updated area list
okay folks, FG should be fully cleaned up and tweaked and in! so go get lost in hedgemazes and attacked by swarms of gnats!
in addition, the Explorer's Order is almost ready to go - so if you were planning on entering be sure to talk to minita about the details, as she's the leader!
on another build-related note, here's the updated area-list. if you signed up to build an area on this list but have found you haven't got the time or it's too tough, PLEASE TELL ME so i can keep the list accurate! and yes, i have added some new areas to it.
sunken city
-difficult area! located in the black lake, totally dead city. think atlantis, only more like ...well, think what happened to new orleans.an island - claimed, kentrin is takin it for a spin!
- out in the ocean, can be anything you really want, within reason.
the eastern cliff
- leading down off the mesatop from the other side of the tumbleweed town, and dropping off into...a rainforest basin claimed by otomas!- comes down from that eastern cliff.A MAAAAAAAAGICAL FOREST STILL CLAIMED BY EMPI
- get as SARCASTIC AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. this MIGHT be claimed by empi, as she was working on it, but like...okay, watch this mst3k and then go get gigglysarcastic.
the south beach
-easy difficulty. altair was working on this, but hasn't had time. it must connect to the coral sea, and must include a reference to a town on stilts (but not the town itself)a nikitak mansion claimed by jemli!
-mildly hard area, you may want to know mob progs for ambiance. it can be haunted or occupied or abandoned. this will be the mansion on ice mountain.
wonderland
-EXTREMELY HARD AREA, and you REALLY want a LOT of input from me to tackle this. you should know mobprogs and have a GOOD idea of how to build. yes, we are talking alice in wonderland. from the rabbit hole down.ew ork apartments claimed by nazir!
-mildly hard area, just because there will be lots of rooms with general ideas of families and items etc. think inner city. this will be one/two large buildings in ew ork.
muti cliff town
-mildly hard area, you need to know how to do towns. towns involve a LOT of things, but if you feel up to the challenge, think about the pueblo indians only with no ladders (all flight/climbing) and located in the west of Ew Ork.Cliffs of Insanity claimed by nazir!
-a straight drop down off the low fields, straight down to an ocean, no beach. all rooms should need climb or fly going up and down, and the fall should be VERY LONG. yes, we're talking princess bride, so you can have a rope or the man in black on it.a thief town - called, alaiya's still doing it.
-Pretty hard area, a complicated town with a lot of balance needed to it. this MIGHT be claimed, as alaiya was working on it before the real world claimed her too. but if you are feeling in a robin hood mood, hit it up.a farm - called, metrozol would like a shot.
-this farm is the one located in the low fields. prettymuch fair game. if you want to build a farmhouse and barn to go with it, cool, if not you can just have a huge pasture or field of grain. just remember horses and cows do not exist in sabrous.
the North face of Ice Mountain
-mildly hard area, just because you need to be VERY careful to match up the mood/feelings/descriptions of the original ice mountain to make it wrap 'around'.
Elwood Hospital
-intermediate difficulty, as it involves closed/locked doors and indoors rooms. this is the cheerful, healthy, first hospital of sabrous located in bishirii. yes, it does have a mental ward. it should also have a surgery ward and general doctor's office. this is NOT a creepy death hospital, it should be more like mr. rogers and less like silent hill.
Ew Ork Museum
-intermediate difficulty, or more difficult depending on how fancy you want to get. essentially this is the museum of natural history and so should reflect that. it will be NORTH from the same room you access the Hightower Hotel in from the top of ew ork. its tail end hangs out over the water of the black lake.
The Brewster House
-intermediate difficulty, this is a small area (similar to the north tek mansion) which is located in ew ork. it's based around the house from the play arsenic and old lace. you should be familiar with the play (you CAN rent the movie version) before building the area. this includes bodies in window seats, 'panama canal', etc.
The Nikitak Clocktower
-easy difficulty, it is located in Norra. the reception room is already in place, but the rest of the tower is up to you. obviously it should include some clock mechanics. given that most people go to norra in their 40s, i would suggest the area be a level 40/50 area as well.
The east-cliff fortress
-easy difficulty, this is that fort vaguely mentioned in the low fields. it should contain a few plot-specific references so be sure to check with me on what it requires if you'd like to build it. it *is* abandoned, so there should be no guards/patrols...just hobos and monsters that've taken up residence. likewise the gear found should be sort of 'left behind' stuff, no shiny helmets or flying banners.
i'm also taking down a list of edits/ideas, including a bunch of mobs that will drop glory coupons (but only if you are below a certain level!) to encourage exploration of other areas. if you've got some good ideas for tweaks or edits (ie, nazir had a great idea for doors that are revealable on detect hidden) leave it here and i'll give it consideration and whatnot. yop.
