Apparently they updated the way Haven looks and there is an annoying banner looking bar thing at the top with my user name and quick links. I don't want it there. I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I couldn't find it in my customizations. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I have noticed that Haven, though I like it, is prone to easy disruption by faulty HTML in entries. When I make a mistake, it's easy for me to fix, but if a friend makes a mistake, I am reduced to begging them to fix it (though I usually look at the code and offer them a solution when I do this).

Is there some easy way I can tweak Haven so that it's not so easy to cripple it? I've noticed that LiveJournal will sometimes barf back a raw entry with an error about irreparable mark-up: This implies that some faulty mark-up is repairable. Is there a function I can call on an entry's text that will cure some of the problems, or must I continue to plead via comments to my friends?

I've been using the "kunzite1 fixes Haven" layer for a while now, and suddenly my "edit this entry" and "add to memories" links are gone. According to support, it's because there was a change made to the style and I now need to use the print_entry function. Problem is, I have no idea how to change it. Help, anyone?

I use the S2 style Haven for my journal. There are two things I really want to do. One is an override to put a banner on my page. Also I would like to make the journal entries smaller. Can someone direct me to a good site that explains how to do this? Someone on another list gave me a website but it was for S1 and mentioned nothing about doing a banner. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello.

I've been mucking about trying to find where I can fix this to no avail, so I'm hoping someone else will know.

I'd like to remove that ugly little footer at the bottom of the page, that has 'powered by livejournal.com' on it. I don't care about the text so much, as I do about the ugly little bar. So either removing it entirely, or just how to make the bar transparent but allow the text to stay would work.

I'm sure I'm just overlooking something disgustingly obvious, but oh well. =P

I have been using a s2Haven theme layer on GJ for several months with no problems. kunzite1 helped me set that up, and my code is listed in the comments here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/s2haven/15580.html

last night I moved it over to my daffidoll journal. the recent entries page looks great. but the friends view has some transparent entries. Currently, the top 3 are transparent, then everything looks normal for awhile, and then again at the bottom there are more transparent entries. the entries that are transparent also go all the way across the screen insted of just the middle 80% like they should.

and I put the "layerinfo "source_viewable" = 1;" in so you should be able to look at the code. I don't know how to read/understand the code, so I really just copy/pasted in from GJ and changed some links. (In GJ my friends page looked fine)

Edit: I just looked through my friends filters, which don't include communities, and all of those pages look fine. The problems seems to stem from either community posts or pictures posts? and then messess up the rest of the page? the first entry on my messed up page is this one.

I'd love to make the text in both entries and comments un right and left justified. I want it left justified and ragged right. I can't quite find the place to twiddle this. Where is the bit that makes the sides both justified? My last tweak screwed up the box around the entries. I'm afraid to get any more frisky!

I'm trying to add a 'communities' link at the top of my journal where the links for 'info, archive, calendar, friends, etc' is, so that I can read my communties separate from my friend's page.

Any help from you guys, because I'm an idiot when it comes to these things.

I have seen some people putting tags in their sidebar using flexible squares. Is it possible to do this with Haven? I know how to add additional sidebar boxes, I just need the code for tags.

lisabella is an example of flexible squares with tags. they are on her sidebar was down under all the icons.

Is there any way to rearrange the placement of your current mood/music display? For example, moving it from the top to the bottom, or vice versa?

Also, is there a way to define properties for your subject line? I have my body text set to a smaller size, but I want my subject to be larger than the entry text.

In case you were wondering how to change the font size, I was playing around in a theme layer and found out how -- just add this to your layer:
function Page::print_custom_head() { """ <style type="text/css"> body { font-size:12px; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; } </style> """; }
(all that stuff in the box) and change the "12" to whatever size you want.

I switched over to Haven a day or two ago and have been customizing the look without too much difficulty.  However, I do have one question:

Is there any way, other than trial and error, to find out what fonts are supported? Also, a couple of the fonts I've tried that are available are too small. I'm not looking to change the headers and navigation, just journal and comment entries. I am almost a complete coding idjit with rudimentary skills with html that I've picked up over the years.

Okay, here's a question. Can anyone tell me how to change the page width on my layout with Haven? I would really like to set it to a smaller page width so my background image can show. I'm a beginner, so all this stuff about layers and such is over my head. Thanks.

Hi, I'm kind of new to all this and would like a little help... Basically, I have a background picture and I would like everything on top (apart from the text obviously) to be transparent. Can anyone help me? I don't understand all this stuff with layers or anything so step by step instructions would be fantastic otherwise I probably won't be able to keep up with your technologically advanced brains! :)

Hi there. I was wondering.....with my current layout I would like to have the header (dealt with that already :P) AND a background. The background I would like is this: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v14/Jessamiah/stripes.jpg . The problem is that it seems like s2 won't let me add two images to my journal in the html.
Can anybody give me that exact html (I'm not great with this) so I can just cut and paste it right into my layer?

I have another question, in case I can't do the transparent thing. How to I create a header? In other words how do I get that space at the top in order to put a banner or something up there? And if I need to do a layer to do this, how do I do that? I have no idea where to begin. I've looked through the FAQ's and some of the posts here but I guess I need it spelled out in more detail. If there is a tutorial somewhere on how to do the header and layer please direct me. Or if you can explain it to me here I would be so thankful.

I made a background for my lj, but I didn't make it wide enough efvidently. I was hoping the sides of the background would show in the empty space of my journal. But again what I would really like is a header and a background if that is possible.
