he finishes, the sooner you can all monk it up.

because i am NOT the greatest at leveling magic classes, i honestly DON'T know a lot of great skills to give pooka. if you have suggestions, by all means drop them here.
