SO you may be wondering what prompted the last question. Well basically I was watching this thing about violence and video games where they had this kid fire a gun (and he did not enjoy it :<) and I asked Alix if he'd ever shot a gun before. He said no, but he said he'd asked all his friends and they all had. Which surprised him (and me), and he said that a surprisingly large amount of people have fired a gun.

SO I DECIDED TO ASK YOU GUYS AND HE WAS RIGHT :O I DIDN'T KNOW SO MANY OF YOU HAD FIRED A GUN, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT

Anyway, in totally unrelated news, I went and got some MGS videos today that I've been meaning to record but just never got around to doing. That was a great sentence, shut up.

Otacon saying he's not a computer in MGS1, which apparently a lot of people miss? :O I CALL OTACON OBSESSIVELY IN ANY GAME I CAN SO
Oh Otacon, you and your daddy issues. Well until Kojima decided incest with his stepmom was more interesting or something. Kojima. >:(

Calling the Boss while wearing the tux in MGS3. HEY BOSS I FEEL... STYLISH :D?
TAKE THAT STUPID THING OFF >:(
:(

Big Boss rhapsodizing about boxes in MGS3 which i had trouble getting last time for some reason but there it is finally.

The amazing Crocodile Cap of MGS3 and everyone's goofy reactions to it. To be totally lame, it's nice to hear Eva laugh like that. Leave me alone.

MGS games aren't exactly known for their snappy quickpaced dialogue but wow it gets really annoying if you're trying to speedrun to a certain conversation. My closest save in Twin Snakes was right before the Sniper Wolf battle (i have about eighty billion saves in twin snakes and yet they were all at the same points - before meeting otacon, before the elevator conversation with otacon, before killing wolf, at the end of the game (with otacon), you see the general theme), so I tried to get through everything as fast as possible and still ended up being like SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP I JUST NEED TO GET TO THE KEY AAAAAARGh
Doesn't help that codec convos in Twin Snakes are hard to skip through. Baaaah
For MGS3 i didn't have anything even close so I just started from the beginning, but the croc cap isn't very far in so it wasn't any big deal. I did somehow manage to kill myself on the second screen after nearly walking off the cliff on the first one, thus proving that I can play these games like 80 times and still be completely terrible at them.

Zarla: man i forgot ocelot shows up here to be a douche
Zarla: as usual
Zarla: an ocelot never lets his prey escape he says
Icculus: i don't think they're known for that
Zarla: hahaha
Zarla: ocelot just makes up random ocelot facts
Zarla: AN OCELOT NEVER SLEEPS IN THE SAME PLACE TWICE
Zarla: AN OCELOT ENJOYS A RASPBERRY MALT EVERY NOW AND THEN
Zarla: AN OCELOT GETS THE LAST SAUSAGE, GIVE ME THAT
Icculus: hahahahaha
Icculus: 'aren't ocelots endangered?' 'no?' 'they're ABOUT TO BE >:('
Zarla: an ocelot always calls for backup
Zarla: an ocelot always gets whupped by cqc
Icculus: an ocelot always jumps around like a spaz and loses a battle
Zarla: an ocelot always gets hit with motorcycles in the face
Zarla: an ocelot's gun always jams
Zarla: an ocelot wants so badly for you to think he's cool :(
Icculus: it's like they embraced the fail that was raiden and made it the fail of ocelot's youth
Zarla: an ocelot always carries a mouse trap
Zarla: an ocelot always points fingerguns at you
Zarla: an ocelot wants to know if he can get your number baby
Zarla: an ocelot wants you to hit him with the seven digits
Icculus: ocelot wants to leekspin
Zarla: an ocelot never lets a meme escape

WHILE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT METAL GEAR, DO YOU WANT SOME MORE LAME COMICS??? because for some reason i can't stop coloring them lately

lots of tiny children running around )

Zarla: volgin walks up all electric and KUWABARA, KUWABARA and you know you're in a metal gear game
Icculus: do random villians with supernatural powers mutter inanely and work for rival governments?
Icculus: you must be playing metal gear!

Oh god you guys.

Sluggy gave me Fallout 3 and the patch so I can play it without a disc. I was honestly surprised it works on my laptop, it only really chokes up outside in the wasteland, but indoors/dungeons it runs pretty smoothly. Like there is one mission where you go to this Minefield and you can disarm the mines before they go off. But I lag, so HORRIBLY, outdoors that when I approach to disarm them, I lag over top of the bomb and it goes off, ending in ouchies. I admit that in order to GET to places I have to use a NoClip command to walk just under the map to reduce the lag. Because honestly it took nearly ten minutes for my character to walk from one house to another the lag was so bad. That’s even with every setting ever turned down to the lowest possible peg. BUT STILL OH GO IT’S POST-NUKE AND IT’S MY FAVORITE EVER AND OH GOD IT’S SO FUN I WASTE SO MUCH TIME IN IT HALP. I sit down for a 2 hour session of this and I get up 9 hours later. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF I will never get anything done at this rate. I made Nick but I forgot to turn on Fraps to take screenshots. Derp.

I got a call from my Step-Sis. I got a job pet sitting their two dogs and their cat on the 30th to Aug 2nd so I’ll be over there. They have this One-Eyed Smoke Persian that’s almost 20 years old named Dewy. He’s the saltiest crankiest old cat ever, and takes delight in quiet intelligent company, so thus we have a kinship. What’s funny is one time they hired a pet sitter that didn’t brush him, and with long haired cats like Persians, you MUST brush them or they get matted. Well, he got matted so they shaved him. I tell you, there is nothing freakier than a shaved Persian. My god they are so tiny without all that hair. Like Woah.

Under the cut I have pics from last weekend like a promised. ENJOY THE CUTE.

Woof Woof Woof )

I went to a Bob Dylan / Willie Nelson / guy I don't care as much about concert last night.  It was amazing, i haven't been that close to a stage before, and some of my favorite songs were played.  Also a stinking drunk guy was dancing around next to me and kept giving himself antlers as he danced. GOOD TIMES!

Now onto something you guys might care about.

UPDATES:
  • 1 New Orlane page
  • 3 New Everything Else pages (1 real life, 2 OrLane related)
I don't know if you can tell but the OrLane comics aren't like normal Everything else comics.  This is because I'm almost done with this sketchpad and I looked through it for stuff, and those were a couple of sequiental doodles I was proud of (lulz and art wise) so up they go.

Another OrLane page won't be up inawhile, but a stereotype say, what should be up soon.

P.S I edited my last entry to include 4 new kitten pictures.

See ya later folks.

Saw the new Harry Potter movie last night!
All in all, one of the better ones. Some parts were done really well, others were not so much.

Idea is forthcoming still, although it is not nearly as interesting as I made it out to be. Sorry. :<

So tired ughh do not want work.

My mom gave me this great gem in the car on the way to work. I was telling her about Fancypants James and how he spends a lot of money.

My mom said that "He has a lot of money" with the italics being an implied statement. She then says "or maybe his dad has a lot of money", but depending on the context, it could mean "or maybe his dad he has a lot of".

It sounds awkward in English, but she basically implied that James' mom is skanky and sleeps around a lot and therefore, he has a lot of dads to give him money. She was just joking and just said it to point out the (usually vulgar) humor in Cantonese, and I'll have to agree that's pretty witty. I can understand why some people rather shoot themselves in the head than to learn Chinese. There's so much contextual meanings or double meanings behind everything that's being said.

My favorite is still Big Ben Tower. "Ben" can be pronounced as "Stupid", so my dad kept pointing out the "Big Stupid Clock" to me in England.

...so... productive day so far.

Stopped back by Zona Rosa, near-final re-confirm of everything, we're still golden. Asked due to the number of folks showing up (3 groups of 4 at least when you include handlers) if we could use a bathroom or something inside to change, they actually said (tentatively) yes, though I need to go back tommorow to get the final say-so just to be sure. (Need a day to confirm, etc, etc, blah, blah.)

But... got that taken care of.

[info]rosequoll, DTD is en route via USPS International Priority Mail, should get there in about a week! E-mail later tonight with WU info.

[info]batnwolf, your BlackBerry 8820 is en route, should be there in a day or two!

And... payed for something to help with the fursuiting stuff, four white mesh baseball caps with a super-bright-red panel on the front that I'm getting embroidered with "HANDLER" in black block print right now, so it'll be easy for security or paramedics or LEO or anyone else to immediately know who to approach if they have questions, to handle whatever suiters want to stay silent as much as possible.

Next... shopping run later tonight to go pick up a flat of bottled water, a crate of sacrificial giant-sized pixie sticks to use as straws, and a six-pack of bottled water with a bright-coloured lid to put the rehydration fluid (Pedialyte/Gatorade blend) in, since it's meant for emergency usage just in case. Yes, I'm hoping all of this money being spent in preperation goes to complete waste. If it does, then things went well. But I'm very much a belt-and-suspenders-and-sleeves kind of guy.

I'm figuring about 20-24oz (1x20oz or 2z12oz, whatever's more convenient to carry for each handler) of water per fursuiter, plus one extra set, plus one set of the emergency-stuff. So yeah, handlers have a bit to carry, but it shouldn't be too bad overall. =^.^=

Korean has different words to denote different family members.

Gomo is aunt on father's side of the family.
Imo is aunt on mother's side of the family.
Gomobu and Imobu are uncle in law, married to Gomo and Imo, respectively.
Sukmo is aunt in law, regardless of the side.

My brother and I have a Gomo and Sukmo, but no Imo. So, a couple of years ago our Gomo and Gomobu came over.

My brother: Gomo! Gomo!
Gomo: Hello, J. Are you doing well in school?

MB: Imo! Imo!
Gomobu: Hello, J. Are you doing well in school?

*later that day*

Gomobu: Why is J calling me Imo?

Now fast forward to present day.

Dad: Your Gomo and Sukmo in law are coming to visit.
Me: You mean Gomobu
Dad: Yeah. That's what I meant.

... like father, like son?

I bought a new camera lens.. to the dismay of my mom. It just came in today, so I went outside for a couple test shots.

The lens is MAAAASIVE. I don't know how I'm going to lug it around during a con. It's a perfect portrait and stage lens though, so I'll just have to see at my next con.

Ben came to visit with his pack of kids today. He looks sooo much better last time I saw him, so I guess the chemo is treating him pretty good so far. So I spent all day playing with his kids and talking about comics. It's refreshing to be able to show my comics and doodles to someone who actually loves and understands comics, instead of my folks that are just LOL BATMAN WAS A COMIC I DIDN'T KNOW THAT DERP :B. He gave me some cool ideas that i'll have to draw up one of these days.

Then my folks started shooting thier guns, because you know out in the country, the only thing to really do is shoot guns at targets and complain about the goverment. I was inside mostly trying to get some stuff inked and the poor dog kept climbing in my arms like D8. Tink really hates gunshot noises, so for most of the day she was sitting on people's laps, shaking. Hell when Ben went to leave with his kids she jumped in his car twice because she thought they were going to start shooting again. Oh Tink, it's always hard to come home and then leave in a couple days. DON'T WORRY, I GOT SOME REALLY CUTE PICS TO SHOW YOU GUYS LATER :3

Other than that, it was a meh weekend. Mostly fucked around with smackjeeves code. Smackjeeves is cool in which they allow you to uber super customise thier templates, but goddamn is there some buggy code and stupid crap that you have to yank out first. Like fo serious why would have a rating system on your comic seriously fffffffffff and oh god there was so much repete coding it's just, wat. I'm sorry I spent a good 2 hours last night ripping out stupid coding and having Dial-Up drop my connection every 10 minutes. Ffffffffffff. OH WOE TO BE A CODER. WOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Whatever, i'm heading back to Grandma's in about.....6-7 hours to hang for the next two weeks. So i'll be there arting and chillaxing. I managed to get ahold of my college roomie Meg and we talked shop about who's bringing what to college this year. See, Meg is a shining example of a 'good' anime fan. She hate anime that are popular but insteads digs the older series with a well defined story like Trigun. WE ARE BFFS FOREVER. YES.

God I spent all weekend watching Harry Potter movies and drawing cute things. I need to do a sketchdump here soon. ONE OF THESE DAYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

GOD IT'S LIKE, NOTHING BUT HARRY POTTER ON JUST WAT.
